Internet vs. Reality...

This post came up in my facebook feed randomly...

Such a great read...

I can think of a few people who's blog and life I stopped looking at because I was sick of the "fakeness" I can imagine some people think I have (or had) a glamourous life meeting celebrities (people have said they envy me) but the reality is, my life is not just celebrity meeting, it is an empty bank account because of trying to do more than I can, it's a messy house and a rollercoaster of ups and downs.

I have a friend who posts all her awesome experiences and I know personally that isn't her life... but it is her portrayal of life and for the strangers on the internet, I am sure it is great.

Anyhow, internet allows us to share a part of us and like a first date, you often only show the good side, the best side, a part of you and this can create a world that isn't intouch with reality...

Read this article

I keep having the same conversation over and over. It starts like this: “I gave up Facebook for Lent, and I realized I’m a lot happier without it.” Or like this, “Pinterest makes me hate my house.” Or like this: “I stopped following a friend on Instagram, and now that I don’t see nonstop snapshots of her perfect life, I like her better.”

Yikes. This is a thing. This is coming up in conversation after conversation. The danger of the internet is that it’s very very easy to tell partial truths—to show the fabulous meal but not the mess to clean up afterward. To display the smiling couple-shot, but not the fight you had three days ago. To offer up the sparkly milestones but not the spiraling meltdowns.

My life looks better on the Internet than it does in real life. Everyone’s life looks better on the internet than it does in real life. The Internet is partial truths—we get to decide what people see and what they don’t. That’s why it’s safer short term. And that’s why it’s much, much more dangerous long term.

Because community—the rich kind, the transforming kind, the valuable and difficult kind—doesn’t happen in partial truths and well-edited photo collections on Instagram. Community happens when we hear each other’s actual voices, when we enter one another’s actual homes, with actual messes, around actual tables telling stories that ramble on beyond 140 pithy characters.

But seeing the best possible, often-unrealistic, half-truth version of other peoples’ lives isn’t the only danger of the Internet. Our envy buttons also get pushed because we rarely check Facebook when we’re having our own peak experiences. We check it when we’re bored and when we’re lonely, and it intensifies that boredom and loneliness.

When you’re laughing at a meal with friends, are you scrolling through Pinterest? When you’re in labor with your much-prayed-for-deeply-loved child, are you checking to see what’s happening on Instagram? Of course not. We check in with our phones when it seems like nothing fun is happening in our own lives—when we’re getting our oil changed or waiting for the coffee to brew.

It makes sense, then, that anyone else’s fun or beauty or sparkle gets under our skin. It magnifies our own dissatisfaction with that moment. When you’re waiting for your coffee to brew, the majority of your friends probably aren’t doing anything any more special.

Hunger Games Filming Update

As scheduled Hunger Games filmed this week in Hildebran and starting tomorrow will be in Shelby NC.

There are hundreds of extras coming in very early for extensive hair, make-up and wardrobe. They will be filming the Reaping Scene starting tomorrow and possibly over the next couple days.

How Exciting!

As most of you know the production is under the name "Artemis" and, much like New Moon (USM) and Eclipse (TSE) will likely have signs for cast and crew labelled with this name.

Artemis Casting Facebook Page posted yesterday:
You can count on some VERY early am call times on Thursday 26th,Friday 27th, Tuesday 31st and Wednesday 1st. We may have some as early as 4:30 am. I would count on most of them being between 5 -6 am. Everyone has to go thru wardrobe, hair and make up. These are some of our most important and biggest scenes in the film.

If anyone is an extra or lives locally let us know how it goes!

Viral Marketing win for Twilight Saga

In this day of online marketing, twitter, social networking, viral marketing and more... this informationis interesting to explore.

Twilight Lexicon writes:

Every week, the Ad Age Viral Video Chart presents the top 10 most-viewed brand-driven videos on the web with one major caveat: There are no movie or video-game trailers included in the findings. Why? Well, it’s not really a fair fight. Put it this way: Old Spice guy Isaiah Mustafa — even with all his talent and outstanding physique — would barely have a chance.

Movie and video-game trailers are very different in the way they’re shared on the web. For one, both game and movie trailers are snippets of the franchises themselves, such as “Harry Potter” and “Call of Duty,” familiar content that’s more readily shared, so it’s inherently easier for those kind of ads to rise to the top. Plus, movie and gaming marketers out-spend brand marketers exponentially in the weeks and days leading up to their releases, so the number of paid impressions far outweighs any organic view of a viral commercial.

So what would the viral chart look like if we included movies and video games? We asked Visible Measures to help us find out, by including the entertainment category in the numbers, and the results were a bit staggering. Without movies or video games, Visible Measures’ top 10 Viral Video Ads would have only amassed a combined view count of 320 million views for the year. But with them, the total view count tops more than 1.1 billion views. The only “social ad” to make the top 10 was Old Spice’s “Responses” campaign — and that’s just barely there, at No. 10. The rest of the chart is dominated by seven movies and two video games, led by the trailer for “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.”

