Kstew in LA and horseback riding

Kristen Stewart mounted a horse in Palm Springs yesterday. She was decked out in her usual tee and jeans outfit but also sported a helmet and riding boots. It appears the actress is prepping for her role in Snow White and the Huntsmen, which will have the star atop a horse for filming. Kristen’s been staying in shape with regular workout sessions all week, and she was most recently spotted leaving a yoga class in LA on Thursday. The equestrian fun ended since Kristen was back in Beverly Hills today and she threw on cutoff shorts to take care of some errands. Kristen was greeted with a parking ticket, though, when she arrived back at her Mini Cooper.

Breaking Dawn Movie Posters in Phillipines

The Giver casts Jeff Bridges

Bridges, who won an Oscar in 2010 for his turn in “Crazy Heart” and was nominated for another lead gold statue for last year’s “True Grit,” has optioned for film the 1993 Lois Lowry novel, “The Giver,” a moralist sci-fi story that won the Newberry Medal, the top honor in young adult fiction. The novel is set in a seemingly perfect society, without crime, poverty, hatred, divorce or war. The Giver, it turns out, is the elderly man charged with keeping the institutional memory for the society, which actually stifles desire and subdues familial differences for the ordered good of society. Bridges will take on the role of that wise elder. Vadim Perelman (The House of Sand and Fog) is still attached to pen the script.

I have read 'The Giver' multiple times and really love the novel. I am excited to see they are making this movie and hope to follow production and casting.

Hunger Games Filming in warehouse

mockingjet.net writes:

Local news reporter Russ Bowen scopes out the warehouse where scenes were being shot last night under tight security.

So what do you guys think? Is Katniss inside shooting arrows at a buffet table? Being shadowed by Rue during training? Or is she being offered a glass of orange juice while she watches Peeta fight for his life? What’s your guess as to what’s going on inside?

So exciting!

2011 Summer Movies Part 2

I previously posted on some of the Summer movies I was most looking forward to here.

June has come and gone and I am a bit behind in movie seeing since RL and work has been super busy. The good news is I will begin to have more time and plan to see a lot of movies especially since the drive-in is open and offers 3 movies on the weekend :)

If you want to see May - July movies Click Here

Here are some for August:

Julia's Eyes

Synopsis: The film tells the story of a woman slowly going blind as she investigates the mysterious death of her twin sister.
Mandy's Mind: Looks Creeptastic. I love that kind of stuff

Bag of Hammers
Synopsis: Two slackers run a valet-parking scam to steal cars, but their operation is threatened when a stressed-out single mom and her street-smart young son move in next door.
Mandys Mind: Looks like one of those stupid comedies you either love or hate. I will check it out since I typically love the stupidest comedies.

Janie JonesSynopsis: The story centers on a young girl who is abandoned by her drug-addicted, former-groupie mother at a concert and surprises the fading rock singer who’s performing with news that she is his daughter.
Mandy's Mind: I love Brittany Snow a lot.Elisabeth Shue and Abigail Breslin are also in it. I can't wait for more information on this film

AtrociousSynopsis: The film centers on the Spanish police’s discovery of hours of recorded evidence that shed new light on a gruesome murder investigation. The found footage documents a family’s summer holiday, where a brother and sister investigate a terrifying local urban legend. As their investigation intensifies, strange occurrences in and around the house escalate rapidly, before culminating in unspeakable atrocities.
Mandy's Mind: Again a twisted sort of film I would probably enjoy.

Rise of the Apes
Synopsis: Set in present day San Francisco, "Rise of the Apes" deals with the aftermath of man's experiments with genetic engineering that lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. James Franco will play a driven scientist who becomes a crucial figure in the war between humans and apes.
Mandy's Mind: Besides being filmed here it has some casting I like. I am just upset I didn't get to meet any of said cast during filming.

