Fan Story - Water For Elephants Premiere in Berlin

My friend Barabara sent me this a few weeks ago, and I have been so busy I forgot to post it. My apologies, as it is a great story and some great photos from the Water for Elephants Premiere in Berlin.

I went with a friend of mine to Berlin the day before the premiere of „Water for Elephants“. We headed straight to the Sony Center and saw that the preparations had already begun. The sponsor wall was there and the red carpet but no fences. We had a pizza there and watched for a while. The first fans prepared for the night to stay there. We drove home to the familiy of my friend. They were so kind to invite us at their place. Thanks!

Next morning we arrived at half past nine at the Sony Center. There was a little crowd at two places, let’s say north of the carpet (I don’t know whether this is correct, but we will need the position). No need to hurry. We decided to place ourselfs near the cinema after the sponsor wall south of the carpet. But they began to build a fence there for the press area. So we moved a litle bit further to the entrance of the cinma. An hour later they started to shut the whole side south of the carpet in front of the cinema for VIPs. Of course now the north side of the carpet was crowded. It was about 10 rows. No chance there!
So we went to the other side of the sponsor wall, again south of the carpet. On the north side was only a short space directly on the carpet with many folks. There was the driveway for the cars aswell. The south side was devided into two areas by another drive way. So we stood firstly near the sponsor wall directly at one of the drive ways. We made nice contacts and watched the elephant to be brought in.
Then we figured out that we stood on the way out, not in. So we moved on the other side of the way out opposit of the crowded north of the carpet with a good sight on the carpet and the sponsor wall. Later we had to move a little bit further again and were then in a small official fan area. Woohoo!

We spent the afternoon with nice chats. At 6 p.m. started the radio show. The hosts heated up the fans by giving away tickets for the premiere screening. This made everybody greedy and was not to my liking. The stars arrived over an hour later.

First was Francis Lawrence. The incoming cars stopped nearly in front of us. Lawrence had a lot of fun. He started with the autographs at our side. He was very gentle and asked me if I wanted my book signed on the cover or inside. I wanted it on the cover and so he did. He made his round and was enjoying himself a lot.

Next came Christoph Walz. He started on the north side. When he came to us he only gave about every 10th the honor of an autograph and I was not with them. The girls to our right asked for a picture what he refused. Mr. Waltz is not everybody’s darling.

Then came Rob and the Sony Center was exploding! He left the car and was already on his way to the north side giving a short wave in our direction. But then, he was turned around, guided round the car and started to sign on our side about 5 meters to the left! But I didn’t see anything because of all the books, magazines and cameras that were held up for Rob. He came along very slowly because he signed every single item and made photos with everybody, who wanted one.

Then Lawrence came back with a little camera in his hand. Obviously he wanted to document the crazyness for Rob. He wanted us to wave and shout. Of course we did and he took photos or a video. This man was having fun a lot! I took a photo from him too!

When Rob came nearer I managed to take a photos from him two steps to my left. And then he was there! Right in front of me. And suddenly I nearly didn’t see anything because of about 100 arms that came from behind me holding stuff to sign and cameras to take photos. I struggeld for sight an position and managed to give him my book and asked him in english to please sign. Perhaps because of that he looked up: straight into my eyes! An arm length away from me. OMG! He smiled and signed my book on the cover as well. Suddenly I was very busy not to pass out! But it was so crowded now that it would have been impossible to fall down. I was barely standing on my toes because of all the pushing.
Rob is really someone to look at. And he ist tall and well built. Not to speak about his face and eyes and hair. But I was most impressed by his personality. Rob has an adorable aura that can fill empty halls. You could feel this. He looked not 100% at ease. You could see that this situation in general is no favorite of his. I could watch him sigh once when he was a bit further to my right. But he gave his best. I think everybody in our row got his autograph or photo. The girls to our right made photos with him. So we could enjoy his presence a little longer. Then Rob went to the sponsor wall for the press. We could see him there but it was far away and very crowded. And that was it with autographs from Rob for normal fans. He could not go to the north side or the other side from the drive out where we stood in the morning. And from what we learned, after the press he just gave some autographs to the winners of a magazine in front of the cinema (the VIP area where we stood first) and was quickly directed in. He wanted to come back for the fans on the other side of the carpet in front of the cinema but wasn’t allowed to, somebody told us.
Rob waved from the balcony of the cinema before the beginning of the screening. At about 9 p.m. he left for the after party, what we watched from a distance.
My friend and I sat down again at the Pizzaria and watched them tearing everything down. We kept telling each others that this was true. She got her autograph too. We have been so lucky! Afer a long day in the right place just by chance! This was the jackpot! I will never forget!
It was absolutely crazy coming from Munich and near Frankfurt to Berlin to experience this premiere. We did not care to ask for more than beeing part of this and maybe see the stars (what not everybody did from the 1000 fans who were there) and feel the athmosphere of such an event. And we have been rewarded so much. THANKS!

