Veronica Roth updates fans on Four's Short Stories

According to Veronica Roth's Tumblr The short stories from Four's perspective have been delayed, but will be longer - - so I guess that is good news bad news eh? Here is what she wrote:
Bad News: the three remaining stories from Four’s perspective that I’ve been working on, which were supposed to come out later this year/early next year, have been delayed until July 2014. They’ll be bundled together and sold as a hardcover under the title Four: A Divergent Collection, with some fun extra content, and at that time they will also be released as separate e-stories (so, if you’ve already bought the first one, “The Transfer,” you don’t have to pay again for it in a collection if you don’t want to).
transferIf you are asking, incredulously, “why, Veronica? Why must you do this to us?!" My answer is: the stories turned out much meatier and more substantial than I was originally anticipating when I started them. There’s just so much going on—Tobias’s reunion with his mother, his growing disillusionment with the faction system, and some of his early moments with Tris, to name a few. So I just really, really need more time to get them right. I know it sucks, but I am sure that this extra time will result in better work and better stories for everyone to read.
Okay. Good News:
-If you already pre-ordered the second story, “The Initiate,” your pre-order will not be canceled. It will just take a little longer for you to get it.
-The stories are long. As in, they’re about seventy pages each, so if you add them together you get about 280 pages of Tobias’s story. Which is as long as some novels. So there’s more to read!
-The price for the e-stories will not change, even though they’re longer than anticipated.

-The stories will be better in July than they would have been if they had come out this winter, because I’m going to work my butt off to make them that way!

Veronica Roth calls: SHENANIGANS!

I love this because in my younger years "SHENANGIANS" was something we would often "call" and I think it is fitting for this situation: (from her tumblr)
So, every so often an Allegiant “spoiler” will pop up on Tumblr or on Twitter and I get a lot of frantic questions about it. It’s kind of tough to answer those questions, and here’s why:
Reader: “Is it true you said Tobias doesn’t die in the third book? I saw it on Tumblr!”
Me: “It is not true that I said that. I never said anything about who dies or who doesn’t die.”
Reader: “Ahh! This must mean that he DOES die!”
Me: “No, it doesn’t!”
Reader: “So you’re saying he doesn’t?! I am so relieved!”
Me: “I am not saying that either! All I’m saying is that I didn’t say that thing that Tumblr said I said.”
Reader: “Wait, what?"
And so on.
I love that so many people are so concerned about what happens in book 3, because it means that you care, and that is awesome. I am lucky to have readers who want to throttle me for answers, really. I’m just trying to find a way to clarify things without alarming anyone with the pesky limitations of the English language, so here are the things I have actually said about Allegiant:
-It contains both Tris and Tobias’s POVs (points of view), alternating by chapter. (More on that here.)
-It is slightly longer than Divergent and Insurgent
-In it, you will find out what’s outside the fence
…and I’m pretty sure that’s it? And honestly, it’s pretty much all I will say before it comes out, because I want everyone to have a clean slate when they crack it open. Or as clean a slate as possible.
I feel like we need a word for “I did not say [insertspoilerhere] but I’m not saying it’s not true and I’m not saying it is true, I’m just saying that I didn’t say it.” Maybe it can be…shenanigans?
As in:
Reader: “Veronica, did you say THIS?”
Me: “Shenanigans!”
Reader: “Ah, that clears it up.”
I’m going with it.
In other news, I am REALLY enjoying reading some of your theories about what’s going to happen. We will see if you are right…on October 22nd.
Or whenever you get around to reading it. It’s cool.
I friggin' love her!

Oh and there is that time I met her and hung out at a party with her and had a great convo about my life and my dreams and her writing and her life... ya, that!

What's Different About Canada - epic tumblr account you need to follow!!

http://whatsdifferentincanada.tumblr.com/

You need to see this tumblr site - epic... I submitted some posts which I hope to see featured soon but all my friends who tease me about my Canadian ways... well, you will love this site as much as I do!!

Tim Hortons (“Timmies”) is the Canadian version of Dunkin Donuts. Its history is so Canadian it’s named after hockey player Tim Horton - the apostrophe was dropped so the name makes more sense in Quebec. They are finally making their way into the states, but have been in US border cities like Rochester for a while. The most common order is a “double double,” that is, a coffee with two milks and two sugars.

When ordering toast at a Canadian restaurant, you will be asked if you want “white or brown toast?” Don’t be alarmed, “brown toast” is actually whole wheat toast.

In the US, “Smarties” is a chalky, tart, stackable candy that comes in little plastic wrappers. (This candy is called “Rockets” north of the border.) In Canada, Smarties are candy-coated chocolates - sort of like unlabeled M&Ms that come in dark blue boxes.

It’s a common trope that Canadians are polite, but the quintessential Canadian experience is when you bump into somebody, it’s clearly your fault, and they apologize to you. It is part of a complex national identity that is sometimes self-deprecating, other times passive-aggressive, and cannot be reconciled with a single word. But in general, Canadians are a polite and apologetic people, and sorry (“SORE-ee”) is the sound of being in Canada.
Suggested by just about everybody.
