Goulding will also contribute vocals for the film’s score composed by Grammy® nominated and multi-platinum electronic artist Junkie XL and executive produced by Grammy® and Oscar®-winning composer Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Inception).

“We started working on the film with songs from Ellie Goulding's album Halcyon and soon found that the texture of her music and the tone of her voice matched perfectly with our film,” said director, Neil Burger. “In many ways Ellie has become the inner voice of our heroine Tris.”

In addition to “Beating Heart,” the soundtrack album will feature new music by multi-platinum, Grammy® nominated artist Zedd (the track “Find You,” featuring Matthew Koma and Miriam Bryant) and more artists to be announced soon.

North American fans can pre-order Divergent: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack exclusively at www.divergentsoundtrack.com starting Friday, January 24th. The story is set within a future world where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities, and Tris Prior, played by Shailene Woodley, is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group.  When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.

Divergent is directed by Neil Burger from a screenplay by Evan Daugherty and Vanessa Taylor, based on the novel by Veronica Roth.  The film stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ashley Judd, Jai Cortney, Ray Stevenson, Zoё Kravitz, Miles Teller, Tony Goldwyn, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, and Kate Winslet.

Hunger Games Theme Parks may be coming....

This would be epic-amazing! I absolutely LOVE Harry Potter World, and can only imagine how amazing it would be to visit a "Hunger Games" theme park... compete in the arena? Ride the train into the capitol? visit the different districts? go though training? hmmmm.... Sounds like lot's of possibilities!

Variety reports:

Lionsgate is exploring getting into the theme-park business, taking advantage of its blockbuster “Hunger Games” franchise.
CEO Jon Feltheimer made the disclosure Friday during a conference call with analysts following release of the studio’s quarterly earnings report.
Feltheimer said Lionsgate had been approached about “Hunger Games” theme parks in two territories and was considering those possibilities. He gave no further details.
The CEO’s disclosure came in response to an analyst question about which areas of “Hunger Games” merchandising had performed well. Motion Picture Group Co-Chairman Rob Friedman had said that Lionsgate was “very excited” by sales of the “Capitol Couture” line of attire.

Divergent Character Poster: Miles Teller as Peter

Fandango released the last character poster for this week's 'poster a day' campaign from Summit/Lionsgate.

Check out Miles Teller as Peter Hayes, the central antagonist in the film and one of Tris' mortal enemies!

Who was your fave this week? Christina was the one I was most looking forward too and not going to lie - pretty bad ass! She was my most favourite to meet at Comic-Con of the 5 this week.

Lionsgate issues statement regarding Ender's Game and author Orson Scott Card's opinions on gay marriage

Lionsgate issued a statement regarding the controversy leading up to the new movie Ender's Game. The novel author, Orson Scott Card, is openly against homosexuality and has spoken out against gay marriage. There have been boycots of the movie planned due to this and so the production company issued this statement:

As proud longtime supporters of the LGBT community, champions of films ranging from Gods and Monsters to The Perks of Being a Wallflower and a company that is proud to have recognized same-sex unions and domestic partnerships within its employee benefits policies for many years, we obviously do not agree with the personal views of Orson Scott Card and those of the National Organization for Marriage. However, they are completely irrelevant to a discussion of Ender’s Game. The simple fact is that neither the underlying book nor the film itself reflect these views in any way, shape or form. On the contrary, the film not only transports viewers to an entertaining and action-filled world, but it does so with positive and inspiring characters who ultimately deliver an ennobling and life-affirming message. Lionsgate will continue its longstanding commitment to the LGBT community by exploring new ways we can support LGBT causes and, as part of this ongoing process, will host a benefit premiere for Ender’s Game.

What do you think? I was NOT aware of this controversy until recently, and I have to admit, it DOES change my opinion. I don't want someone so hateful to make money off me. But I do really want to see the movie adaptation of a book I read years ago.

Thoughts?

The studio acquired the film rights to the novel in early 2011 several months before the book was published.

Hunger Games: Catching Fire Casting News...

Lot's of rumours about who will play who in the upcoming Catching Fire which is set to start filming "soon" (I believe middle July - not sure)

EW reports:

Alice will not be entering the arena.

Contrary to a report last week, Mia Wasikowska is not vying for the role of headstrong tribute Johanna Mason in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. According to the Alice in Wonderland star’s reps, Wasikowska has neither been approached for the role, nor would be able to play it given other film commitments she has for 2012.

Model/actress Zoe Aggeliki was also mentioned as a potential candidate for the role, but Lionsgate has not yet responded to a request for confirmation.

Also at last night's Magic Mike premiere, former WWF/WWe wrestler Kevin Nash (remember his as Diesel in wrestling? I sure do!) said he may be cast in Catching Fire as well..... “I just pray it’s recurring, that he doesn’t get killed,”

Meanwhile Lil' Romeo aka Romeo Miller has allegedly met with casting directors for consideration for a role in Cathing Fire. Which character? We don't know... Watch this interview with MTV...

