Summer Movies 2010 Update

I remember posting a 2010 Movie overview & being especially excited for all the summer movies.

As we draw closer to Summer, however, there are only a few that I am still super excited about and a lot I am not sure anyone will see.


Recently Released:

Iron Man 2



I saw this opening night with a group of friends in IMAX. It was a great night, Eclipse posters up, Eclipse IMAX Trailer on the big screen, then Iron Man 2 - a review for here nutshell, Loved Robert Downey Jr & overall casting, loved action, didn't like some of the subplots which were hard to follow without comic book knowledge.

Letters to Juliet



Amanda Seyfreid annoys me - I can't say why, I mean obviously she made out with Channing Tatum but that was the nail in the coffin, she had annoyed me before Dear John and her kissing my man, singing when she didn't have to acting. I know people love her, fine. I don't. I can't say I hate her, she just... annoys me... and this trailer doesn't help... her voice is too soft, she comes across too innocent, i don't know - when I figure it out I will let you know but t's ongoing... Even still, I am a sucker for Romantic Comedies and will probably see this before dd.

Just Wright



This doesn't interest me at all, though Common does & Queen Latifah is usually a dvd movie NOT a theatre movie... what more is there to say?

Robin Hood



Meh - I will see this because I feel obliged but I am not as eager as I thought I would be. Cate Blanchett is a completely under-rated actress, she is always so fabulous she takes on huge and diverse roles so well... Russell Crowe is an over-rated actor who is an asshole in real life (so I hear, no I haven't had the misfortune of meeting him) so I just feel - meh about this film overall. The only selling point is Ridley Scott - for that I will go see it.

Next Week

Shrek Forever After



Can' wait! This looks epic and in 3D too! Love Shrek, maybe it's the child in me, or the mother in me, but I am a sucker for Animated comedies!

MacGruber



Lame - an SNL SKit made into a movie, where have we seen THIS before... I don't like the Mac Gruber Skit, I do like looking at Ryan Phillipe topless though, so we shall see. Side note - I was actually an extra in MacGyver several times as a child... Richard Dean Anderson - nice guy!

Sex and the City 2



If you love SATC then you will love this. That is all I can really say.

Agora


I am a fan of these kinds of movies, though secretly. I have a history interest rooted deeply, it rarely emerges publicly. I usually do dvd for these kinds of films, but we shall see. I just love watching varous perspectives on what happened in those days. The wars, the politics, the romance, the belief systems that rules and faltered.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time



I am so conflicted with this one. The plot, the video game, the idea doesn't intrigue me, but Jake G sure does... topless nonetheless... I will probably giv ein and go see this in theatres.

Survival of the Dead



Zombies - if that's your thing go see it, if not, stay home.

Get Him to the Greek



This is a spin-off of Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Same director, same co-stars, though now they take the lead in a twisted, asumingly humourous movie. Jonah Hill and Russell Brand were pretty funny in their supporting roles in the original, and can be funny on their own anywas but we shall see how they take these roles on in this movie. The trailer has it's moments but for the most part Russell Bradn just pisses me off and Jonah Hill is hit or miss for me.

Killers



Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher - I am pretty anti-Heigl after her B.S. with Grey's and her random casting as Stephenie Plum in the upcoming movie to Janet Evanovich's fabulous book series. (PS me and my co-workers went through and did our own casting for Stephenie Plum One for the Money posted here.) I think Ashton is always typically goofy and I am tired of hearing "Let's just say the blah blah blah gave me a licence to blah"

Marmaduke


Owen Wilson is in town filming a movie with Steve Martin and Jack Black. I like Owen Wilson, often, not always. This movie is based on the comic strip "Great Dane."

Ondine


It's a mermaid movie. Not all mermaid movies are good - but I will see all mermaid movies, it's a fascination I have... like most of my blog readers have with vampires...

Colin Farrell used to be sexy but he's been on the radar for so long I don't know if he still has that bad-boy sex appeal. Especially now that he is married, with kids. Not that kids make you unsexy, but his whole sexiness was the bad boy bachelor... non?

