Francis Lawrence to direct Mockingjay Part 1 and 2

Lionsgate has announced that Catching Fire’s director, Francis Lawrence will also direct Mockingjay Parts 1 & 2!
Mandy's Mind:
This is weird for me. We haven't seen Francis Lawrence's work on Catching Fire yet, and although I am sure it will be awesome, it just seems odd and a bit premature no? Unless they are slipping in some scenes filming now?
I know (sorry to comapre - again - but) Twilight had a different director for each movie, with Bill Condon doing the last two. So I can understand the same director for parts one and two of Mockingjay, however, I am not sure about having the same for Catching Fire and both parts of Mockingjay. Why didn't they keep Hunger Games director on? Were there problems?
Just an interesting announcement - what do you think?

SWATH Sequel seeking new director after Rupert Sanders affair with Kristen Stewart? Wife Liberty Ross says so!
Radar Online Reports:
Rupert Sanders has been told by wife Liberty Ross to forget about directing Snow White and the Huntsman 2 if he wants to win her back, RadarOnline.com is exclusively reporting.
The British model gave the stern warning to the movie director in a desperate bid to save their marriage after revelations he had an affair with Kristen Stewart .
Sanders, 41, was originally lined up to direct the sequel after it became a box office success. However, he is yet to sign an agreement with Universal Pictures who are considering putting someone else in the director’s chair.
“Liberty let it be known in no uncertain terms that Rupert can’t direct the sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman,” a source revealed.
“They are trying to work things out after he was caught having an affair, and that is one of the sticking points. She just doesn’t want him to ever work with Kristen again.
“Rupert is obviously disappointed because Snow White and the Huntsman was his directorial debut, and he had hoped on building on that with a follow-up after some decent reviews.
“But he knows his actions were inexcusable, and he’s going to have to bite the bullet and listen to his wife on this one.
“Also, when Rupert signed up for Snow White and the Huntsman, he didn’t know he was going to get a chance to direct a sequel. His contract with Universal was only for one movie. It was a verbal agreement that he was to take the reigns on the sequel, nothing was ever signed.
“Kristen, as the film’s lead, will get preference over Rupert and Universal will just find another director,” the source said.

More from L.A. - Wrapping up Convention, Hollywood and more
Once again Booboo and Tinsel showed their committment to fans staying quite late. Mia disappeared early on again and Christian stayed quite a while chatting with fans.
I had a great conversation with Christian Camargo, I totally love him! We chatted about Whistler, Vancouver, Olympic Village, Dexter.... gah!!! I also got a photo with him - totally amazeballs!
I also chatted with Charlie about Vancouver and skiing. Then this morning was the breakfast, a lot different than usual. Charlie had to catch his flight so he did a quick autograph and no table circulation.
Alex, Christian and Daniel, however, did the rounds at the tables and then autographs.
Daniel was sweet as ever, we chatted about bars in Vancouver and how he was wearing a poppy to represent Canada.
Alex was cute and cocky as always, but super sweet. We talked about Vancouver, in particular Coquitlam where Jacob's house is (for the films) I told him some history on that land/area and he shared some fun filming stories.
Christian bumped his leg on our table when he went to sit down. We had a brief chat, I stayed mostly quiet because I had chatted with him for so long last night, but a friend at the table said to him that I was a huge Dexter fan, and he said he knew and reminded me what he had said the night before... Stay tuned for more ice truck killer on dexter... *squee*
How incredible!
We got photos with Gina after (I used to watch her on Gladiators)
After that we tried the Metro and found it super fast to get to our hotel - SCORE!
Now it is ZZzzzzz time as tomorrow is another long day with Jimmy Kimmel to see Taylor Lautner as well as the Immortals Premier (no I amnot doing both, the cloning experiement failed unfortunately)
Wish you were all here - Having a blast!

