Summer House to play at Toronto Film Festival June 1 - 6

Hollywood News posted this:

By Kim Palacios

HollywoodNews.com: In a few weeks time, The Worldwide Short Film Festival will be screening “The Summer House”, a short film in which Robert Pattinson plays. The short film is an adaptation of a coming-of-age story in which a teenage girl (Jane) summering at an aunt’s chateau in rural France discovers the complexity of romantic relationships—both those of certain family members, as well as her own.

The film was shot in 2008, just prior to the release of “Twilight”, the final buffer between Rob and international mega-stardom. In “The Summer House”, Rob plays the role of 18-year-old Richard, the love interest of Jane. Having broken up with her to date another woman prior to her departure for the summer, once dumped by the other, he appears unexpectedly at Jane’s retreat to win her back. Through a series of benign advances (e.g., love letters) and other more forceful attempts, he pushes Jane to come farther into herself.

The film’s official web site describes Richard as a “good looking boy, with an ambivalent feminine side, skinny and androgynous in the fashion of that time. He is narcissistic and entirely self regarding, his is a solipsistic universe with only one golden person inhabiting it; himself.”

The festival will run from June 1st to June 6th in Toronto, Canada, and will feature a series of celebrity shorts. In addition to Robert Pattinson in “The Summer House” other notable celeb appearances include Vincent D’Onofrio (“The New Tenants”), Saturday Night Live’s Kristen Wiig (“One Night Only”), and the voice of Meryl Streep (“There Must Be More to Life”).

Jackson Rathbone among many celebs to help Vancouver DOXA

Jackson very generously donated his time to us (DOXA the Documentary Film Festival based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) by using a single-use camera to shoot some pics of his life. The camera is currently being auctioned off through EBAY with all proceeds going to our non-profit festival. Please spread the word about this as we are extremely appreciative of his time and want to make sure that his camera gets the bids it deserves. You can see the page and bid on Jackson's camera here: DOXA Festival.

Mandy's Mind - Intersting fact, the page lists Jackson's twitter as @mrrathbone

There are lot's of interesting celebs who participated:

Equipped with single-use cameras, your favourite celebs have unleashed their point & shoot creativity to support EXPOSED! DOXA’s second annual Celebrity Camera Auction. The only stipulation they have been given is that one of the photos must convey their identity in some way. The celebrities have sent the undeveloped cameras back to DOXA to be auctioned off on eBay during the festival.

Bidding begins on Friday, May 7 and continues for 10 days until Sunday, May 16. Be the highest bidder to own a unique set of undeveloped snapshots!

Sundance Film Festival includes 2 of Kristen Stewart's Movies

Sundance Film Festival director John Cooper recently spoke out in defense of his decision to include two of Kristen Stewart's film on this year's festival schedule.

Those films, of course, are Welcome To The Rileys and The Runaways.

In Rileys, Stewart portrays a young woman (who happens to be a stripper), and she is joined on the cast by The Sopranos alum James Gandolfini and her former The Cake Eaters co-star Melissa Leo.

In The Runaways, you already know, Stewart portrays the one and only Joan Jett, and she is joined on the cast by her New Moon and Eclipse co-star Dakota Fanning.

Clearly, both roles are of night and day difference (almost literally) from Stewart's work in Twilight, but according to the Toronto Sun, "Stewart’s inclusion has raised some hackles among cinephiles."

Cooper, however, isn't budging. Said he, "She’s putting her money where her mouth is . . . I think it’s great. These are tough parts." Keepin' it classy, Mr. Cooper. Nicely done.