He is with his Ondine co-star ALicja Bachelda-Farrell and living a much calmer life than when we last saw him in the spot-light. I think I like it... but I don't think he's as dreamy.

Still, likely wait for DVD.

Splice



I realize this will probably be a fail however Adrien Brody has potential he just chooses for some reason not to use it. Those who read my blog regularily know I am in need of a clone so this movie seems interesting though even a crazy new breed of a mistaken clone won't deter me from my goals.

I will probably see this as part of a triple feature at the drive-in.

June 11

The A-Team


This movie will be corny, so corny it is funny. And it was filmed in Vancouver, and I saw a lot of it being filmed And I got caught in stupid downtown traffic for their big action sequences that shut down main roads - soooo - I will be obliged to see this in theatre. And with sexy Bradley Cooper and amazing Liam Neeson, I just may enjoy it!

The Karate Kid



I love the original and I am not impressed they re-made it, with Will Smith's kid no-less. It was mentioned in my 2010 Movies"Kung Fu Kid" ake of Karate kid. Lil Smith is no Daniel Larusson and Jackie Chan is certainly NO Mr. Miyagi!!


Winter’s Bone



In January this movie was a favourite by Sundance attendee's but I know very little about it personally. A young girl goes searching for her father who disappeared in order to save her family. Jennifer Lawrence [plys Ree and has had great reviews.

June 18

Jonah Hex



This was listed in my previous 2010 movies posts there was little info and with it's release about a month away it finally has a trailer out. Josh Brolin looks hot, Megan Fox looks slutty, I don't know how it will do or if I will go see it but at least we have a trailer to entice us now.


Toy Story 3



Will be Best Animated Feature of the year - hands down - This will RULE the School! I can't wait! and 3D!

Dogtooth



This movie looks really messed up but for that very reason it is intiguing. Popular at last years Cannes I am interested in checkingit out. Basically a crazy family keeps their kids overly sheltered from the real world leading to them having the minds of children even in their late teens. When they are exposed to the real world it becomes even more messed up.

Grown Ups


I thought this would be funny. in my 2010 movie post I had listed it as something I looked forward to seeing. I saw the preview and though it looks funny enough, I don't think I will pay to go see it. Maybe as a double feature at the drive-in but not to go see just this movie. DVD worthy sure.

Knight & Day


No interest really, we'll see.

June 30

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse


Nothing to say here - we all know how I feel about Twilight and that I wl be there opening night and multiple times opening weekend. I only saw Twilight twice in theatres and New Moon three times opening weekend then waited for DVD but Eclipse I sense will be different. Eclipse is my fave book and I think will be my fave movie so expect it to make a lot money from me alone ha ha!

Last Airbender



This movie looks cool and not only because Jackson Rathbone is in it, though that is admitedly what drew me to the movie.

Despicable Me



I didn't have much interest in this film especially with Toy Story and Shrek coming out - animation overload, but I saw the trailer and changed my mind, it looks so cute and quirky and I will deffo go check it out. AND it's also 3D!

Inception



This too didn't seem too interesting until I saw the trailer and understood the concept a bit more. It looks like a pretty intense psychological thriller - I would love to see.

Other Movies I previously listed aren't included because I have no mor einfo on them or no interest in commenting one way or another about them.

And these aren't Summer Movies but I have to include anyways - I am so excited for them!

Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Part 1.

Twilight Moments to look forward to in 2010

I am looking forward to Eclipse more than I did New Moon.... but June is so far away, surely there will be other exciting Twilight news before then!

Here are some Twilight Moments I am looking forward tooo....

It's officially 2010, and you know what that means . . . another year of Twilight!

2009 was a great year for Twilight fans, and we've already discussed this fact thoroughly. Well, 2010 seems to be shaping up - already - to be a great one as well.

Of course, the year will hold ups, downs, and in-betweens . . . and there'll be a few surprises to be sure, but right now there are several coming events of the year that'll make 2010 another year for Twilight fans!
Without further adieu, here are the top ten Twilight moments to look forward to in 2010!