Abduction VIP Screening #Abductionlive

Last night i drove down to Seattle with a friend to see the VIP Screening of Abduction. We arrived to our own mini red carpet complete with photo session, swag bag and VIP Treatment.
When we arrived we got an awesome Abduction t-shirt and walked the red carpet in the theatre to the photo session. There was a giant Abduction back drop which we could pose in front of and have our photos taken on their camera as well as our own if we asked.
Then we were given a swag bag with a cell phone/ipod case, a mini poster, and a VIP screening tag on a lanyard.
When we went into the theatre our seats were reserved with our group name and we had the best seats in the house (you know, 2nd row of the main section with the wheel chair seats in front so the bars are there to put your feet up on ha ha)
We watched the red carpet on the big screen and mingled with other fans.
Here are some red carpet photos:

Also my bloggy-buddies over at Twilightish have exclusive photos they got from the red carpet last night - HERE
We were snapping photos, tweeting, and having a great time.
Then the movie started and we put our phones away and enjoyed the flick.
It was such an amazing event and the movie was so much more than I expected. I mean, I knew it was an action film and hottie Taylor Lautner was in it BUT I thought the plot was really great. The story was well written and the twists and action scenes were just right.
I was impressed with Taylor's skills, I know he is a talented martial arts guy, but seeing him fight and jump and move - amazing!
I also thought his scenes with Lily Collins were quite emotional, their chemistry was pretty good and there is a scene on a train that was pretty hot!
The "bad guy" played by Michael Nyqvist was really awesome! Perfect villian really! I also enjoyed Denzel Whitaker as Nathan's best friend.
I won't spoil the plot but I realized I knew very little about this film before going in and was plesantly surprised by how it all played out. There was often uncertainty about who was good or bad and what their connection was to everything going on.
The best part for me was that I know I can take my husband to see it because he will love it also. It is a huge jump for Taylor Lautner, and I hope its a sign of the kinds of movies we can see from him in the future. He said on the red carpet how he had to leave Jacob Black behind while filming this movie because it was such a different role. I think it showcased his talent for stunts and acting and will lead to more big roles for him. The comments of being the next action star are NOT far-fetched, trust!
I also really liked knowing that there is room for a sequel, and on the red carpet before hand John Singleton hinted that there may in fact be on.... I really hope so!
It was aa long drive but well worth it for such a fun fan event and amazing movie! I can't wait to get the soundtrack on Tuesday and take my husband to see the movie next weekend!
Here are some interviews fromthe red carpet

Hunger Games Director Gary Ross discusses Teaser
Katniss Vision
Suzanne Collins’ novel is a first-person tale, and it’s clear from the teaser Ross is striving to capture that same sort of immediate access into Katniss’ head. “I think one of the most important things when you adapt a book like this is to give people the experience they really had when they read it — the same kind of visceral experience they had,” he explained. “I think [the reason] everybody felt so strongly in what Suzanne did was that they were with this character, they understood her, they were in her shoes, they were in her head. It was such an intense first-person experience. My job in making a film is first and foremost to reflect that.
“How do we get inside Katniss’ head? How do we feel what she’s feeling? How do we become her?” Ross continued. “The first thing that allows you to do that is Jennifer Lawrence, because she’s such an unbelievable actor. She has so much depth and power and talent and sophistication and sensitivity and subtly that she’s become Katniss Everdeen synonymously. I hope people feel about Jen and Katniss at the end of this three-book cycle the way they feel about Daniel Radcliffe and Harry Potter — that they’ve become very, synonymous with one another.”
Gale’s Voiceover
That voiceover you hear during the trailer? That’s Katniss’ District 12 pal Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth). And Ross has a very specific idea in mind about the importance of making Gale a part of this initial footage (and not Katniss’ Hunger Games companion, Peeta Mellark).
“As everyone knows, Gale is an enormous part of Katniss’ life, but he’s not as big a part of the first book as he is the subsequent books,” the director told us. “I think he’s very, very present and he’s tremendously important, but of course we shift into the Capitol and then the arena, where Peeta ends up playing a more prominent role. But he’s in her head, he’s in her life, he’s something that echoes with her throughout the games, as any reader of the book knows, so he plays an obviously prominent role.”
The Difficulty of the Shoot
Though Ross and his team didn’t have to contend with giant fireballs in the woods, as Katniss does in the first look, the filmmaker revealed that the set in the North Carolina forest posed quite a challenge to the production. “This was like shooting in Vietnam,” he said. “I felt like I was making ‘Apocalypse Now.’ The thing was so rigorous. We spent something like six weeks outside in the jungle every day, hiking up and down mountains with cameras and in the mud and in driving rain storms. We all felt it, but nobody felt it as much as Jen did. It’s been an intense physical experience for her.”
Just Getting Started
While Ross was proud to show off this initial footage, he told us this is only the beginning and that there are a few scenes and characters in particular that he can’t wait for people to see in the future. “We’re still shooting, so unfortunately, it’s just a teaser,” he said. “We could only give you a little bit, because we’re still down here making the movie. I’ve got to leave in half an hour and shoot. But there’s a lot of things to come that I think are going to be hugely epic and very emotional and incredibly powerful. I think that we’ve done wonderful things with the mutts. I think that we’ve done a tremendous job bringing the Capitol to life, and I think that’s going to be really, really exciting for people to see. And all the performances! Wait till you see Stanley Tucci do Caesar Flickerman.”