Ashley Greene Shooting The Apparation

Getting down to business, Ashley Greene was spotted on the set of her new movie “Apparition” in Palmdale, California yesterday (March 25)

The “New Moon” babe looked lovely as she made her way around the lot, sporting a big beige coat with blue pants and tan suede UGG boots.

As for the upcoming “Breaking Dawn” flick, Ashley told press she’d love to see it split into a double finale.

"I wouldn't mind seeing it split up because the book is huge, and there's so much that's involved, and there are so many different kinds
of intertwining stories. The problem with changing books into film is
that you don't have time to tell this intricate story that you do in
700 pages of a book. I don't think it could hurt."

Gala Magazine (Germany) features New Moon Cast

GALA, 18 Nov 2009 (Germany)

SCRUMPTIOUS

The world has tasted blood
The hype around Robert Pattinson and the other young stars from Twilight takes on absurd dimensions. GALA explains the shocking phenomenon of today.

The article starts with 18,000 screaming teenage fans in Munich waiting for Rob, Kris & Tay. Apparently, Rob has eyes only for Kristen (one of the girls is holding his picture) and he keeps looking for a glance from her and is constantly putting his arm around her.
Rob has 25 bodyguards and the reporter compares the hysteria around him to the Beatles-mania in the 60s. Twilight film earned €270 mil and New Moon is expected to reach even higher numbers and thus is a competition to Harry Potter films.

They say that Rob hates masses of people and now is constantly in the middle of them. “Every time I’m in the middle of a crowd I get scared that somebody will stab or shoot me,” says Rob about his biggest fear. A few scary fans instances: a mother came up to him with her baby wanting him to bite the baby, another 12-year-old girl threatening to kill herself if doesn’t go to see “High School Musical 3” with her. He had to turn down an offer of an independent film production because they only could get him eight bodyguards.

Germany's Gala Magazine Features New Moon

Translation:
Do you even know in which city you are anymore?
(laughs) In Munich, right? But Yesterday I woke up and truly didn't knew that I was in Madrid. It's a weird feeling.

You spend a lot of time in hotels. Is there Something that you always take with you ? A talisman?
It's not supposed to sound pompous, but I like it to take my guitar with me. And my hat. I can't sleep on the plane when I have the feeling someone's watching me. So I pull the hat in my face and then it works.

Edward Cullen is super strong, can read minds and won't get old. Which ability would you like to have the most?
I really don't wanna know what people are thinking about me.(laughs) And being a teenager my whole life, that's not my thing. So I would choose the third option. Super powers. But probably people would start asking me for help then. No, I feel pretty good being mortal.

If you could transform into anybody else, who would you be?
I think a dog. I always thought the lifestyle of a dog was fascinating: sitting around, sleeping, getting pats, eating and going for a walk once in a while. It's nice. There is a deep attachment between me and dogs.

You get compared to actors like James Dean, Hugh Grant and Jude Law. Who do you like the most?
James Dean of course, He is just playing in another league. Weirdly I got uncomfortable getting compared to British actors. I don't know why, it's just like that.

