Fan Encounter with Hunger Games Peeta aka Josh Hutcherson in Charlotte NC

Maggie, a Hunger Games fan, shared her encounter with Josh Hutcherson with the fan site The Hob:

Josh Hutcherson came over to us and started up a conversation. He was very kind and personable. His hair is very blonde, even more so in person then in the pictures from Entertainment Weekly. He said that at that moment Jennifer was inside the theater filming her interview scene. Then he autographed our books and hugged us goodbye. We then went away so star struck from meeting Josh that we didn’t even notice that we walked by Lenny Kravitz. Only after the fact did someone point out to us that we had just came within feet of Lenny!

Hunger Games Filming Pre-Game Interviews at Knight Theatre

WCNC, a local news station in Charlotte, NC reports that the Hunger Games movie production is filming today outside the Knight Theater at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. With scenes being shot in a large theater, I think we can safely assume that the interviews are being shot here. Can’t you just see Cinna sitting in the front, silently coaching Katniss?

“As the audience oohs and ahs, I see Cinna make the tiniest circular motion with his finger. But I know what he’s saying. Twirl for me.“

Filming Update for The Hunger Games

This is so exciting! I can't wait to see this movie! I am still picturing Cinna as Thomas Dekker:

I know - random!

But I am sure Lenny will do a fabulous job! I really wish there were more set photos and updates on this top secret film!

This was my first guesses for casting in January.

Lenny Kravitz did not audition for role of Cinna in Hunger Games

Seems Lenny Kravitz was simply offered the job after his amazing role in Precious.

The Hunger Games fans still harboring doubts about Lenny Kravitz may be even more doubtful when they hear that he didn’t audition for the role. Details has posted a Q&A with Lenny in which he speaks very briefly about his casting:

“I honestly hadn’t heard of them before the director called me. I hope the fans don’t hate me for that. He had seen my work in Precious and called and offered me the part of Cinna, who is the stylist for the main character, Katniss. He saw how I played a caregiver in Precious and figured I might be good for Cinna. I didn’t have to audition, so I’m lucky.”

But, never fear fans.... Lenny is doing his research and is almost done Catching Fire:

MTV News caught up with Lenny Kravitz to talk about his upcoming album Black & White America and he confirmed that he’s finished ‘The Hunger Games’ and has started reading ‘Catching Fire’.

“When asked how he is preparing for what may end up being quite a dramatic scene in the movie’s sequel, Kravitz simply replied, “I’ll do it as best as I can.”"

Lenny Kravitz interviewed by CNN - Hunger Games Cinna role discussed

CNN Interviewed Lenny Kravitz and discussed his new role as Cinna.

Musician and actor Lenny Kravitz told CNN today that he was already friendly with Jennifer Lawrence when he got the call to be Cinna in The Hunger Games. Lawrence had spent some time at his home in Paris while filming parts of X-Men: First Class with Kravitz’s daughter Zoe Kravitz.

Admitting that he hasn’t seen any of the online controversy about the film’s casting, Kravitz acknowledged the seriousness of the fanbase, “…Yeah, the fans don’t play.”

I admit I was shocked about the casting to as I wrote HERE but I am excited to see him take on the role. They better glitter him up something fierce though ;)

Lenny Kravitz as Nurse John in Precious

It was announced yesterday that Lenny Kravitz was cast as Cinna in The Hunger Games. I have mixed feelings as you can read at the end of this post but overall I think he will do well.

Director Gary Ross said that it was Lenny’s work in the movie Precious that impressed him. “I was just knocked out,” Ross said. “It was quiet and strong and understated and open-hearted: all qualities which define this character.”

So here is Lenny Kravitz playing Nurse John in Precious....

About The Role
Cinna is Katniss Everdeen’s assigned fashion stylist for the highly ceremonial lead up to The 74th Annual Hunger Games. Though he’s a mild mannered first time stylist, the designs he creates, such as the “Girl On Fire” costume for the tributes’ live televised debut, are show-stopping. With odds being set, wagers being placed, and wealthy benefactors able to occasionally intervene in the games, a high public profile is tantamount to a huge advantage for any contestant entering the arena. The stunning and unique designs Cinna creates for Katniss define her public identity, and in an all too real way, could also contribute to her very survival.

About Lenny Kravitz
Regarded as one of the preeminent rock musicians of our time, Lenny Kravitz has transcended genre, style, race and class into a 20-year musical career, one which revels in the rich influences of '60s and '70s soul, rock and funk. From 1999 to 2002, he won four consecutive Grammy Awards, setting a record for the most wins in the “Best Male Rock Vocal Performance” category with his single “Dig In” (previously winning for “Again,” “American Woman” and “Fly Away”).
In 2009, Kravitz appeared in a supporting role in the critically-acclaimed film Precious, for which he has received a 2010 NAACP Image Awards nomination for “Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture.” Kravitz and the acclaimed Precious cast also received a 2010 Screen Actors Guild nod for "Best Ensemble.” In addition to his role in Precious, Kravitz has also appeared in such films as The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and Zoolander. Marking his first release of new material in three years, Lenny Kravitz will release his highly-anticipated ninth studio album, Black and White America on August 30th. www.lennykravitz.com.

About The Film
Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. Part twisted entertainment, part government intimidation tactic, the Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains.
Pitted against highly-trained Tributes who have prepared for these Games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy. If she’s ever to return home to District 12, Katniss must make impossible choices in the arena that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

THE HUNGER GAMES will be directed by Gary Ross, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. Collins’ best-selling novel, which has over 3 million copies in print in the United States alone, is the first in a trilogy of novels which have developed a global following.

Lionsgate will release “The Hunger Games” on March 23, 2012.

MANDY'S MIND - This is NOT what I envisioned.. I pictured a YOUNG, CUTE, (yes, also white) "FABBBULOUS" Gay man.... Not that Lenny won't do a great job, I am sure he will - but WHAT????

What do you think about this? I am still shocked... I had so many ideas for Cinna...So did fans at ReelzChannel but Lenny is not at all what I pictured.

All I am saying is they better some damn fabulous gold eyeliner up on him! He is such a manly man, I hope he can femme it up a tad for me :)