Hunger Games Teaser Trailer from MTV VMAs
Jennifer Lawrence introduced the clip and while I was disappointed we did not get more, it IS still filming, it IS just a teaser, and it WAS more than we would get from other production studios this early on *ahem*
Director Gary Ross told MTV:
The teaser comes to a close as Katniss indeed shows how good she is: arrow meeting flaming target. But all this is just a taste of what’s to come, as director Gary Ross told MTV News earlier this week. “We’re still shooting, so unfortunately it’s just a teaser. We could only give you a little bit because we’re still down here making the movie,” he said. “But there’s a lot of things to come that I think are going to be hugely epic and very emotional and incredibly powerful.”
Here is the clip:
I loved the landscape, I loved seeing Katniss' emotion as well as her amazing archery skills. The voice (of Gale?) was nice too, though seeing him and Peeta would have made it better (obviously) There is speculation that Rue's 4 note song is heard at the end (about 1 minute mark) though some complained it was X-filesy and not part of the trailer just MTV's thing - I guess we will soon find out. I like it as Rue's tune...
I want more... but I will be patient, well, as patient as possible...

The Host Director: Andrew Niccol
Deadline reports:
EXCLUSIVE: Andrew Niccol has been set as the director of The Host, directing his scripted adaptation of the bestselling novel by Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer.
The project, which is being shopped here at Cannes by Inferno Entertainment and producers Nick Wechsler and Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz, will star Saoirse Ronan.
After resisting overtures to sell the book, Meyer finally entrusted it with the producers, who gave her strong creative input. She chose Niccol originally because she was a fan of his film Gattaca and script for The Truman Show. While Niccol adapted the book into the current script, he exited to make the film Now, which he has completed with Justin Timberlake, Amanda Seyfried and Cillian Murphy starring. The producers went down the road with several directors, but talks with Niccol to return started heating up in recent weeks. Ronan ramped up interest in the film when she was set to star.
Ronan will play Melanie Stryder, one of the last humans putting up a fight against an alien species called Souls. These parasites invade human bodies, fuse to each person's consciousness and systematically erase their personalities. The story follows Melanie as she is captured by the aliens and implanted by a Soul called Wanderer, something of a legend because of all of the "hosts" she has attached to on numerous planets. Wanderer's goal is to get Melanie to give up the remaining pockets of humans, but instead the alien finds Melanie to be unique in her unwillingness to surrender her consciousness. Wanderer is so overwhelmed by Melanie's memories and feelings that she is driven to reconnect with Melanie's old life, which includes falling for Melanie’s boyfriend. The result is a complex, romantic and emotional human/alien love triangle.

Sofia Coppola talks Breaking Dawn with MTV
"While the "Breaking Dawn" director's chair for both parts 1 and 2 is officially occupied by Bill Condon, "Twilight" fans know that there were several other high-profile names attached to the project before Condon signed on.
Among them was "Lost in Translation" and "Marie Antoinette" director Sofia Coppola. When we caught up with the writer/director to discuss her upcoming Chateau Marmont-set film, "Somewhere," we asked her if there was any truth to the "Dawn" director rumors.
"Yeah, yeah, I talked to them about that," Coppola revealed to MTV News. "I was interested in doing something but I didn't end up doing it. But I love, I'm impressed by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattison pulling it off in that whole story," she said. "And my friend's kids love the story so much that I thought it would be fun to make something that they love so much."
Asked what she liked best about the blockbuster vampire franchise, Coppola admitted she goes weak in the knees for romance.
"I just love that it's so romantic," she told us. "I'm always a sucker for a love story and also to do something for teenagers, because I feel like, why not have beautiful cinematography and all these things in a kid movie? Usually it looks like it's not crafted very sophisticated, and I feel like it'd be nice to bring that kind of style into a younger film."
Perhaps the studio heads can line up Coppola for the talked-about film version of the "Eclipse" novella, "The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner"?"

