Nominations for MTV Movie Awards
As a Canadian who thinks MTV hates Canada (can't watch their videos here) I was curious what had happened. The responses I got were that MTV *ONLY* nominated Twilight for best kiss and best movie.... ok... huh?
Well, in the past Twilight has been nominated for every possible category (Best Male, Best Female, Best Cast, Best Fight, Break Through, and so on...) in the past, Twilight has also swept most of the categories it has been nominated for.
So here is a thought... who cares?
We all love Twilight, we know if nominated it would sweep, but honestly, is an MTV Movie award so prestigious that we need every category nominated and won? For serious folks?!?!
I am not offended by this, there *ARE* other movies that exsist... *shocker* and although I have enjoyed the MTV/Twilight awards in the past, I am ok with recognizing other flicks... and yes that includes making way for the new Hunger Games.
I don't know if they will go with a Harry Potter Sweep as a final good-bye or a Hunger Games sweep as a big push/welcome.... You never know.... but it is rarely spread out evenly ha ha!
Anyways - here are the nominations and who I would LIKE (italics) to win and who I THINK (bold) will win (not always the same)
Movie of the Year
» "Bridesmaids"
» "The Hunger Games"
» "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2"
» "The Help"
» "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1"
*This is hard. I loved all these movies, but it is Harry Potter's last shot - they should win!!! I also thought The Help was an amazing movie. But of course I have an undying love for BD1 and Hunger Games, but they both have more chances.... anyways - Harry Potter.
Best Male Performance
» Daniel Radcliffe, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2"
» Ryan Gosling, "Drive"
» Joseph Gordon-Levitt, "50/50"
» Josh Hutcherson, "The Hunger Games"
» Channing Tatum, "The Vow"
*Channing is my man, I always choose him. But I also LOVE Ryan Gosling #2 after Channing so this is tough. Again, HP's last shot so Daniel coudl take it. Lastly, or maybe it should have been firstly, I LOVE Josh. Man, this is tough!
Best Female Performance
» Jennifer Lawrence, "The Hunger Games"
» Kristin Wiig, "Bridesmaids"
» Emma Stone, "Crazy, Stupid Love"
» Emma Watson, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2"
» Rooney Mara, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"
*Rooney was amazing. These are all great nominees, but I have a girlcrush on Emma Stone, so I have to pick her. Again with HP over, I feel like they may take it all home, then again, maybe Hunger Games will take it all as the "new comer" - I don't know but I do feel it is rigged for publicity.
Best Comedic Performance
» Kristen Wiig, "Bridesmaids"
» Zach Galifianakis, "The Hangover Part II"
» Jonah Hill, "21 Jump Street"
» Oliver Cooper, "Project X"
*Gotta go with 21 and Chan's buddy Jonah. Though Kristen Wiig is like the most hilarious actress and I would love to see a female take this....
Breakthrough Performance
» Melissa McCarthy, "Bridesmaids"
» Rooney Mara, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"
» Liam Hemsworth, "The Hunger Games"
» Elle Fanning, "Super 8"
» Shailene Woodley, "The Descendants"
*omg this is tough too - I loved Melissa McCarthy, and Liam is dreamy, but I have to fo with Rooney - she ROCKED that role!
Best Cast
» "Bridesmaids"
» "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2"
» "The Hunger Games"
» "21 Jump Street"
» "The Help"
*Again, I want to say HP or HG but because of my loyalty to Channing I pick him - always! Then Emma stone (Help) but I guess based on MTV Hunger Games will win (or HP - again as I have said, depending on if they are going for the big bang goodbye HP or the big band welcome HG)
Best On-Screen Transformation
» Elizabeth Banks, "The Hunger Games"
» Rooney Mara, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo"
» Johnny Depp, "21 Jump Street"
» Michelle Williams, "My Week With Marilyn"
» Colin Farrell, "Horrible Bosses
*Effie was amazing. Lisbeth was bad ass. I didn't recognize Johnny. Michelle BECAME Marilyn. Colin Farrell got ugly. That being said, I decided how I did.
Best Fight
» Daniel Radcliffe vs. Ralph Fiennes, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2"
» Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson vs. Alexander Ludwig, "The Hunger Games"
» Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill vs. Kid Gang, "21 Jump Street"
» Tom Hardy vs. Joel Edgerton, "Warrior"
» Tom Cruise vs. Michelle Nyqvist, "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol
Best Kiss
» Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone, "Crazy, Stupid, Love"
» Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2"
» Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson, "The Hunger Games"
» Rachel McAdams and Channing Tatum, "The Vow"
» Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1"
*This one I don't choose Channing, I don't want to see them kidd on stage... I already saw McAdams do that with Ryan Gosling (My #2) when he was wearing his Darfur tee and they re-enacted the running kiss from Notebook - heavenly.... That being said, seeing Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone do it would be amazing - especially with McAdams watching, remembering what she used to have... though isn't she still with Michael Sheen? anyways.... I vote Rob & Kristen - of course - and pray they finally effin' actually just kiss - seriously? Grow up and do it! No more games! I almost don't want them to win because I don't want to ensure another stupid antic.
Best Gut-Wrenching Performance
» "Bridesmaids" (Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McClendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper)
» "The Help" (Bryce Dallas Howard)
» "21 Jump Street" (Jonah Hill and Rob Riggle)
» "Drive" (Ryan Gosling)
» "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" (Tom Cruise)
Best On-Screen Dirt Bag
» Bryce Dallas Howard, "The Help"
» Jon Hamm, "Bridesmaids"
» Jennifer Aniston, "Horrible Bosses"
» Colin Farrell, "Horrible Bosses"
» Oliver Cooper, "Project X"
Best Music
» "Party Rock Anthem," LMFAO ("21 Jump Street")
» "A Real Hero," College with Electric Youth ("Drive")
» "The Devil Is in the Details," Chemical Brothers ("Hanna")
» "Impossible," Figurine ("Like Crazy")
» "Pursuit of Happiness," Kid Cudi (Steve Aoki remix) ("Project X")
What are your predictions? I could be way off - I think where I will be wrong is where I went Hunger Games or Harry Potter and it's the opposite....

