VMAS 2010

I posted Reasons to watch 2010 VMAs but really, they weren't all that entertaining.

On my list I was looking forward to a few things, so let's talk about those first and if they measured up to my expectations (not really) then I will discuss other things that happened.

First Taylor vs Kanye

This was anti-climatic.

She sang a forgiveness song that was sweet and slow and had subtle burns but more in a "i feel sorry for you" kind of way. The lyrics are here.

Then Kanye closed the show with a song that made me laugh mostly, though admitedly I had a moment of heartfelt emotion toward him... pity!

He has been such a jerk and his song says "Let's toast to the douchebags, let's toast to the assholes, let's toast to the scumbags" and part of me was laughing at the fact he uses those lyrics while another part of me felt sad he actually feels that way about himself... then I realized he is an ego-maniac who needs medication and it's actually progressive that he can accurately identify himself as a scumbag, asshole douche...

ANYWAYS - - -

Performances...

Some were not memorable, others were amazing.. stand out for me was Eminem opening up the show.... it's a shame he had to leave right after for a show in NYC.. he won a few awards he couldn't accept, not even by video and it kinda sucked actually.

His performance, however, was awesome... really love him! Rihanna showed up to sing also which was a shocker, she was supposedly unable to make it ha ha.

all the other performances were great, especially Florence + the Machine and Usher... I even liked lil Justin Beiber or Bieber or Beaver or whatevs... interestingly enough Usher was out of breath while dancing and singing while the Beaver wasn't even as he was tossed into the air... and his drum solo miraculously kept going even when one stick broke - - - ha ha ha

Jersey Shore

The trash of 2010 - they were in the hot tub and Chelsea got ina nd came out preggers, hilarious, I love that they are the punchline of every joke, and they don't care, I mean even with that kind of money do ou not look in the mirror and wonder wtf am i?

Lady GaGa

I was looking forward to her outfits, and she did not disappoint... nor did her speeches to be honest...

"I never thought I'd be asking Cher to hold my meat purse"

Before Cher announced the winner she said something along the lines of her being "the oldest, biggest hair, smalles outfit" and having "shoes older than some nominees" it was awesome!

After winning video of the year she announced the title of her upcoming album and sang a line, live, randomly from it. She was even a bit emotional! So non-gaga but awesome, even in a meat dress.

Chelsea was a good host, some odd humour, some over the top humour (Ride Joe / Alcide's face home) a nice opening act with Lindsay Lohan saying tha tno one wants to work with a drunk, she should know ha ha a few funny clips I really love that the stars can make fun of themselves, it's awesome!

Overall nothing really too exciting... but I watched anyways ha ha

Thoughts?

Taylor Swift "Innocent" Lyrics from VMAs to Kanye West

Here are the lyrics to Taylor Swift's new song "Innocent" performed at the VMA's regarding the incident with Kanye West last year. Her performance opened with clips form last year (not Kanye though) just her name being called, her shock and excitment, him running up, then her sad face.... she sang it beautifully and she looked elegant.

I guess you really did it this time
Left yourself in your war path
Lost your balance on a tightrope
Lost your mind trying to get it back

Wasn't it easier in your lunch box days?
Always a bigger bed to crawl into
Wasn't it beautiful when you believed in everything
And everybody believed in you?

It's all right, just wait and see
Your streaming lights are still bright to me oh
Who you are is not what you've been
You're still an innocent
You're still an innocent

There's some things you can't speak of
But tonight you'll leave it all again
You wouldn't be shattered on the floor now
If only you would sing only what you know ...

Wasn't it easy you're in your firefly-catching days
And everything out of reach, someone bigger brought down to you
Wasn't it beautiful running wild till you fell asleep
Before the monsters caught up to you?

It's all right, just wait and see
Your streaming lights are still bright to me oh
Who you are is not who you've been
You're still an innocent
It's OK, life is a tough crowd
32 and still growing up now
Who you are is not what you did
You're still an innocent

Time turns flames to ambers
You'll have new Septembers
Every one of us has messed up too
Mind change like the weather
I hope you remember today is never too late
To be brave (ohh)

It's all right, just wait and see
Your streaming lights are bright to me oh
Who you are is not where you've been
You're still an innocent
It's OK, life is a tough crowd
32 and still growing up now
Who you are is not what you did
You're still an innocent
Lost your balance on a tightrope

If you notice any mistakes to the lyrics let me know I know a few commenters on MTV listed changes which have been edited...