Loosies starring Peter Facinelli filming

Director Michael Corrente is sitting on a director’s chair in a hallway of the old Cranston police station watching a widescreen TV monitor where Peter Facinelli is playing an emotion-charged scene in the movie “Loosies.”
Facinelli, co-star of the highly successful “Twilight” movies and Showtime TV’s “Nurse Jackie,” is in his undershirt at a kitchen table which is part of a movie-set kitchen that’s on the other side of the partition directly behind Corrente.
The set, which is supposed to be in a New York City apartment, is so tiny there’s room to fit only the actors, cinematographer and sound man. But Corrente, who is directing his first film since “Brooklyn Rules” in 2007, says it doesn’t matter that he’s not up front with the actors. With the new digital technology, which allows the camera to hone in blazingly close on Facinelli’s eyelashes, he can direct the movie via TV monitor, with only occasional forays onto the actual set where Facinelli’s character is having a tense moment with his mother, played by Marianne Leone of “The Sopranos.”

David Slade thanks fans
"When you put your heart and soul into something as intense as the duration of a film production, you become completely lost in it. You
focus on doing your very best to get it right each day and you work on
this for so long that you assume an ownership of it.
When shooting The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, I always felt an awareness of
how many people this film would reach and as a result, knew that this
film did not just belong to myself, the producers and the studio, but
more so, to all of you, the fans of The Twilight Saga.
At the end of the day, after all the hard work is done, all that's left
is the film itself, and your overwhelmingly positive and supportive
responses have made me feel like we must have done something right. As a
filmmaker, this is a rare and strange feeling of connection with an
audience of which I will never forget and I thank you all for it."

Bill Condon is 'excited' to shoot Bella's Extreme Birth Scene
NBC’s popcornbiz had the chance to chat with Breaking Dawn Movie director Bill Condon about his progress with the final film so far:
“I’m not even in Twilight-land yet,” the director told PopcornBiz.
Instead, the Oscar-winning director is kept up at night by fixating on his HBO pilot “Tilda” starring Diane Keaton and Ellen Page. “That’s all I’m thinking about right now,” he said.
After he’s done with that, Condon will start thinking about the “Breaking Dawn” and the series’ conclusion. The thought of the seemingly daunting task before him only gets Condon pumped up. He even said he’s “excited” to shoot Bella’s extreme birth scene.
“I’m just so turned on by this book,” Condon said. “It’s everything you hope could happen in a book, plus the strangest things you could ever imagine.”

A Note from Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon
Greetings Twihards, Twifans, Twilight Moms, Team Edward, Team Jacob and Team Switzerland,
I just want to say hello to all of you and let you know that I'm stoked to be getting underway on the adventure of making BREAKING DAWN. As you've probably heard, I've been given a very warm welcome by Stephenie and Team Summit - who are super-focused, as you know, on getting these movies right.
I'm pretty busy bringing myself up to speed on what you already know by heart: I've read BREAKING DAWN twice, rewatched Catherine's and Chris's movies 2-3 times each, have all four CDs playing in my car, and have Catherine's notebook, Mark Cotta Vaz's companion books, and even Volume 1 of the graphic novel here on my desk - a corner of my office is starting to look like Hot Topic. I realize that this barely qualifies me for "newborn" status in the universe you've been living inside for a few years now, but a guy's gotta start somewhere.
Like many of you, I've always been slightly obsessed with vampires, dating back to the prime-time series DARK SHADOWS, which I followed avidly as a kid. But that alone hadn't been enough to get me interested in making a vampire movie, even though my early screenwriting and directing efforts grew out of a great love for horror movies and thrillers. Since making GODS AND MONSTERS thirteen years ago, however, I've been yearning for a return to a story with Gothic overtones.
The wonderful world that Stephenie has created has obviously struck a chord with you, and I don't think it's difficult to see why. For me, her characters are simultaneously timeless, yet very modern. Rooted in a beautiful, real landscape with a great sense of place, Bella, Edward, Jacob, and the rest of the Forks/La Push menagerie, experience emotions that are primal, and universal: desire, despair, jealousy - and it all comes to fruition in BREAKING DAWN. This is a final chapter in the best sense; not just wide in scope and scale, but emotionally charged and intense throughout.
I'm a huge admirer of the already-iconic Kristen, Robert, and Taylor, and wanted to be the one to work with them as they face the challenges of bringing your beloved characters to the end of their journeys. Really, what could be more fun than that?
Please feel free to ask questions in the comments section below, and I'll do my best to answer them. I hope that this will be the first of many occasions I'll get to check in with you as we set to work bringing BREAKING DAWN to the screen. I am excited and grateful to have all of you alongside me for my TWILIGHT journey.
All best,
Bill Condon
P.S. Answer #1: No, there won't be any musical numbers
Love it.... Fantastic he is reaching out to fans already! Ask him questions here though he had over 500 in first 15 minutes!!!

