Nightmare on Elm Street Interview with Kellan Lutz

Kellan is scared...

While Kellan Lutz plays a scary creature in the "Twilight Saga" -- if you call a vegetarian vampire scary, that is -- it's his next role in the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" remake that has him really frightened. You see, it seems Lutz's connection to the flick and its bad guy, Freddy Krueger, runs all the way to his childhood.

That was one of the movies that actually scared me growing up," Lutz told MTV News about the 1984 remake, due out on April 30. "My brothers were the biggest threat growing up with all the poundings, but Jason and Chucky weren’t too scary. I laughed at them. Clowns are funny to me."


As much as a laugh riot as those creepy horror movie classic killers were to Lutz, there was something incredibly eerie about Freddy for him. So much so that it made sleeping a difficult task for the actor. Lutz, who may or may not be the Johnny Depp of the reboot, added, "But something that can attack you in your sleep, that’s scary because how do you fight that off? You're sleeping."


Awhile back, MTV News learned from the director himself, Samuel Bayer, that Kellan and his fellow dreamwalkers are fending off a Freddy Krueger who is a lot less comical than ever before. "You know, I think my Freddy is just a bit more serious," he said. "We delve into Freddy's background a little bit more. It's a very similar background to what we know about him, but... I think it's going to be a unique kind of homage to Wes's original film."

I have always been a horror movie fan since I was very young (perhaps too young) and I am thrilled they are re-making the Nightmareon Elm Street series, and even more excited to see the very sexy Kellan Lutz in it.

Freddy Krueger returns in ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street,’ a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic. A group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another… but when they sleep, there is no escape. Jackie Earle Haley stars as Krueger.

Also I am excited for Jackie Earle Haley who will be Freddy Kreuger. He is in the new hit show (filmed locally) Human Target and was Rorschach in The Watchmen and is also in Shutter Island.

Twilight Cast trying out Horror / Thriller Movies

I recently listed a number of Upcoming Projects for the cast of Twilight.

Twilight Lexicon pointed out that many of these actors are trying out Horrors and Thrillers, which pleases me as that is one of my favourite genre's of film.


Jackson Rathbone, Xavier Samuel, Nikki Reed, and Mike Welch each have projects that are coming up that are a bit edgier than the Twilight Saga.

Mandy's Mind - Probably something I would have eventually caught on late-night scary tv movie of the week. I adore Xavier and will check it out, I think he is likely the best part of this movie.

Next is Jackson Rathbone’s Dread:



Mandy's Mind - This actually looks like something I'd have seen anyways, psychological thriller, twisted, I am excited for this movie to come out end of this month.

And also Mike Welch in Unrequited:



Mandy's Mind - It's so weird seeing goofy "Mike Newton" as this crazy guy. I feel like it's a bit psychotic but will be good.

Nikki Reed, in Last Day of Summer:



Mandy's Mind - It's hard to get much from this clip, but I look forward to an actual trailer. I adore Nikki so I will check it out regardless. Also, Nikki is in Chain Letter.

Mandy's Mind - I loved Nightmare on Elm Street as a kid so this will be awesome.

If you're not a thriller fan, will you still go see these movies? I love these types of movies and am excited to see them, even more so because I will get to see my fave Twi-Cast outside of Forks.

A Nightmare on Elm Stree re-make Trailer

This looks SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!!! I really really loved Nightmare on Elm Street as a kid. I remember how scared I would get and I loved it!!!

This has Kellan Lutz in it...

But also some familiar faces including:

Kyle Gallner from Veronica Mars, Big Love and more.

Kate Cassidy from the new Melrose Place, Harper's Island, Supernatural and more

Thomas Dekker from My Sister's Keeper, Terminator Salvation (TV), Heroes and more

And I am super excited about Jackie Earle Haley who will be Freddy Kreuger. He has quite a resume already and is currently filming locally for Human Target and was Rorschach in The Watchmen. He will also be seen next year in Shutter Island, which I can't WAIT to see....

Anyways - I am psyched about this movie, and it has nothing to do with Kellan or my Twilight obsession.... and more to do with my horror and specifically Elm Street obsession.... though Kellan is an added bonus!!