VMAs - Reasons to watch even though Robert Pattinson is not attending... and an Ashley Greene rant..

There will be no ROb, no Kristen, no Taylor, not even a Kellan or Jackson at the VMAs (according to reports, though I am still hopeful someone will show up) The only one scheduled is ... Ms Greene.

I have no REAL issue with her, I promise, She just annoys me... ha ha - I just feel like she has personal papz and we see her everyday, shopping, or gassing up, or talking on the phone, or wandering or drinking coffee or (best of all) kissing various hot boys

Here she is after a fitting for the VMA's tomorrow...

Ashley Greene is the only Twi Star scheduled to attend the VMAs and perhaps that is why I haven't really been as psyched as usual by them.. then again, I have been so busy with life... *sigh*

Regardless she is presenting and there are some other really cool rumours going around such as a Taylor Swift revenge song... tee hee watchout Kanye

We all remember last year's "debacle" as they call it...

AP Reports:

NEW YORK — Be warned, Kanye: Taylor Swift has written a song about you, and she's singing it at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards.

The country superstar's win for best female video last year was marred when Kanye West got on stage and said it should have gone to Beyonce.

Swift wrote a song about the experience earlier this year, and a source familiar with the show said Saturday the 20-year-old will sing the new song at the VMAs, which will be aired live on MTV. The source did not want to be identified because of the sensitivity of the matter.

The song is on Swift's upcoming album "Speak Now," due out in October. The source said Swift performed it during a secret rehearsal in Los Angeles for the VMAs on Friday.

Though the West-Swift moment only lasted but a few minutes, it has endured for what seems to be a lifetime. It became a cultural watershed moment and gave West the most intense backlash of his career, despite an apology delivered later.

Apparently Kanye is performing too, I will bet he sings his song he wrote for Taylor... his apology... hmmm... Both are also nominated for awards.

Speaking of Kanye did you see his tweets... he went on and on and on and I think he honestly needs medication...

Taylor had also tweeted something long the lines of: Even though Kanye said sorry on twitter I won't sing a song with him... it was gone when I went back to copy it...

At least there is something controversial and exciting planned for the VMAs ha ha

The performances. I got to see Travie McCoy on Leno when RPattz was on in June and I just loved Gym Class Heroes so I am excited to see them perform. Other performances I am excited about include:

BoB and Hayley Willians (who have never even MET despite their hit collaboration "airplanes" ha ha)

also Eminem's performance (although Rihanna can't be there). He is supposed to be opening the show and I am thrilled, something about him - rawr!

AND Florence + The Machine who was features on the Eclipse Soundtrack (Heavy in your arms) as well as Eat, Pray Love and a few awesome SYTYCD Routines as well. I am such a fan of their sound and of FLorence Welch's voice... Read 5 things you should know about Florence + the Machine.

Other performances include Jason Derulo, Drake, Usher, Outkast and G-Unit,

Other things to look forward to? What will Lady Gaga wear? also Chelsea Handler and Aziz Ansari... I imagine I will be giggling and "oh no they di-hint" - ing throughout the show.... Presenters.. well we have Ashley Greene representing Twilight (woo... sigh) and then the Glee Cast and Jersey Shore trash and who knows who else will show up, what they will wear and what they will SAY or DO!

Though I honestly forgot VMAs were on this weekend until tonight ha ha (Sorry was pre occupied with preparing for True Blood Finale) I am now excited to tune in tomorrow...

Will you Watch?

What are you looking forward to most?

"We are the World" re-make

Stars perform at the "We Are The World 25 Years for Haiti" recording session held at Jim Henson Studios on Feb. 1 in LA. (Photo by Kevin Mazur/Handout)

How different is the "We are the World" remake from the original version, which shined a light on famine in Africa 25 years ago?