So when it comes to viral ads, even Isaiah Mustafa is no match for Edward Cullen — “Eclipse” scored more than triple the views of Old Spice’s aggregate campaign in July, 220.19 million vs. 68.74 million, respectively.

While trailers for some of the year’s biggest blockbusters should come as no surprise (“Toy Story 3,” “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1,” “Alice in Wonderland” and “Iron Man 2″ all round out the top 10), there are a few unexpected appearances. No. 2, for example, is Sony’s “The Karate Kid,” a breakout box office hit this summer (more than $176 million in grosses) but hardly a $300 million-plus franchise tentpole, either. Perhaps most astonishing is the No. 3 appearance of Disney’s “Step Up 3D,” which has racked up more than 138 million trailer views yet managed only $42 million in ticket receipts — proof that YouTube views don’t always translate to sales.

Elsewhere, Treyarch’s “Call of Duty: Black Ops” leads the video-game category at No. 5 with more than 110 million views, while Bungie’s “Halo: Reach” trails closely behind at No. 8 with 74.4 million views. Although gaming trailers generate lots of views in the pre-release stages, the real traffic comes from the days and weeks after their initial release, when user-generated game-play and how-to videos are uploaded and shared like wildfire among gamers. Visible Measures includes these aggregate clips in each title’s total view counts.

Although there’s still three weeks left in the year, expect few changes to the chart before 2010 comes to a close. Both movie and video-game trailers receive the highest volume of views in the week leading up to the title’s release, so the figures are fairly front-loaded. However, there’s still time for one major holiday release (“Tron: Legacy,” perhaps?) to sneak in. But perhaps the real question is which brands will crack next year’s top 10, and who will be the Isaiah Mustafa of 2011? You’ve got 12 months and at least 68 million views to prove yourselves, marketers.

The Palin's

The Palin's piss people off apparently. One guy shot his tv which led to a 15 hou stand off because he was mad Bristol Palin was so successful on DWTS. Meanwhile Bristol and her sister Willow had a facebook war with people who were "dissing" their mom's new show.

Reality World writes:

"Sarah Palin's Alaska, is failing so hard right now," Tre wrote on Facebook.

While mild, the "negative comment" quickly initiated a fierce response from the Palin sisters.

"You just run your mouth just so you can get a reaction. You're a typical s--t talker -- talking s--t because you have nothing else going for you," Bristol wrote.

Willow then fired back at Tre with even more frustration.

"Haha you're so gay. I have no idea who you are. But what I've seen pictures of, you're disgusting... my sister had a kid and is still hot," Willow boasted.

"Tre, [shut the f--k up]. You're such a f--got... quit talking s--t about my family."

Additional Facebook users and possible classmates of the Palin sisters later joined the argument expressing their opinions, but Bristol and Willow refused to back down.

"Sorry that you guys are all jealous of my families' success and you guys aren't going to go anywhere with your lives," Willow wrote.

Seems the Palin's have numerous issues, and to think Sarah Palin wants to be President? wow!

My Baton Rouge Visit

I saw this today - - -

It is so interesting that these cast mates are being spotted in the very same place I was wandering last week... ;) heh heh

As soon as I saw the shots of Ashley Greene and Joe Jonas out and about then Kellan as well and finally the "Holy Trinity" Rob, Kristen and Taylor at the studio... I felt that excitement of filming.

Even though I am not in Baton Rouge (or rather, they are not here filming) I am still excited to bring as much news as I can throughout filming via my very awesome friends who live in Baton Rouge.

I've recieved a few emails from them already but obviously I don't feel it is my place to blog all the nitty gritty (but I promise to give you as much as I am confortable with... those of you who followed me during NM and E here in Vancouver know I try to be respectful of the actors and not give away their location until they have left, or a set address until they have wrapped. There is a reason for this, I have met crazy-scary fans who were out to cause problems and it is not my place to give them the location to do so!!!)

That being said - here is the latest and greatest "inside scoop" (if you want to call it that) on filming in Baton Rouge...

MY EXPERIENCE IN BATON ROUGE - - -

While I was there we did NOT see any cast, but for me it was really exciting to be in the area we knew they would be spending time in.

A friend of mine had the low-down on where the cast was booked to stay and we wandered through the area and it's a really nice community.

Baton Rouge has a really nice small town feel that I think may allow cast to feel more comfy to be out and about. I know that where Rob and Kristen and Taylor are staying (different from the rest of the cast) is NOT accessible. Nor are they going to be there for long... once they move, I have a feeling those three will be spotted far less than people hope - time will tell.

A friend I know talked to her friend who works at the location Rob is staying (apparently he was there when we were!!) but security is very tight on his whole floor and even staff do not come past the elevator. (ie - room service was brought to Rob's people at the elevator who brought it to his room)

Rumours are that Rob & Kristen are sharing a "love nest" and while I have NO IDEA my friend says (since no staff had access to that floor to confirm who is rooming with who) they are/were at least on the same floor - - think waht you may with that info ;) ha ha "Love nest" seems plausible non?