CONFIRMED: Darren Criss to take over for Daniel Radcliffe in Broadway's 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying'
There were rumours that Darren Criss would replace Daniel Radcliffe in How to Succeed in Business without really trying but not it has been confirmed! Daniel Radcliffe's last performance will be January 1, 2012, after which time, Darren Criss will take over for at least 3 weeks.
LA Times writes:
Darren Criss, who plays the character Blaine Anderson on Fox's "Glee," will make his Broadway debut in January after Daniel Radcliffe leaves the Broadway revival of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying."
Organizers confirmed Monday the rumors that Criss will take the lead role of J. Pierrepont Finch in the musical, playing at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Radcliffe is scheduled to leave the show Jan. 1, and Criss will step in for three weeks from Jan. 3 to 22. It's unclear if the musical will continue beyond that date, though at least one report indicates that the producers want it to.
It's so ironic, since Darren Criss first made himself known from doing the Harry POtter Musical on youtube, and now he is taking over for "Harry Potter" on broadway!

Nerdy, Sexy, Daniel Radcliffe says Robert Pattinson is the sex symbol

Elle Canada writes:
Daniel Radcliffe is "short and nerdy".
The 21-year-old actor - best known for playing the titular boy wizard in the 'Harry Potter' movie series - admits he used to want to be regarded as a sex symbol, but appreciates he is not conventionally attractive.
He said: "There was a time when I wanted to be that guy who's sexy and cool and all that stuff.
"If people find me sexy or cool, it's because they like short little nerdy guys. And we do have our niche."
Daniel also admitted he doesn't think his fans view him in the same was as 'Twilight' devotees do Robert Pattinson because they have seen him grow up on screen.
He explained to the British edition of GQ magazine: "There's more of a sexual energy behind 'Twilight' fans. Because people have mostly grown up with me, they tend to think of me as an older brother kind of figure. Whereas I think Rob is the sex symbol. And also, I guess, he's out there more than I am, going to parties and things.
"I think everyone goes to more parties than me, so it's not really a big competition."
The 21-year-old British star is currently dating an unnamed member of the 'Harry Potter' team and says he is attracted to her because she is "cool and sane".
He said: "It was one of those things where we were both in relationships and I broke up with my previous girlfriend and I was suddenly like, 'Oh, I quite fancy you and I never even noticed that before.'
"She's just really, really cool and lovely and sane - which is what I'm after."

Who will play Fletcher Christian in "Isabella"?

British icon Fletcher Christian is set to return to the big screen in "Isabella," a feature film adaptation of the novel by Fiona Mountain. The novel was short listed for the Parker Romantic Novel of the Year.
The project, which is not yet set up at a studio, is set in the English Lake District and details Mr. Christian’s passionate love affair with his cousin, Isabella Curwen – an affair which many believe set the stage for the Bounty mutiny. The story also explores the rumors of Fletcher’s return to England after the mutiny.
As a sweeping historical romance, producer Darren Reagan believes "Isabella" is a unique and highly commercial project. “'Isabella' is a timeless tragedy like ‘Romeo and Juliet’ combined with the mystery and mythology of the ‘Bounty’ story,” says Reagan.
According to screenwriter Michaela Lewis, “Fletcher Christian remains one of cinema’s iconic antiheros, but previous films barely scratched the surface of Fletcher’s ambitious and flawed family - we’ve never seen the passionate love story that lead to the mutiny.”
Reagan adds, “It’s ironic that no British actor has ever portrayed the legendary mutineer. We think the time has come for someone like Robert Pattinson, Daniel Radcliffe or Jamie Bell to follow in the footsteps of Errol Flynn, Clark Gable and Marlon Brando and portray Fletcher Christian.”