Well, Lil Wayne is singing Bob Dylan's verse this time around and Justin Bieber is singing Lionel Richie's opening line. And as far as the sound goes, mtv.com said it has a "modern Southern hip-hop bounce to it."

As if that isn't confusing enough for your grandparents, the video is being shot in 3-D.

Mandy's Mind - The Grammy's 3D was an epic fail - unless red/blue 3D glasses start coming with every television set it's just blurry and headachey to watch the 3D.

The remake has been in the works for a while but changed its focus last month after the earthquake in Haiti. "We Are The World - 25 for Haiti," recorded in a Hollywood studio on Monday (they wanted to take advantage of the star power in town for the Grammys), will now have a Haiti angle. All profits from the single will go to the earthquake victims.

The original song, which featured Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Ray Charles and Diana Ross, raised $63 million.

Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie brought back the "We Are the World" project 25 years after Richie wrote the song with Michael Jackson.

The very large cast of very large stars was surely hard to manage. Kanye West reportedly showed up to the Jim Henson Studios with an entourage complete with girlfriend Amber Rose and a film crew. In 1985, Quincy Jones did his best to get his talent in line by hanging a sign over the studio entrance that said, "Check Your Ego at the Door."

Mandy's Mind - I heard on the radio that Taylor Swift opted out... knowing Kanye West was there, I don't blame her. I would have rather had her than Kanye quite honestly! And the "Check your Ego at the Door" should have been enforced this time, 25 years later, when ego's are out of control from people such as Kanye and others on the list.

While the orginal recording was sold to raise money in the fight against world famine, the remake will be sold to benefit victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti. Many stars have already started talking about the experience, and it sounds like it will match up to the original.

Nicole Richie was there with her father, Lionel Richie, when he worked on the original. This time she was there with husband Joel Madden and their son, Sparrow. She wrote on her Twitter Monday, "WOW. Brian Wilson stood next to me & I got to hear him sing right into my left ear. Can you say AWESOME!"

Meanwhile young singer Justin Bieber said he could barely keep his eyes off Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls. He Tweeted, "Singing We Are The World right now with celine dion next to me!! Everyone is here!! I'm meeting everyone!! This is insane! Ok ok chill."

The full list of all 81 choir singers hasn't yet been released, but here are some of the stars we know were there.

The Grammy's Summary

Here are some note son the Grammy's - - lot's of opinions, take em of leave em.... mainly leave your own comments in the comment section at the end ;)

Nomination Leaders

Beyoncé - 10
Taylor Swift - 8
Black Eyed Peas - 6
Maxwell - 6
Kanye West - 6
David Guetta -5
Jay-Z -5
Lady Gaga - 5
Colbie Caillat - 4
Kings of Leon - 4
Bruce Springsteen - 4
T-Pain - 4
Keith Urban - 4

Winning Leaders

Beyoncé - 6
Black Eyed Peas - 3

Performances

1.Lady Gaga & Elton John - "Poker Face"/"Speechless"/"Your Song"
Both were glammed up and roughed up with giant sparkley glasses. They sat opposite each other on a giant piano covered in arms.

2.Green Day with the cast of American Idiot - "21 Guns"
Great voices, great passion.

3.Beyoncé - "If I Were a Boy"/"You Oughta Know"
Amazing performance. Expected Alanis Morrisette to pop out on stage. Some crotch grabbing and show tricks along the way.

4.Pink - "Glitter in the Air"
I loved that she looked very angelic, not typical of bad-ass rocker Pink. Then her "barely-there" outfit a mere few sparkles and straps covering the parts legally required to be covered. What I really loved was her in the air spinning then wet dripping water at the celebs, undoubtedly annoyed, below. Very beautiful show.

5.Black Eyed Peas - "Imma Be"/"I Gotta Feeling"
Typical high energy, odd costumes, fun performance from BEP's

6.Lady Antebellum - "Need You Now"
Good other than the stage screen landingon her head briefly, she recovered well.

7.Jamie Foxx, T-Pain, Slash & Doug E. Fresh - "Blame It"
This was fun, though i can't be sure if Foxx dissed Jay Z at the end or not?!?! Slash was awesome.