What kind of 'Breaking Dawn' will Bill Condon make?
Summit confirmed this morning that, as the rumor mill in Hollywood has been churning for weeks, "Dreamgirls" director Bill Condon will come on to direct the fourth installment in the "Twilight" franchise, no doubt prompting an unlikely spike in "Gods & Monsters" DVD sales among teenage girls. (Condon's name was first reported as a "Breaking Dawn" candidate back in March by Entertainment Weekly.)
Condon has generally been thought of as the more logical choice, at least compared to some of the other directors under consideration, like Sofia Coppola and Stephen Daldry.
In making the choice, Summit, which has gone for a different type of director for each film in the franchise, clearly wanted someone with more Oscar chops (Condon's won one and been nominated for a second). That's both because the "Breaking Dawn" material is a little more complicated than the previous books and because with the franchise already an unstoppable juggernaut, they can afford to take a risk, at least a small one.
So what kind of teen-vampire fable will the man responsible for "Dreamgirls," "Gods & Monsters" and "Kinsey" make? None of his previous directing credits are obvious analogues to this movie (though the initial frenzy over him as a candidate was a little baffling; good filmmakers reinvent themselves all the time. And it's nothing compared to Rob Marshall, another man known for musicals, taking on "Pirates of the Caribbean 4").
Each of Condon's directorial films (he also wrote "Chicago," but we'll leave that one out) contains a strand that can be put front and center in "Breaking Dawn" if the director chose (some spoilers ahead if you're not familiar with the novel).
"Dreamgirls," for all its pomp, centers on the larger world persecuting an anointed one, a neat parallel to the ordeal faced by Bella's child. It also tells a sprawling story from several perspectives, as the "Breaking Dawn" novel does.
"Monsters," which tells of the personal and creative trouble of "Bride of Frankenstein" director James Whale, could come in handy if Condon wanted to explore the demons that come from within, a plight particularly faced by Bella throughout the series.
And a "Kinsey" influence would mean the foregrounding of a misunderstood but right-minded outsider, which kind of describes all three main protagonists in the series but especially, in this book, describes Jacob, who breaks away from his family over their murderous intentions for Bella's child.
As a rule, Condon has been preoccupied with the underdog in his movies, though one who ultimately triumphs and finds vindication, which fits nicely with the themes of "Twilight."
Still, plenty of other questions will arise as production moves forward -- namely, whether the film will shoot in 3-D, how the likely second film that will come from the "Breaking Dawn" novel will be developed, and how the timing of this one will unfold, with Summit eager to keep the momentum going but Condon, like most Oscar winners, accustomed to working at a slower pace.
In "Gods & Monsters," Condon depicted a filmmaker beset by troubles as he tried to make an expectation-laden tale of the supernatural. Here's hoping life doesn't imitate art.