Here’s the transcript from MTV:

But for his next roles, Miller has his sights set on an acting career similar to Will Smith. “I want to be the next big action hero or I want to do a lot of romantic type movies, romantic comedies, a little bit of everything, but definitely the next action hero,” Miller said, and then added, “You can see me in ‘The Hunger Games’ or something like that. Just throwing that out there.”

Though he admitted to not being very familiar with Suzanne Collins’ books, Miller confirmed that there has been some discussion about possibly joining “Catching Fire,” which is currently casting.

“I actually just met with Lionsgate about that, so you may be seeing me in one of the ‘Hunger Games.’ That’s all I’m saying,” Miller said. “Not a particular role, we just had a meeting, seeing if it was something I was interested in. I can’t really talk too much, or they’ll kill you. You know how ‘The Hunger Games’ is.”

So many rumours, can't wait for some official announcements!

No Twilight Remakes in the works.... yet

When rumours arose this week that remakes of Twilight were in the works, I didn't post about it, because it wasn't confirmed. Today, it was confirmed... as being FALSE!

Deadline reports:

Summit Entertainment just phoned me to publicly deny an Internet report that its parent company Lionsgate already is drawing up plans to remake the Twilight Saga by the 5th anniversary of the insanely successful movie and book series which began November 21, 2008. Summit Co-Chairman and now Lionsgate domestic movie czar Rob Friedman tells me: ”We are not remaking Twilight. We will happily support Stephanie Meyer if she decides to proceed in any way. But this will be the last one unless that should change.” What this statement means is simply that the studio will do whatever Twilight Saga author Stephenie Meyer wants. She has said in some interviews that she wouldn’t mind seeing a reboot — so an evantual remake isn’t out of the realm of possibility. But as of now none is on the drawing board. Summit has released four Twilight adaptations, with the fifth and final for now film Breaking Dawn Part 2 arriving in theaters on November 16th.

So it seems it *could* happen in the future, but not right now, which is ok by me... Bring on Breaking Dawn Part 2.

Will Gary Ross direct Catching Fire?

‘The Hollywood Reporter’ reports that Gary Ross is currently in fierce negotiations with Lionsgate, as he is not yet officially signed on to direct ‘Catching Fire’. Now that The Hunger Games is a hit with more than $363 million in the till, the question is whether writer-director Gary Ross will return for the next installment in the lucrative Lionsgate franchise. Unlike stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, Ross is not signed for a sequel. And negotiations for him to do the first movie were “a terrible experience,” says a source with knowledge of the discussions, because Ross is a seasoned filmmaker (Pleasantville, Seabiscuit) and Lionsgate isn’t accustomed to paying seasoned-filmmaker fees. He ended up taking a relatively low $3 million to write (with Billy Ray and novelist Suzanne Collins) and direct. But he will collect a very remunerative 5 percent of backend.

Sources say Ross, 55, would like a significant raise for a second Hunger Games, but Lionsgate didn’t kick off negotiations with him until about three weeks before the first film’s March 23 opening. By then, with tracking suggesting a huge opening weekend, Ross and his CAA reps were in no hurry to bargain.

Do you think Gary and Lionsgate reach an agreement or will someone new be directing ‘Catching Fire’?

Gicen "Twilight" director change-up each movie, I can see Hunger Games doing the same... but Gary Ross did a great job and I would love to see him carry on the franchise.

Predictions for Breaking Dawn 2 Camping

I registered on facebook for "The Hob" which is The Hunger Games premiere.

It stated that 400 registered fans would be able to line up for wristabdsn Sunday March 11th 6am and camp out in "The Hob" for the night in order to attend the red carpet premiere March 12 and then see the world premiere with the cast.

I registered before it closed, but I don't know if it closed after 400 or 4000 people registered. I also don't know if that means I will get in or not. I also have no idea if from those applications they will take the first 400 or a random 400 people.

It is SEM running the show, so I anticipate a familiar face... from BD1... which scares the shit out of me because he is such an angry mean man.

But, regardless of what happens, I am thinking this is a "trial" of sorts for BD2 premiere.

After BD1 fiasco, I had spoken to 2 Summit reps and 2 of the event planners and it seemed like a "lotto" online may be the way they would go for the final premiere.

Looking at this Hunger Games "online registration" I think it is a smaller scale (400 people) trial run for how Summit may do BD2.

Makes sense since Lionsgate and Summit are becoming one - and because the idea of an online signup had been discussed during BD1 conversations.

Just my guess, but I would be ok with it - provided we knew in advance when the online reg opened. I didn't know when the Hunger Games one would, so I registered way late because it didnt' show me the registration on my cell phone version of the page when I was at work.