Would you like to play the part of James Dean?
Absolutely, but I don't know if I could. I think, James Franco did a pretty good job.

You're a lot in the USA and travel around. Do you miss London?
Yes, I had the best time of my life there. I just had like this tiny apartment in Soho but there were always friends coming over.
The most time about five or six, that spend the night there. That felt wonderfully unconventional. That was the life I always imagined. A bit crazy, but suitable for an actor. At night we made music on the roof. A lot of my friends are artists and worked in my apartment. They draw pictures, somewhere you could hear a keyboard rattle and there was music.

Did you treat yourself to any luxuries with your salary?
I am pretty contented, but after "Twilight" I bought an awesome electronic guitar from 1951 in Vancouver. That was the first time that I felt decadent. Otherwise I need no luxury. Look at me I'm wearing the same clothes every day.

[Mandy's Note - I love that he points out his ragged clothes ha ha]

Is there someone you would love to make music with?
I would love to work with D'Angelo, he's an awesome R'n'B singer. He didn't made anything in the last years but his music is just incredible.
And then there is this really good blues singer Susan Tedeschi.

If you could choose, where would you like to wake up tomorrow?
In my own home in London. A week ago I was there, for about 16 hours. The first time since 11 months. I met all my friends that I haven't seen since a year. My parents my sister. That I had to leave that fast, was the hardest thing I have done since months. (Kate:Aah I wish you could wake up there too Rob, soon!! )

What would you do if you woudn't be an actor?
I would like to be an music producer. That would be the perfect job for me. Or I would like to write, -anyway something creative.
Maybe stockbroker. I love everything that's hasty.
And I could control my working time. I don't like it to get told when to work.

How do you relax?
Sometimes it's really relaxing to do movies. In "New Moon" I felt totally free in my creativity and that was fun. What else? I would like to play soccer, but to be honest I am a loser at sports. That's why I have to hit the gym at times.

How did you work out for New Moon ?
I boxed a lot. It's awesome because it doesn't only transform your body but also your posture and thinking. Even if you just walk down the street, you suddenly have another radiation because you just don't feel that fragile anymore. That's why I chose boxing. (*Kate Faints*)

You're going to be in "Bel Ami" with Nicole Kidman? (Kate:Ok so obviously this interview was done before this was confirmed as a NO to Nicole)
That's not confirmed jet, but yes it looks good. It certainly will be a good movie, I look forward to it because it's so different then anything I have done before. I am ready for it. And I look forward to it because it's so gloomy. My only worry is that people just don't want to see me in any other movie then Twilight. (Kate: Don't worry about that Rob, we know you have lots more to give us and we are looking forward to it)

Are you sometimes still surprised by Twilights huge success?
Even if I look cool on the outside, I tell you what: It's just a facade.

What do you miss the most about your old life?
Walking carefree down the street. I love it to travel and get to know the cities and their people. Since I can think I lived in London it's full of live there 24/7. Now I can't go anywhere without this feeling that I got watched all the time. And I just can say: I don't like that feeling. (Kate: :-( )

Are there days that you wish you hadn't agreed to play the part?
No, eventhough there are of course a lot of negative aspects next to the good ones. But still there was no day when I was like: Oh I wish I woud'nt had accepted this.
That would be pointless- it's too late anyway.
On the other hand I never think: I am so happy, it coudn't get any better.Especially when I think about what I started and what was important to me then and what I wanted.

And what was that?
As an unemployed actor you're always annoyed: Again and again you have to go to some auditions and never you get the part. Either you don't have the name or you turn it down yourself because the money is not even good enough to get you through the month.
And all of the sudden you get famous and can choose the jobs you want to do.

That sounds awesome.
And it is, but on the other hand it increases the press. Producers expect to get the theater full with my name. Furthermore everyone expects you to act like a true celebrity even if it's not on screen. It's crazy when you have to turn down a job because the costs for the bodyguards that secure that you can work and stay undisturbed would blow the budget.