Robert Pattinson's Co-Stars Comments on him....
Everyone who has ever worked with Robert Pattinson - from Ashley Greene to Pierce Brosnan to Christina Ricci - has been falling over themselves to heap praise on the down-to-earth star.
Here are just some of the comments:
"As a person, he's not like anyone I've ever met in Hollywood, and as an actor he's a complete natural. He has no ego. Everyone loves him, but he's una ffected by that and never seems fazed by the attention that comes his way." - Ashley Greene (Twilight Saga)
"And working with Rob was amazing. He's such a great guy, so talented." - Christina Ricci (Bel Ami)
He's is a super nice guy. I'm really happy for him that he's gone on to be so uber successful."- Emma Watson (Harry Potter)
"Rob Pattinson is a sex symbol. Rob Pattinson is a genuine sexy guy." - Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter)
"[Robert is a] shy guy...humble. I don't think anything can get to him really. He's so talented. I've never met someone who can just do anything and everything!" - Kellan Lutz (Twilight Saga)
"I think he wants to be a serious actor, and he is a lovely guy. So realizing what he has to deal with, all the demands of the Twilight popularity and the distractions, I think he's handling it amazingly well." - Chris Cooper (Remember Me)
"He's a really great actor and a really good guy." - Hugh Jackman (Unbound Captives)
"I think he's bold and different" - Kristen Stewart (Twilight Saga)

More Edward vs Harry Potter
Daniel Radcliffe compared himself to his former Harry Potter costar, in an interview with MTV:
“Rob Pattinson is a genuine sexy guy. He's got the height. If girls like short and nerdy, then I'm a sex symbol!"
"I've said probably three words to him in the last three years and that was before Twilight all kicked off,” said Daniel.
“But I wish him well. Hopefully, I'll see him at some point.”

Harry Potter / Twilight Connections
Now Jamie Campbell Bower is in the last Harry Potter film (Deathly Hallows part I and part II, both being filmed now) as Gellert Grindelwald.
FYI - November 2010 and July 2011 are the release dates for the final two films, though both are being filmed currently.
There are connections between the two and also a lot of debate... "pick one, which is better"
I have to say that both movies/books are great.... but the connections are interesting...
Some connections others have noticed:
The buzz words tag on Twilight specifically and the Bella Swan novels in general as “the new Harry Potter” is justifiable beyond the popularity it enjoys with young readers; it’s in many ways the same story.
Like Harry Potter, Twilight’s themes resonate with postmodern core beliefs while illuminating a few of its blind-spots. Certainly we have the celebration of the misunderstood “other,” the tribe(s) alienated by the predominant metanarrative, as the secret keepers holding the answers longed for by those despising them as evil and inhuman. And there’s quite the conflation of sexuality and spirituality, a real signature of our times...
...both Harry Potter and Twilight are “cross-genre bildungsroman novels laden with postmodern themes and religious meaning.”
Who would win in a fight? Harry or Edward?
I saw, who cares.... the more important question is who would you bang ;) *ahem* yea...ha
When it comes to sizzling hot (or marble pale smooth cold....) It's clear that Edward would be the man to bring home... forever.... however, I love both stories very much and find that both series have gotten kids (and moms) reading again.... both contain great magical, mystery and I'd never "choose" one over the other. The fact that the Twilight Series is being filmed locally makes me a tad biased and more involved in the whole thing... but if HP was filmed here I'd be equally thrilled!!!
And the cast from Harry Potter supports Robert:
According to the Digital Spy, both Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) and Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy) who were once castmates of Robert Pattinson in the Goblet of Fire movie voiced their support of Rob’s career.
Daniel Radcliffe stated, “I won’t pretend we’re best mates or knew each other really well but we really enjoyed working with each other, or at least I enjoyed working with him! He’s doing brilliantly, which is fantastic.”
Tom Felton said, “It’s just great to see someone who has been in Harry Potter have a life after it, and a much bigger one! So I wish him all the success and I will see Twilight soon, I promise!”
Can I just add - for the record... um - wow! (Used to be a HUGE Draco/Tom fan... still some photos make me go yum... don't judge me!!! *hides*)