8.Zac Brown Band & Leon Russell - "America the Beautiful"/"Dixie Lullaby"/"Chicken Fried"
I am Canadian, so the singing of the "America the Beautiful" first seemed a bit too patriotic to me, though I know many will disagree, I am not trying to offend, I just don't think anthems at awards shows are neccessary personally... Canadian, American, or otherwise... plus I am going to hear a lot of them all very soon as the 2010 Olympics come to town. Love Chicken Fried... catchy fun song.

9.Taylor Swift & Stevie Nicks - "Today Was a Fairytale"/"Rhiannon"/"You Belong with Me"
Eek - this didn't go over well. Their voices seemed to repel each other, clash, like a bad karaoke. I love TSwift, and SNicks, but.. this just wasn't good... Stevie is too old to sing about short shorts and captain of the football team...plus the banjo... no...

10.Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, Carrie Underwood & Usher - "Earth Song" (Michael Jackson tribute)
I didn't get my 3D glasses so this was more of a headache to watch, but the singing was beautiful. Love Usher!!! I am not generally a Celine fan, despite being Canadian, I know... take away my citizenship

11.Bon Jovi & Jennifer Nettles - "We Weren't Born to Follow"/"Who Says You Can't Go Home"/"Livin' on a Prayer"
Loves seeing Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles on stage though she seemed to be trying a bit "too hard" and it came across almost ditzy/awkward non?

12.David Foster, Mary J. Blige & Andrea Bocelli - "Bridge over Troubled Water"
Beautiful voices came together for an amazing performance.

13.Dave Matthews Band - "You and Me"
LOVE DMB loved how they all rocked out hard care... fun!

14.Maxwell & Roberta Flack - "Pretty Wings"/"Where Is the Love"
Iconic really... amazing performace

15.Jeff Beck & Imelda May - "How High the Moon" (Les Paul tribute)
I loved Imelda's hait/style, I loved them grouped together.

16.Drake, Eminem, Lil Wayne & Travis Barker - "Drop the World"/"Forever"

Honestly, these guys ROCKED it... I just love all of them and my crush on Eminem got a lil bigger Shhh....

Some of the presenters

Kristen Bell & Josh Duhamel - she is so tiny, they are both cute, I really want to see "When in Rome"

Justin Bieber & Kei$ha - this kid said "Beyonce" instead of "Bon Jovi" who does that? and Kei$ha is not 12-teen and looked pervy next to him... I love her tik tok song but i am not sure what i think of her yet... it's not looking optimistic.

Jonas Brothers - soft spoken, one was in goofy glasses (sorry Jonas can't pull off that look imo) and I still think Kevin swings both ways...

Stephen Colbert - He had some good jokes to start off the show.

Miley Cyrus - yawn

Robert Downey Jr. - His crooked glasses made me swoon

Wyclef Jean - I've heard rumours about him and his Haiti campaign and I am not sure if they are true or if I like him anymore.

Norah Jones & Ringo Starr - LOVE her, not sure how appropriate Ringo pointing out how many times she'd won the award was.. maybe he's still high from the 60s say fellow tweeters.

Miranda Lambert - getting fat

LL Cool J - *is* relevent ;) heh heh liked his hat, still has a baby face even tho he's old.

Jennifer Lopez - can't believe she had kids

Ricky Martin & Lea Michele - Hot

Chris O'Donnell - wondered what happened to him, still hot.

Adam Sandler - funny guy.... always fun at awards shows

Ryan Seacrest - always himself, honest, professional (mostly)

Quentin Tarantino - poka-dots excentuate his weight gain, giant shades excentuate his attempt to hide his "im really high eyes" and his gangsta talk to introduce the performance made me laugh... gotta love him.

Kings of Leon beat out Beyoncé, Black eyed peas, Lady Gaga & Taylor Swift

Thrilled and unexpected... they were HAPPY DRUNK and offered shots to anyone they forgot to thank.

No Kanye but Rhianna and Jay-Z brought lil guy up and they looked like one big happy family... the kid was cute.

Also awesome was Michael Jackson's kids accepting an award on his behalf, they are so brave and amazing to stand in front of a massive crowd like that.

There are tons more winners, both televised and not. Go to the Grammy's Website or Here for complete details.