Dirty Girl
Synopsis: Pic, set in 1987 in Oklahoma, stars Juno Temple as a high school tramp seeking the father she never knew who runs away with a closeted gay boy who wants to escape going to military school, portrayed by newcomer Jeremy Dozier.
Mandy's Mind: I love these troubled teen flicks. I cant wait to see a trailer.

The Change Up
Synopsis: A responsible family man switches bodies with his best friend, a lazy man-child.
Mandy's Mind: I love that it is the director from Wedding Crashers and the writer's from the Hangover. I also love the cast! Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman, Olivia Wilde, Leslie Mann... I think this will be a great flick and one married and single people will enjoy and relate to. The grass isn't always greener ha!

The Whistleblower
Synopsis: In Bosnia in 1999, Kathryn Bolkovac, a U.N. peacekeeper whose post with the Intl. Police Task Force was arranged by DynCorp Inc., is assigned to run the IPTF office that investigates sex trafficking, domestic abuse and sexual assault. She ultimately alleges that peacekeepers, U.N. workers and international police are visiting brothels and facilitating sex trafficking by forging documents and aiding the illegal transport of woman into Bosnia. DynCorp responds by firing Bolkovac, who returns to the U.S. and files a wrongful termination case. She wins the suit but says she's still blacklisted.
Mandy's Mind: I like these true story movies.

The Perfect Age of Rock and Roll
Synopsis: Two estranged childhood friends channel their talent and passion for music into a cross-country road trip that brings them face to face with their past on a quest to confront the future.
Mandy's Mind: Doesn't interest me much personally, but I do like Ritter.

Final Destination 5
Synopsis: The fifth installment of the franchise in which teens escape a deadly accident only to later discover that death is hunting them down. The opening scene will involve a suspension bridge and another scene reportedly involves a character undergoing laser-eye surgery.
Mandy's Mind: I stopped watching after the 2nd I think... meh!

30 Minutes or Less
Nick (Jesse Eisenberg) is a small town pizza delivery guy whose mundane life collides with the big plans of two wanna-be criminal masterminds (Danny McBride and Nick Swardson). The volatile duo kidnaps Nick and forces him to rob a bank. With mere hours to pull off the impossible task, Nick enlists the help of his ex-best friend, Chet (Aziz Ansari). As the clock ticks, the two must deal with the police, hired assassins, flamethrowers, and their own tumultuous relationship.
Mandy's Mind: Director of Zombieland, Jesse Eisenberg, Danny McBride, Aziz Ansari, this is bound to be a stupid comedy I will probably enjoy.

The Help
Synopsis: Story follows a young white woman in the early 1960s in Mississippi who becomes interested in the plight of the African-American domestic servants that every family has working for them. She writes their stories about mistreatment, abuse and heartbreak, all just before the Civil Rights revolution.
Mandy's Mind: I am all about this movie. I love the casting, the plot, I am going to read the book. See more here.

Seven Days in Utopia
Synopsis: Luke Chisolm, a talented young golfer set on making the pro tour but his first big shot turns out to be a public disaster. Luke escapes the pressures of the game and finds himself unexpectedly stranded in Utopia, Texas. It is home to eccentric rancher Johnny Crawford who forces Luke to question not only his past choices, but his direction for the future.
Mandy's Mind: I love Melissa Leo's character acting and although this is not a movie I would usually choose to see, it looks like it could be good. Plus I have a major girlcrush on Deborah Ann Woll so - you know!

Conan the Barbarian
Synopsis: Since birth, Conan’s life has been marked by violence. And after watching his fellow tribesmen and his father brutally and cruelly killed, Conan vows to avenge his peoples’ slaughter, even if it means sacrificing his own life in the process.Writer: Sean Hood
Mandy's Mind: No interest.

Spy Kids
Synopsis: On the surface, Marissa Cortez Wilson (Jessica Alba) has it all...married to a famous spy hunting television reporter, a new baby and intelligent twin step kids. But in reality, trying to mother Rebecca (Rowan Blanchard) and Cecil (Mason Cook), who clearly don't want her around, is her toughest challenge yet. Also, her husband, Wilbur (Joel McHale), wouldn't know a spy if he lived with one which is exactly the case - Marissa's a retired secret agent.

