Nikki Reed Blogs about hiking in Squamish

I’m from Los Angeles, where designated hiking trails dictate the time you spend working out. A 6-hour hike? Even my dog wanted to turn around and go home. Apparently the locals call this place “nature’s stairmaster.” Let me tell you now, no stairmaster leaves you as beat up as this mountain left me. I only huffed and puffed my way up for about 45 min before the twitching muscles in my legs said “no more”. Then began the slow, treacherous journey down. To be honest, if I were adequately prepared I would have brought butt pads.
The following day I attempted to seek out a hike that was more about the view than the glute workout. Note to self: When taking the scenic route in another country that uses the metric system, make sure to bring a device with a converter…or Google it. I underestimated what a 12km hike was. 2 ½ hours later, Enzo and I were still wandering around in the forest trying to find our breadcrumbs.
(Don’t judge the photos. The iphone camera didn’t do this place justice. Next time I will bring my “big girl” camera.)

Happy Monday

I spent the weekend wrapping presents, watching the complete first season of Dexter and in an |Eclipse induced coma of special features, commentaries and so on....

Overall a weekend WIN except that last night my kitchen flooded. I live on the bottom floor of our condo's and the building pipe clogged apparently and we were the first opening the overflowing water could find - - - joyous!

So despite a restful and relaxing weekend my Sunday evening/Monday morning has been CRAPPY!

But that is ok - - this week is filled with Holiday Dinner Parties, Sam Bradley on Thursday and my best friend's birthday Friday as well as other friend's birthdays and holiday parties on Saturday. I now have a total of 8 shin dig's I hope to pop into over the weekend - wish me luck!

I will be posting daily on any new and exciting news in Twilight, Reality TV and gene3ral pop culture fun that interests me....

I will be live tweeting from Sam Bradley's Concert in Vancouver on Thursday.

I will also be drinking an obscene amount of alcohol since I hacve been lacking lately.

I am so glad to be working but let me tell you - this weekend will be MUCH appreciated!

It's been a REALLY long week and this weekend I plan to relax, go to the drive-in for Last Airbender, Inception (again) and JOnah Hex (maybe - three movies is a late night)

I have posted quite a bit this week on lunch breaks or late at night (though I schedule the posts throughout the day not all at once)

Even cooler, we did a video chat with Jimmy Kimmel, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart while Dakota fanning, Peter Facinelli, Bryce Dallas howard and Xavier Samuel came INTO our theatre after "technical difficulties"

I have so much more to say about this all but I was front row and it was so exciting...

Happy Monday

Hope everyone had a restful weekend.

In Canada we have our long weekend so today is a holiday Monday - yipee!

This weekend I stayed home for family time, lot's of movies, lot's of blogging and a BBQ last night.

Happy Monday

The Canadian Team won Men's Gold Hockey against USA. It was epic. I was partying from 8am until almost midnight... I have awesome videos, photos, stories and greatness to share.

Also, after sleeping, I promise to get all caught up on everything Twilight and Reality TV and Important in this crazy world.

The Olympics are officially over and I am feeling sad.... It was a crzy but exciting time in Vancouver and so much happened I haven't even had time to blog it all... nor have I kept up with my usual blogs...

but this week is catch up so watch out!

GO CANADA GO!

Jeff Probst Blogs about Survivor Finale - "Nobody outplayed Russell"

I am so thrilled to see this blog, I agree wholeheartedly, and also felt that the jury was simply bitter. Russell should have won and will forever go down as the best player in history!!!! Be sure to check out Season 20 Heroes vs. Villains with returning castaways. (See my prediction here)

Okay, now that the show is officially over I’m going to take off my hosting and producing hat and just give you my personal reaction to what went down last night.

I think Russell was the victim of a jury of bitter people. I am not taking anything away from Natalie, she clearly did a great job of reading the group dynamic of the jury and as a result she deserves the money.

Oftentimes on Survivor, the vote does come down to a choice where a determining factor is “how nice someone is” but that’s usually when all other criteria being considered is equal. That doesn’t hold up this season. This season was so lopsided in terms of one person (Russell) completely dominating the game that to not give him the money and the title is a bit silly.

If I were playing Survivor, no matter how much I despised someone, if they kicked my ass in the game I would give it to them. Period. Outwit. Outplay. Nobody outwitted or outplayed Russell. Not even close.
I was a bit surprised at Erik’s nod to Natalie during the final tribal council. I think he certainly helped Natalie and definitely hurt Russell. I also think that when Erik watches this season again in a few years he will regret not giving his vote to Russell. Erik is the kind of guy who I thought would respect a player like Russell. I think Erik was still smarting from the whole Galu disaster.

I do not believe the jury voted for Natalie, I believe the jury voted against Russell.

