x-factor results - spoilers

If you haven't seen or don't want to know yet do not read on...More... Well - Melanie won.

Not shocked, she had the most amazing voice.... though I was rooting for Chris Rene since day one because of his performances and his story and how entertaining he is.

To be honest, Drew, Rachel and Chris were my favourites.

After waiting in line for hours to be in the audience (with tickets) and not getting in, I started to dislike the show. That and I missed seceral weeks because I was travelling.

Then Drew was sent home and I couldn't believe it.

Then Rachel's departure was devastating.

Ah well... Melanie did not even MAKE it originally, then Simon of course changed his mind and brought her back and here you go - she won!

They will all do well, apparently Rachel already signed a contract with Disney? (So said judges on Jimmy Kimmel last week)

Annnnnnyways.....

I enjoyed the celebrity guest performances with contestants. Especially Justin Bieber and Drew - she must have been absolutely DYING inside!?!?

Astro and 50 cent was good too as was Pitbull, Ne-Yo and Marcus Canty.

It was a great show - I am still bitter about not getting inside to watch it while in L.A.

@17foreverlisa and I were sooo excited, then so upset to not get in... 'tis life.

Next Year....

So - who were you rooting for? What did you think of finale?

American Idol Judge Simon Cowell is engaged

Radar Online reports:

It’s official. Simon Cowell is getting married!

Beautiful Mezhgan Hussainy told RadarOnline.com exclusively that she and Simon are officially engaged.

Until now, there have been only whispers and rumors about the couple possibly getting married -- but their plans have been a secret.

They met on American Idol several years ago and what began as friendship grew into love after Simon’s previous relationship ended.

I don't get how this news is as shocking as people are making it out to be....

Yes, Simon is mean...

...but he is mostly just honest...

he has been played up as the big evil man judgeon American Idol for years now, but when you look at the other judges... can you blame him?

We have my most favourite new addition, Ellen, who is just so sweet and funny....

Kara, who has boy-crushes and is either drunk or needs to be drunk while she fawns over or fights with contestents....

and Randy Jackson, who just kinda goes with the flow or tosses a coin on any given singer...

The show NEEDS someone like Simon.

Even when Paula Abdul was around, no, especially when Paula was around, Simon kept it real.

Harsh.

Hollywood is harsh and Simon provides a dose of reality for these kids, many of whom just don't have the chops to make it in the real world or are pre-madonna's in need of a serious wake-up call.

That is Simon's job, and he does it well.

So, because he is mean/honest and decides to marry his girlfriend the world is in shock?

I guess I don't get it...

Anyways, he is getting married... is this part of why Paula left the show? Is this part of why he is leaving the show? Will Simon criticize his fiance's dress as she walks down the aisle?

Who cares.

Congrats Simon. Don't let marriage soften you up!

Simon Cowell Leaves American Idol

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
It’s official, Simon Cowell is leaving “American Idol” to launch “The X Factor” stateside.

Simon announced the news himself at FOX’s Television Critics Association panel in Pasadena, Calif., on Monday afternoon.

Simon said the deal was reached early Monday afternoon to bring his British reality competition, which launched the career of Leona Lewis, stateside to FOX.

According to AOL TV, Simon signed the agreement on stage, which will not only bring the show over, but see Simon executive produce and judge on the show.

“I’m thrilled that we have put a date on the launch of the U.S. version of ‘The X Factor,’ and delighted to be continuing to work with FOX,” Simon said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “We have a fantastic relationship, a great team and are all very excited about this.”

“The X Factor” will launch stateside in the fall of 2011, FOX confirmed in a release.

But with his new show starting in America, it means the end of Simon’s stint on “American Idol.” Simon confirmed the ninth season of “Idol,” which begins this week on FOX, would be his last.

When asked who might replace him on “Idol,” Simon suggested show host Ryan Seacrest could do it “so he can have another job,” AOL TV reported.

Simon went on to explain the format of “The X Factor,” which is different to the way “American Idol” works.

He told reporters his show will allow people to audition beginning at age 14, but without a cut off. And, just like the British version of the show, the judges will mentor the finalists, who perform weekly, live on television.

When asked to address rumors on whether Paula Abdul might join him on the judging panel, Simon reportedly said, “I adore Paula… I miss her… You’re just going to have to watch this space.”

And while Simon may be leaving, “Idol” itself isn’t going anywhere. An executive for FOX confirmed the show has been picked up for three additional seasons after this year.