Apparently Rob (& Kristen?) will be moving from that spot to a private residence shortly (if not already - perhaps that is the LOVE NEST? ha ha) Reminds me of Vancouver when much of the cast moved to the private condo's more privacy, space, and security!

Speaking of security, when I went to the studio I chatted with the head security at length (about local food, various productions including Breaking Dawn, Battleship with Alexander Skarsgård, and Faith Ford's voice over work... she actually drove by and said hi as we were chatting)

They informed me that in addition to their full security staff the production company was bringing in excessive security of their own for the "twilight movie" He also said they were erecting 8 foot black privacy screens around the perimeter.

He also said we were the "first ones" to come asking about Twilight - ha ha - I assured him we were NOT the last ;)

I was so glad to be able to pop by the studio while in Louisiana. Though I spent most of my time in NOLA, we spent a day in BR to meet friends and also to go through Hammond/Ponchatoula to visit my ex's gravestone :(

Overall the trip was fun with my girlies and informative. Now, when my friend emails me details about filming or cast sightings I have been there and can understand the area better - - my trip was "research" ha ha that's it LOL

Here are a few photos - but as I mentioned before ALL my pics are up on my facebook search MANDY S MIND and add me :)

Battleship preproduction:

Nice community with shopping and outdoor entertainment...

David Slade thanks fans

"When you put your heart and soul into something as intense as the duration of a film production, you become completely lost in it. You
focus on doing your very best to get it right each day and you work on
this for so long that you assume an ownership of it.

When shooting The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, I always felt an awareness of
how many people this film would reach and as a result, knew that this
film did not just belong to myself, the producers and the studio, but
more so, to all of you, the fans of The Twilight Saga.

At the end of the day, after all the hard work is done, all that's left
is the film itself, and your overwhelmingly positive and supportive
responses have made me feel like we must have done something right. As a
filmmaker, this is a rare and strange feeling of connection with an
audience of which I will never forget and I thank you all for it."

A Note from Breaking Dawn director Bill Condon

A Note from Bill Condon was posted on facebook.

Greetings Twihards, Twifans, Twilight Moms, Team Edward, Team Jacob and Team Switzerland,

I just want to say hello to all of you and let you know that I'm stoked to be getting underway on the adventure of making BREAKING DAWN. As you've probably heard, I've been given a very warm welcome by Stephenie and Team Summit - who are super-focused, as you know, on getting these movies right.

I'm pretty busy bringing myself up to speed on what you already know by heart: I've read BREAKING DAWN twice, rewatched Catherine's and Chris's movies 2-3 times each, have all four CDs playing in my car, and have Catherine's notebook, Mark Cotta Vaz's companion books, and even Volume 1 of the graphic novel here on my desk - a corner of my office is starting to look like Hot Topic. I realize that this barely qualifies me for "newborn" status in the universe you've been living inside for a few years now, but a guy's gotta start somewhere.

Like many of you, I've always been slightly obsessed with vampires, dating back to the prime-time series DARK SHADOWS, which I followed avidly as a kid. But that alone hadn't been enough to get me interested in making a vampire movie, even though my early screenwriting and directing efforts grew out of a great love for horror movies and thrillers. Since making GODS AND MONSTERS thirteen years ago, however, I've been yearning for a return to a story with Gothic overtones.

The wonderful world that Stephenie has created has obviously struck a chord with you, and I don't think it's difficult to see why. For me, her characters are simultaneously timeless, yet very modern. Rooted in a beautiful, real landscape with a great sense of place, Bella, Edward, Jacob, and the rest of the Forks/La Push menagerie, experience emotions that are primal, and universal: desire, despair, jealousy - and it all comes to fruition in BREAKING DAWN. This is a final chapter in the best sense; not just wide in scope and scale, but emotionally charged and intense throughout.

I'm a huge admirer of the already-iconic Kristen, Robert, and Taylor, and wanted to be the one to work with them as they face the challenges of bringing your beloved characters to the end of their journeys. Really, what could be more fun than that?

Please feel free to ask questions in the comments section below, and I'll do my best to answer them. I hope that this will be the first of many occasions I'll get to check in with you as we set to work bringing BREAKING DAWN to the screen. I am excited and grateful to have all of you alongside me for my TWILIGHT journey.

All best,

Bill Condon

P.S. Answer #1: No, there won't be any musical numbers

Love it.... Fantastic he is reaching out to fans already! Ask him questions here though he had over 500 in first 15 minutes!!!

Melissa Rosenberg comments on facebook about Breaking Dawn Script

Melissa Rosenberg wrote on her facebook wall ab about Breaking Dawn film rating possibilities. What do you think?

I want a bit of blood, child birth, you know, as long as the intent of action is shown and not skipped it will be ok, I don't expect a full on close up of Bella's tummy being torn open but you know... the jist. It will be as much the director as the script i think.