•The Twilight Saga: Eclipse trailer
This is, right now, one of the most immediately anticipated moments in the Twilight fandom. We've already seen one still from the film (showing Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in the meadow), the title art, and the first promotional poster for the film.

Yet, only six months out from the film's release, there's not much about Eclipse (aside from the devoted Twittering from director David Slade) that has been seen. There's been a bit of speculation about when and where the first trailer will debut, but even Slade himself has stated that he doesn't know. If the first trailer for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is anything like the one for The Twilight Saga: New Moon, though, it'll be a monumental occasion . . . Can't wait to see those reaction videos!

•The Twilight Saga: New Moon DVD and deleted scenes/commentary
Sometime this spring, the DVD for The Twilight Saga: New Moon will be released. Last year, when Twilight's DVD was released, there were DVD release parties across the country, including showings from cast members and the director at the various venues of celebration. Perhaps the New Moon DVD will receive the same treatment.

Regardless, the release will be a moment of fun for Twilight fans, and two of the things that the DVD will bring - aside from the actual movie, that is - are deleted scenes and commentary. In the Official Companion for New Moon, there was at least one image from what appears to be a deleted scene (this one, showing Robert Pattinson and Ashley Greene outside of the Swan home). There are two others we've discussed here as well.

According to director Chris Weitz, there'll be about twenty minutes of deleted scenes. Usually, in addition to deleted scenes, a film DVD offers a special commentary option with the director and, potentially, castmates from the movie. For Twilight, the DVD commentary came from Catherine Hardwicke, Robert Pattinson, and Kristen Stewart. In the commentary, the three had the opportunity to reflect on filming and their opinions on certain scenes as they watched. While New Moon has already been discussed (extremely thoroughly) by all parties involved, it'd still be fun to hear their reactions to the film as it progresses on-screen!

•Remember Me, Valentine's Day, The Runaways, and other films by the cast
The Twilight fandom is a devoted bunch. Becoming fans of the cast for the films is practically part and parcel of being a fan of the series. This is especially true when it comes to the "Big Three" (Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner). So, to see their work outside of the saga come to fruition will be fun and pertinent to a lot of the fans.

In Robert Pattinson's case, his spring release film Remember Me (which debuts on March 12, 2010) will probably be a must-see for Twilight fans and fans of the actor. The film tells the story of a young man enduring and overcoming a family hardship in the Big City. He is joined in the film by Lost star Emilie de Ravin, Pierce Brosnan, and Chris Cooper. The release of Remember Me will certainly be a great moment for Twilight fans in 2010.

Along the same vein of the Remember Me release, Taylor Lautner's spring film Valentine's Day (though does not lead the unbelievable cast for the picture) will also hit home for Twilight fans and fans of the actor.

Lautner's immediate co-star and on-screen love interest in the movie is Taylor Swift, and the first promotional trailer for the film that stars the two was only recently seen. Valentine's Day will be released on February 12, 2010, and it'll definitely make the cut as a moment for Twilight fans in 2010.

Kristen Stewart, too, has an important film that'll make its way to theaters in 2010. The Runaways, which also stars her New Moon and Eclipse co-star Dakota Fanning, will be released sometime in 2010. It tells the story of the all-girl band "The Runaways," and Stewart stars as Joan Jett, who was very involved in the filmmaking process. Stewart's Welcome To The Rileys will be hitting theaters in 2010, too (after it, along with The Runaways, makes a stay at Sundance).

In addition to these films, the Twilight cast'll have many, many pictures being released in 2010. A full list is available here.

•Eclipse soundtrack, artists, and contenders
If the formulation of the soundtrack for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is met with the same widespread interest by artists as New Moon's was, it'll be a long stretch of would-be contributors over the next few months. Already, artists like the band Muse have been putting forth their intentions of becoming a part of the Eclipse soundtrack (though Muse is a shoe-in for a great many reasons, you well know).

Another probable contributor for the Eclipse soundtrack is The Killers, who appeared on the New Moon soundtrack and who David Slade has done a music video for (in conjunction with UNICEF). From his tweets, one might also speculate that the band Dead Weather might be a strong contender for the album, considering he raved about the band's video and tweeted pictures of one of their concerts that he attended during the film process.