Marissa's world is turned upside down when the maniacal Timekeeper (Jeremy Piven) threatens to take over the planet and she's called back into action by the head of OSS, home of the greatest spies and where the now-defunct Spy Kids division was created. With Armageddon quickly approaching, Rebecca and Cecil are thrust into action when they learn their boring stepmom was once a top agent and now the world's most competitive ten year olds are forced to put their bickering aside and rely on their wits. With a little help from a couple of familiar Spy Kids, Carmen (Alexa Vega) and Juni Cortez (Daryl Sabara), they just may be able to save the world and possibly bring their family together while they're at it.
Additional Notes: The Dimension movie is a reboot of sorts for the franchise, which initially starred Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara as the kids of superspy parents (Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino). Vega and Sabara are no longer kids but Robert Rodriguez wanted to continue the series.

4D with Aromascope: Spy Kids: All the Time in the World introduces audiences to the new adventure of 4D where they will have 8 special opportunities throughout the movie to access the action interactively through smell. With each individual admission ticket, kids and parents will also receive an Aromascope card that is free of charge with easy to read numbers outlined. As the numbers flash on the movie screen the audience will rub the corresponding number on their card. When each of the 8 aromas are unleashed you will get to experience a special moment in the film and be transported into scenes in the family adventure film.

Mandy's Mind: I am not a Spy Kids fan, but my daughter is and with this new scratch & Sniff stuff, I think it will be a hit. Though for me 4D is not smell, it's water splashed in my face and stuff... ha Also, I have to admit seeing Jessica (bitch) Alba as a mom really pleases me... she is getting old (ok we are the same age, but I am getting old too so what?) I just don't like Alba much... and yes I have met her, a couple times... wasn't thrilled.

Fright Night
Synopsis: A teenager discovers his neighbor is a vampire.
Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself.
Mandy's Mind: Colin Farrell as a vampire? Yes Please!

One Day
Synopsis: Dexter (Jim Sturgess) and Emma (Anne Hathaway) meet for the first time during their graduation and proceed to meet one day a year for the next 20 years. They experience different lives and loves until they realize they are meant for each other.
Mandy's Mind: I need to read the novel first to make an accurate judgement but I do like Anne Hathawat and Jim Sturgess so I think it will be an interesting love story! I am a sap for those kinds of things.

Flypaper
Synopsis: A man caught in the middle of two simultaneous robberies at the same bank desperately tries to protect the teller with whom he's secretly in love.
Mandy's Mind: The Town-esque?

The MistakenSynopsis: The story centers on an American man who becomes a terrorism suspect while traveling with his family.
Mandy's Mind: Could be interesting.

Amigo
Synopsis: The U.S. occupation of the Philippines in 1900 provides the backdrop to this story of squad of American soldiers who occupy a village and learn how to live and negotiate with the natives. They focus on the local head man who finds himself torn between loyalty to his family and the Americans.

Don't be Afraid of the Dark
Synopsis: A young girl is sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend and discovers sinister creatures that live underneath the stairs.
Mandy's Mind: Typical and probably predictable horror... a remake.. we will see how they do

Our Idiot Brother
Synopsis: An idealist, hounded by his overbearing mother, crashes into the homes of his three ambitious sisters and brings truth, happiness and a sunny disposition while also wreaking havoc.
Mandy's Mind: Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks and Zooey Deschanel peak my interest.

Columbiana
Synopsis: "Columbiana" is set in Latin America and the U.S. Saldana would play a young woman who, after witnessing her parents' murder as a child in Bogota, grows up to be a stone-cold assassin. She works for her uncle as a hitman by day, but her personal time is spent engaging in vigilante murders that she hopes will lead her to her ultimate target: the mobster responsible for her parents' death.
Mandy's Mind: Meh, My husband would enjoy this...

Circumstance