Hopefully I get in for Hunger Games and hopefully this method "works" and they can do something similar for BD2.

My concern is this:

1. Do i skip the mall event in Seattle Sat March 10 so I can be there for the wristbands March 11 (may or may not get wristband)

2. Go to the mall event where I feel I have a high chance of meeting jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, then arrive in LA Sunday later in the day and risk not getting a wristband that I may or may ot get anyways.

There isn't a flight late enough Sat or early enough Sunday to allow me to do both - grrrr....

Lionsgate to purchase Summitt...soon!

According to Bloomberg , Lionsgate ,the studio producing “The Hunger Games”  is close to a deal to purchase Summit Entertainment, the “Twilight Saga,” studio, for $700 million...

Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. (LGF) is near an agreement to buy “Twilight” producer Summit Entertainment LLC for about $700 million including assumed debt, according to people with knowledge of the situation.
An accord may be announced as soon as next week, said two people, who sought anonymity because negotiations aren’t complete. The talks may not end with an agreement, they said.
Lions Gate, the studio behind “Saw” and the Tyler Perry comedies, will pay more than $400 million for Summit’s equity and assume less than $300 million in debt, one of the people said. Summit, based in Santa Monica, California has been negotiating exclusively with Lions Gate for the past week, the people said. The studio also held talks with Tom Barrack’s Colony Capital LLC, which owns the the Miramax film library.
A deal would gives Lions Gate, maker of the “Saw” horror films and the “Mad Men” TV show, the final installment in the “Twilight” vampire movies and library rights to the first four films, which generated $2.45 billion in global ticket sales. Lions Gate would also add Summit’s Oscar-winning war drama “The Hurt Locker” to its library of 13,000 films and TV shows.
Lions Gate and Summit last month resumed talks that broke down in the past over price and control issues.
The combined company will be run by Lions Gate Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jon Feltheimer and Vice Chairman Michael Burns, with Summit CEO Rob Friedman running the film unit, one of the people said. Patrick Wachsberger, Summit’s co-chairman with Friedman, would take over international distribution.
“Twilight” fits Lions Gate’s goal of breaking into the lucrative young-adult market. The studio will release the first of four planned films based on Suzanne Collins’s “The Hunger Games” trilogy in March. Lions Gate also owns rights to the “Chaos Walking” young-adult books by Patrick Ness.
The acquisition would produces a pay day for the owners of closely held Summit, who formed the studio in 2007 with funding from Merrill Lynch & Co. Last year, the company raised $750 million to finance movie making and pay a dividend to owners including Rizvi Traverse Management LLC. Friedman and Wachsberger also own part of Summit.
Lions Gate, run from Santa Monica, California, fell 0.5 percent to $8.41 yesterday in New York. The company has about $550 million in short- and long-term debt, according to data (LGF)compiled by Bloomberg.
Closely held Summit raised $550 million in March with a 5.5-year loan to finance a dividend and film production.
Some of Summit’s cash will be used to pay down its debt and some cash will move with the company to Lions Gate, according to the website Deadline Hollywood, which reported the terms earlier.

Will Summit & Lionsgate Merge?

Bloomberg is reporting that two movie studios well known to our readers – Summit Entertainment and Lionsgate – are in talks to merge. More... Though it wouldn’t cause much that typical moviegoers would notice, it’d certainly be beneficial for Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games franchise given Summit has experience from turning Twilight into a major financial success. From the report: The companies have resumed discussions that broke down in the past over price and control issues, said the people, who declined to speak publicly because talks are private and there’s no assurance a deal will be reached. Lions Gate would gain access to the cash generated by the five “Twilight” movies. The first four films have grossed more than $1 billion in worldwide ticket sales, according to Box Office Mojo. A sale would be a payday for owners of closely held Summit who formed the studio in 2007 with funding from Merrill Lynch & Co. Summit, based in Santa Monica, California, is scheduled to release the fifth “Twilight” movie in a year. Lions Gate has about $550 million in short- and long-term debt, according to Bloomberg data, and has struggled to remain profitable. Melissa Zukerman, a spokeswoman for Summit, declined to comment. Peter Wilkes, a Lions Gate spokesman, didn’t immediately respond to phone and e-mail requests for comment. Lions Gate, also run from Santa Monica, California, produces cable TV’s “Mad Men” series and in March will release “The Hunger Games,” a film based on a young-adult book trilogy that has been compared to the “Twilight” novels. “The Hunger Games” and three potential sequels may generate $220 million to $733 million in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization over the next several years, according to James Marsh, an analyst at Piper Jaffray & Co. in New York. We’ll keep you updated on future developments. It’s completely possible that the talks could fall through if either side has any major issues with the deal. Reports have indicated in the past that the merge would be a good idea considering both studios are each considered a “mini-major”. [VIA Hypable