In any case, chances are that there'll be a push by some bands and singers who want to be a part of the Eclipse soundtrack (especially after the grand reception that the New Moon soundtrack received), and, in turn, there'll also be some fan speculation about what artists should or will make it onto the album. Soon after, a full list of contributors will be announced - as well as a composer for the film's score. The Eclipse soundtrack, then, will certainly be a memorable point in time for 2010.

•The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn announcement
Sometime in 2010, one hopes, the official announcement that The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn is greenlit will be released. At this point, fans have no doubt that the film will be made, but whatever the hold-up may be, it hasn't happened yet. Of course, it's probably just a matter of time . . . At any rate, the day that the official announcement comes will be a fantastic one for fans of the Twilight series. Until then, we wait with bated breath . . . and speculate whether it'll be one or two films.

My 2010 Predictions

I don't usually make predictions but I have had a ton of people ask me so let's give it a go...

#1 - Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will have a leaked sex tape that will make Robsten Lovers around the world quiver with happiness and joy... a full "twi-o" --- it will beat New Moon and Twilight combined for most downloaded video ;)

#2 - Twilight Saga Eclipse will outsell New Moon.

#3 - Breaking Dawn will be announced - filming will start this Fall in Vancouver. Twifans will flock to the 'couve once more, I will be bombarded with emails once more ranging from admiration, requests for information, and hate.

#4 - Jon Gosseline will be date raped by the Octo-mom leading to her pregnancy of another 6 children.

#5 - Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes will have a very public and messy break-up. It will be revealed Tom Cruise was infected by scientology aliens and is half robot. Katie will go back to doing what she want.

#6 - Brangelina will adopt 4 more children, ok maybe 3 and she'll pop out the 4th.

#7 - Taylor Lautner turns 18 and immediately poses for Playgirl... ha jk... Channing Tatum? Please?

#8 - Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens will become engaged... then single.

#9 - With one Jonas married, I predict another Jonas will lose his virginity ring... out of wed-lock *gasp* the sex tape will be all the talk, til Robsten's sex tape comes out of course.

#10 - Summit tries to sue a broadway production of Snow White for using a poisoned red apple being held in a white woman's hand - total copyright infringement... woah-wait .... LoL

#11 - A famous actress will have twins.... too vague? ok um Elizabeth Reaser? LOL

#12 - Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth will host a major gala for charity.

#13 - There will be an earthquake on the west coast.

#14 - Sam Bradley's new album is a chart topper in North America.

#15 - Lady GaGa has a wild and crazy show gone wrong. I don't like to predict bad things, but I'm thinking her wildness goes too far... for even her.

#16 - The reason for Bryce Howard Dallas' casting in Eclipse to replace Rachelle LeFevre is finally revealed... and it is NOT just "schedule conflicts" (duh!)

#17 - Bobby Long and Marcus Foster return to Vancouver to perform in the Fall .... while BD is filming... Rob has one too many heineken's and joins them on stage to sing a few tunes... fans go nuts, the youtube hits are almost as high as the robsten sex tape.

#18 - A Summit big-wig casts another family member for another minor, pointless role in a Summit movie.

#19 - 100 Monkey's "Wide Awake" becomes a top played song on radio stations across the world.

#20 - Nikki Reed gets married... Sage writes a song for the big day.

#21 - It is discovered that vampires really do exsist and werewolves also.

#22 - Dog the Bounty Hunter has another child with Beth, meaning Baby Lisa's daughter has an auntie younger than her.

#23 - Dawson's Creek has a reunion, it is bigger than Saved by the Bell reunion and Pacey is hotter than ever after divorcing Joey after catching her cheating on him with Dawson for a Speilberg porno.... or something... [This is after, of course, Katie is freed from Tom and can make her own decisions in what to act in again]

#24 - World Peace

#25 - Malicious Mandy / Martini Mandy will launch a new blog - ok this isn't a prediction... just you wait - it'll be awesome!

Where to see Twilight Cast in 2010 (besides Twilight Saga of course!)

