No #DoctorWho panel at #SDCC - filming continues

Good news, Whovians (or for those who don’t like fun, Doctor Who fans); you can sleep in on Sunday morning of San Diego Comic-Con this year. Bad news? It’s because there will be no Doctor Who panel at the 2014 bash of the queue-waiters, in Hall H or otherwise.
A source at BBC America has confirmed to me that there will not be a panel for our favorite time travel adventure program after it was noticed that the blurb forlate-summer’s world tour would see the American debut of Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman, which would be about a month after Comic-Con. Why? Because the show will still be shooting! The season is scheduled to wrap in early August, just in time for the 7 city, 5 continent, 12 day world tour extravaganza. The tour launches in the UK on August 7 and finishes in Brazil on August 19. On August 14th, New York City will be home to one of the stops, so NYC people, get ready for that.
The official word is this:
Doctor Who’s cast and creators will not be in attendance at Comic-Con International: San Diego 2014. They are currently in production until August on the upcoming season – 12 all new back-to-back episodes. Given the unprecedented success of the global event around the 50th Anniversary, BBC AMERICA and BBC Worldwide will launch the first-ever Doctor Who world tour in August to celebrate the new chapter of the series starring Peter Capaldi.

Back to Fan Girling!

I have been caught up with some real life but Comic-Con is coming and it is summer, so it is time to focus back on blogging and fangirling.

Gotham, The Flash, and more at #SDCC

Comic-Con will world premiere 'Gothan' later this month...

Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are partnering for their first-ever power block of panels at the fan mega-conference. The cluster includes Fox’s Gotham, NBC’s new fall drama Constantine and The CW’s Arrow and its upcoming spin-off The Flash. The panels include:
– Gotham premiere: A screening of the pilot episode, followed by an appearance by the cast and producers.
– The Flash pilot screeningThe Flash pilot that shows how the fastest man on Earth (Grant Gustin) got his powers, then the “cast and producers will stop running long enough to take the stage.”
Constantine footage: John Constantine (Matt Ryan) makes his TV debut with footage from the upcoming series, then a visit from the cast and creative team.
– Arrow season 3 previewArrow returns to Comic-Con with teaser footage from the upcoming season followed by cast and producers taking fan questions.
All the panels will be on Saturday, July 26. The rest of WBTV’s Comic-Con panels, and exact times of the above panels, will be announced at a later date
UPDATED:

[PREVIOUS] Although the movie studios at San Diego Comic-Con are known for having blocks of time in which they trot out all of their upcoming programming, the television studios have typically had their programing more spread out — two panels for the same network might premiere back-to-back, but with the exception of Preview Night, TV networks don’t typically take over hours of the same panel block.
That’s all changing this year, with the first ever Warner Bros/DC “Saturday Night” event at Comic-Con.
WB announced in a press release today that on Saturday, July 26, the studio will be bringing four of its upcoming DC programs to Comic-Con for screenings and cast appearances, from series Gotham, The FlashConstantine, and Arrow.
Attendees will be treated to the world premiere of Gotham, which stars Ben McKenzie (The O.C.Southland) as Detective Jim Gordon, and follows Gordon and other popular Batman characters (including Bruce Wayne, The Penguin, Catwoman, and The Riddler) through their journey to becoming the DC characters we know today.
The Flash pilot will also be screened in its entirety, and Constantine fans will be treated to “exclusive footage”. WB and DC haven’t forgotten about their current hit series, Arrow, as the CW series will also be present with “never before seen teaser footage from the upcoming third season”.  For each of the panels, it also mentions that cast and crew will be making an appearance on stage as well.
There’s no word yet on panel times yet.

#ONCE returns to #SDCC #OUAT

ouatscaled

Always one of my fave panels, OUAT is scheduled to return.

Of course, Espenson also writes and produces on the popular ABC series Once Upon A Time, along with executive producers Edward “Eddy” Kitsis and Adam Horowitz. So putting two and two together, we reached out to network representatives for the show and received confirmation that there will indeed be a panel for OUAT at SDCC next month.
What we couldn’t confirm is when the panel will be, or who will appear on the panel. Based on Espenson’s tweet, we can speculate that herself, Kitsis and Horowitz will all be on the panel, and we can expect that the audience will be treated to some “content”, whether that is a sizzle reel for the upcoming season or an extended first look at a new scene.
Generally the OUAT panels are pretty packed with the show’s cast, so we would expect to see Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Josh Dallas, and Lana Parrilla, and hopefully Emilie de Ravin (Belle) and Colin O’Donoghue (Hook) among others. And what about a big unveil of Frozen duo Elsa and Anna, who are as of yet uncast and slated for season four? As IGN TV’s Eric Goldman speculated on our podcast earlier this month, that would blow the roof off of Ballroom 20. Or wherever the panel is held.

#TEENWOLF at #SDCC

Teen Wolf

MTV will be bringing returning series stars Tyler Posey, Dylan O’Brien, Tyler Hoechlin, Holland Roden, as well as new cast members Shelley Hennig and Dylan Sprayberry, and Executive Producer Jeff Davis, for a panel on Thursday, July 24. MTV promises that attendees will be treated to “a can’t-miss panel in which they will share season four secrets, debut a new mid-season trailer and answer fan questions”. Although no room for the panel was listed, last year, Teen Wolf took over Ballroom 20 for the first time to a packed house, and we’d be surprised if it moved rooms again for 2014.

The Teen Wolf cast will also hold a signing at the Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment Booth (#4213).

For fans who can’t get enough of Teen Wolf, there’s also an unofficial fan meetup on Friday, July 25: 7:45-10PM at the Panda Inn Horton Plaza. $35

Movies of #SDCC

Movies of SDCC:

We all know San Diego Comic-Con is more than just comics. Yet despite all the great panels and events that happen throughout the convention, nothing gets quite the attention than a big Hollywood reveal on the stage of the Convention Center’s Hall H. Tom Hiddleston as Loki? Warner Bros. taking the wraps off of Godzilla for the first time? The Avengers presented on stage with Joss Whedon? Those moments and more might not be your personal favorites, but they’re the moments everyone remembers and talks about for years.