Russell was clearly upset last night and I think a lot of people understand why that would be. He played a very risky and creative game and he wanted to be acknowledged. As for the audience, they spoke quite loudly when they awarded him the $100,000 from Sprint by an overwhelming 46% Russell to 10% Shambo… and 7% Natalie. Not even close. I put myself in that same group. Again, I’m speaking as a fan, not as a host or a producer.

But hey this is how it goes, it’s why Survivor is so fun to watch, you can never predict the outcome. So…

A FEW QUESTIONS…
Q. Can you be considered the greatest player ever if you don’t win? Hmmm. It’s a tough question for me. On one hand, it’s a no-brainer, absolutely not. Survivor is a social game and to win you have to vote people out in a way that compels them to return and vote for you to win the game. It’s extremely complicated and Russell did not achieve it, therefore he cannot be considered the greatest player to ever play. On the other hand, I can’t think of anybody who has ever played a game like Russell played. It was so dominating that I am still shaking my head that he didn’t win. The only guy I could even see having the talent and guts to do something equally dominating would be Boston Rob. So I am on the fence on this one. But this much I am certain of – Russell is without any question ONE of the greats. No doubt about it.

Q. Did Natalie play a better game than Russell? For me, that’s a bit easier to answer. I do not think that Natalie played a better game, but rather was the right person in the right position who made one very good strategic move and that was to stay out of Russell’s way, and as a result she ended up with the money. But to be fair – a very good counter argument is that Natalie used her strengths, avoided her weaknesses and by taking this active approach to the game, she put herself in position to win the money and it paid off. It’s a counter argument, but not one that I’m that fond of supporting.

Q. Was this a great season or a lame season? For me, this is another easy question. Survivor: Samoa will rank as one of my favorite seasons and for one reason: Russell Hantz. He single handedly kept this show interesting week after week after week. But I know some will argue that because it was “The Russell Season” it lacked having more big characters and therefore does not rank as high. This is one that will be debated by Survivor fans for years to come.

LIFE GOES ON AND SO DOES SURVIVOR
I hope you’re all jazzed about Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains. I think you are going to really enjoy it! We have an all-star cast returning. A lot of people you will expect and want to see and a couple of surprise choices that may leave you scratching your head, which we love, by the way.

VanCity BlogHer Holiday Party

So my friend is a blogger.

She pretty much spends most of her time doing that in leiu of a "real job"

I love it.

I remember in early 2009 when I asked her, how can I become a full time professional blogger. She told me a lot about blogging but one thing she said was that I needed a "niche" since not a lot of people read "diary or journal blogs" anymore unless they are unique....

at that time my blogs were journaly, gossipy, boring... then... Twilight came to town.

I went from my own friends and may 20 people I knew from a friend of a friend reading my blog, to thousands of people....

I didn't find my "niche" it found me.

Now - several months, two movies and several cast encounters later - here we are.

I am not in a situation to quit my "real job" to blog - the money I have made from blogging would not even cover the cost of vodka, hell of even coffee to keep me blogging as often as I do - - - BUT - - - It is an outlet, it is fun, it is interactive and I love it.

That being said..... my blogger friend is throwing a blog-her holiday party for charity and she invited me since I am in Vancouver, I am a woman and I am indeed a blogger.... so this upcoming Sunday I will be attending an appie & drink party to meet other female bloggers in Vancouver... exciting.

I love writing and I thank you all for reading... it is a fun outlet for me and I am so glad to have readers like you to keep me motivated :-)

For the past month there has been some serious New Moon Madness going on. Since the movie release, there has been a little talk on fashion and bad wigs and such. So, I thought I'd take everyone back to when each Cullen was turned into a vampire. I'm going to show you the styles they may have wore that were popular in their times. Thanksgiving and Black Friday rocked my world - back to the real world now...

Back from an amazing turkey dinner with family in Seattle then a midnight - 6am shopping spree for Black Friday

(well, it felt like a shopping spree, the sales were amazing - we scored a ton of stuff at 30-90% off resulting in new bedroom decor, new bathroom set, all our xmas shopping DONE and then of course Duty Free which means cheap booze for the holiday season - score!!!)

New Moon & Eclipse were filmed in Vancouver and I had the opportunity to meet so many of the cast.



Ok, but seriously... I am thankful for many things...

Wonderful daughter and husband who I adore.

Moving to a new condo in which I love.

Friends and Family who are always there for me.

New friends and people in my life from this crazy Twilight Phenomena.

Turkey... I love turkey almost as much as I love guacamole.

My Health. Although I was quite sick earlier this month I am thankful to be healthy now.

Future. I am so excited for Christmas and the New Year. 2010 Will be a very busy time with the Olympics, possibilities of Breaking Dawn, my big 30th birthday bash, our new home and who knows what other surprises will pop up.

I hope you all enjoy your American Thanksgiving if you celebrate, and if not, enjoy your weekend and be thankful for what you have in your life.