The Twilight Examiner did a great post on where to see your fave Twi-Cast outside of the Twilight Saga.

They sure have a lot of upcoming projects.<--- My previous post on Upcoming Projects for Twilight Cast... there are some new details not added yet - but read this post by Amanda Bell which highlights some great things Twilight Cast are working on:

The Twilight cast is positively gigantic at this point. With The Twilight Saga: New Moon and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse complete, the list of cast members has grown significantly. There are some who play, well, bigger roles in the film series (i.e., Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner), but even with a cast this formidable, each and every actor in the series holds a special place in the hearts of Twilight fans who support their careers even outside of the series.

There are a few whose 2010 adventures have been well elucidated and explored. For instance, the fact that they’ll be showing in the summer’s The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is pretty much a given.

Movies of 2010

I am so behind on movies of 2009....

I always prefer to read the book first and with so many books turned movies this year (Angels & Demons, My Sister's Keeper, Lovely Bones, etc.) I haven't been able to keep up. I've done next to know reading or movie watching (hey - I have been preoccupied, with, you know - OTHER things... LOL... like Twilight things... and Music things... and this BLOG things!!!)

Anyhow, 2010 is coming and I plan to get as caught up as I can over the Holidays with 2009 movies in preparation for 2010 - a year in which I plan to STAY ON TOP OF THINGS!!! Mainly, new books, movies and shows I am interested in....

I remember posting about the most anticipated Summer Movies of 2010, however, there are so many movies coming out before the summer I am just so excited.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I

The journey to find the remaining Horcruxes. Love that it will be two movies, only because, I cried when the books were over... so prolonging the inevitable seems to work for me...Plus the trailer preview gives me goosebumps

Alice in Wonderland

Tim Burton directs... and if that isn't enough... an all-star cast including Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter. (Also stars Mia Wasikowska, Michael Sheen, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman, Crispin Glover, Christopher Lee) You must see the trailer here

I don't know if this will be good. It's late 1800s, a Wild West bounty hunter tracks a voodoo practitioner bent on raising an army of Confederate zombies.... zombies are cool.... 1800s can be cool... It has Megan Fox in it but as Jennifer's Body proved, the hottie doesn't neccessarily = good movies/box office sales, however, Josh Brolin might... he rocked in No Country for Old Men and W.

Based on the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender, the story takes place in a world divided into the Fire, Water, Earth, and Air Nations. A young “airbender” named Aang must stop the Fire Nation from taking over.

M. Night Shyamalan rocks, Jackson Rathbone is in it.... Dev Patel (Slumdog Millioaire) is also in it... deffo must check out!

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Love the books and was worried this wouldn't be made after Disney dropped the franchise as a result of poor box office sales with The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Coed Mag says: Luckily, Fox picked it up and moved the release date from early summer back to Christmas. The twelve-year-olds inside of us loved the first two Narnia movies, and the gaping hole left by The Lord of the Rings is still almost too much for us to bear, so we’re looking forward to another big-budget epic fantasy fix.

Larry, Curly, and Moe, played by Jim Carrey, Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro... sounds interesting.Writer/directors the Farrelly brothers are making a new Three Stooges adventure.

A Couple of Dicks

A comedy about two cops who try to locate a stolen baseball card and rescue a kidnapped woman... boring... but with director Kevin Smith casting Bruce Willis, Tracy Morgan, Seann William Scott, Adam Brody, Kevin Pollak and more... I feel like it will be pretty hilarious... PLUS this is the first movie Kevin Smith hasn't written but is directing - so - it must have some awesome potential (or he has writer's block and needs something to fill his time?) Who knows - I will go see it though! I love Kevin Smith!

The Book of Eli

A man fights his way across post-apocalyptic America in order to protect a book that holds the secret to saving humankind.... hmmm... Denzel Washington is in it, surely he wouldn't sign on to a crappy movie would he ?

Date Night

With Steve Carell, Tina Fey, Leighton Meester, Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Mark Ruffalo, James Franco, Taraji P. Henson, Common, Kristen Wiig... I think no matter what I am obliged to check this movie out.
