Hunger Games Cast - Uncensored

Suicide in The Hunger Games?

I saw this on Mockingjay.net and found it interesting... Some were questioning how the very clever foxface could be so careless as to die by poisioned berries.

In the movie they show her during training doing a computer activity with plants, which leads to the assumption that she knows her stuff. Then again, maybe it was just a speed/matching game with no insight on plants needed? Her district specializes in energy not agriculture. In the book she also uses the berries to make a meal with goat's milk or cheese, but maybe....???

Also, She tells Ceasar in her interview that, “I will always analyze the situation and apply myself.” So now the discussion has started that perhaps she really is THAT clever and used nightlock berries as an easy escape from an inevitable death?

Suzanne Collins wrote the book and screenplay, maybe she wanted to send the message out there? I wonder if we can ask her? If anyone has the opportunity - please do...

For now... here is further discussion from MockingJay.Net: More...

I was browsing Tumblr and fans are now all in a flurry about something – they believe that Foxface didn’t just accidentally eat the berries, she ate them to commit suicide. I thought this was a very interesting observation! I don’t take any credit for figuring this out but I thought it would make a good discussion. There are a few reasons why this seems to be the case, especially now that we’ve seen the film which has a few moments that could be subtle clues. Maybe even clues from Suzanne Collins, since she was a screenwriter and producer on the film! First of all, in the film we see Foxface speeding through some sort of computer training program involving plants. In her interview, we hear her say to Caesar: “I will always analyze the situation and apply myself.” We hear Peeta and Katniss say time and time again, “she’s clever, too clever.” Why would someone that clever die in such a way, a careless accident? What if Foxface realized where she was at that point – she was up against Cato, Thresh, and the team from 12. She wasn’t good with hand-to-hand combat, she relied on stealth and getting in and out of situations quickly. What if she realized that the chances were if up against any of her competitors, she’d die a terrible, painful death. Then, she sees the nightlock sitting perfectly in front of her as she followed Peeta, and thinks: “This is my painless way out. Why suffer more than I need to?” Maybe Foxface was more clever than we all believed. The other side of the argument is that the plant program in the training center was just a matching game. Not evidence of her knowing anything about plants. Then, in the book (not included in the film), she took a bit of goat cheese as if she was going to make a small meal out of the berries and cheese – not really evidence of suicide. However, what if Foxface wanted her death to look like an accident? Then, Foxface is from a district that specializes in power and electricity, not really a place where you’d learn about plants. We will never know, I suppose. Also, I figure now is a great time to commend Jaqueline Emerson on her performance – didn’t she do an amazing job? All without saying much of anything at all! The scene where she slams into Katniss in the beginning? Fantastic. Their faces just said: “I’m scared.” “Me too.” They didn’t want to kill each-other, as Jennifer Lawrence said, it’s pointless, unjustified violence. Now, sound off in the comments – did Foxface commit sucicide?