Fans Opinions Matter - Rant about Current State of Twilight Saga
Since news of Eclipse reshoots broke Wednesday, the internet has been a frenzy of gossip, rumours and speculation. Even "official" word is being doubted.
Fans are what drive the Twilight Saga. Let's face it, before Twilight Summit was not exactly known as a successful or well-known company.
Twilight was an "unexpected hit" while New Moon came together rather nicely (minus a few seconds of vampire Bella frolicking in the forest) and now we have some chaos. I am not blaming Summit or any one person or department but it seems things are VERY different right now than they have been in the past.
First we have Eclipse "trouble" rumours galore (let's face it all rumours have to come from SOMEWHERE, even common sense) and second, we have massive Breaking Dawn secrecy borderline coverups.... Fans opinions matter... and I want to know how youa re feeling right now about the Twilight Saga.
Personally here are my thoughts:
The word is still June 30, 2010, and I really really doubt Summit could get away with changing that date.... there would surely be a twi-riot ha ha
That being said, how many hours will people be working to make this film come together by June 30 and how tired will they be and how rushed will they be?
Eclipse is my favourite book and the movie I am most looking forward to and I am fearful they will eff it up!
Everyone involved with the films always say "we know we can't please everyone" but I think (while a true fact) it's kind of a cop out and if that's the mentality they have going into this - I am more worried about thr outcome.
I usually say I can't wait for June 30 but at this point I am ok with the wait as long as they have time to get it right!
On the flip side - coming back to Vancouver to film reshoots for Eclipse makes me excited that Breaking Dawn will be announced here also.
The production team is coming back and has ANOTHER opportunity to speak with BC Film Commissionand hopefully make it official that they will return to Vancouver to film.
"Our rehiring upset David Slade who has worked closely with him before, however, we are working through these issues and all have a common - goal of giving the fand a fantastic movie"
"Going through footage we realized we need more shots here and there and are going in for reshoots to ensure the best quality film for fans"
"We have decided on a location for Breaking Dawn but in the interest of surprise and security we are not announcing it until closer to the filming start date"
"Our Breaking Dawn director is (Bill Condon?) but we want to keep him happy and safe so we are not announcing it until closer to filming start date so he is not harassed by twilight fans daily leading to his exhaustion before filming even begins"
"We realize fans want more so we will release one official still a month/week leading up to the movies release so that we don't have to be dickheads and chase after fans who post leaked photos that were stolen from us because we are too secretive and elusive"
"We are sorry to go after fans who promote us for free and help us keep our mansions and fancy cars, instead of trying to sue them and make their lives miserable we are going to thank them with passes to the premiere and public apology"
"We know we don't actually own the rights to the image of people holding apples, we just like to pretend we own the world because we had one major mega successful saga"
"Yes are in bed with the devil... but he's hot and we like it"
Ok - maybe I kid... or maybe not...
The point is things are different and I don't like it... I miss good old Twilight/New Moon days... simpler times... ha ha
What do you think?
Share your opinionson everything in the comments.

Bill Condon front runner to direct Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn
EXCLUSIVE: Bill Condon has emerged as the number one choice to direct the final two installments of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, I’m told. Summit Entertainment hasn’t signed him, but I’m told that after several strong meetings, they are negotiating. Condon was among a list of A-list directors approved by Summit and Twilight author Stephenie Meyer. That list included Gus Van Sant, Sofia Coppola and Fernando Meirelles.
Shooting will begin in the fall, and I heard the plan is to shoot two films back to back. That was just what my colleague Nikki Finke reported. She also wrote that Summit was looking for a big director and Dreamgirls and Gods and Monsters director Condon certainly fits that bill.
Presumably, Condon would do this as his next project, and push back the picture he had planned to direct. That’s an adaptation of Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, which he was putting together to be distributed by Fox Searchlight. Casting had been difficult on that one, as Colin Firth was in and out, along with Rachel Weisz and Kristin Scott Thomas.
The Twilight job came open when The Twilight Saga: New Moon director Chris Weitz decided not to reprise, despite directing a film that grossed $707 million worldwide., almost doubling the Catherine Hardwicke-directed original's $385 million worldwide gross. New Moon also broke Twilight's opening weekend DVD sale record when it moved 4 million units to the 3.8 million of the original Twilight, which went on to become 2009's top DVD title with 9.2 million sales. David Slade helmed the upcoming installment, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which Summit releases June 30.
Condon is also going to direct the Richard Pryor biopic that will star Marlon Wayans and will be made by Columbia Pictures through a put deal held by Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison, which is a producer on the project. Like Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, that is going to have to wait for Condon to finish the double feature.
Hollywood hasn't given Summit its due on the Twilight pictures. Like them or not, these pictures have been better than they had to be, given the ferocious fan base. They are exciting movies with a fresh contemporary feel. That Summit keeps pushing the envelope, where director quality is concerned, says a lot in how to keep franchises engaging for fans--something that studios now readying prequels, four-quels and reboots, would be smart to emulate.
Twilight Lexicon says:
Mike is a colleague of Nikki Finke, who was the person who previously broke the story that Sofia Coppola and Gus Van Sant along with Condon were in the running. Nikki tends to get things right, but she isn’t fool proof. Notably she got the Eclipse director wrong initially stating that Juan Antonio Bayora would get the gig.
Hoping that a decision is made and publicized soon and we can get into the details like when they will start shooting here in Vancouver ;)
What are your thoughts on Bill Condon as potential director?
