My Comic-Con Journal: Thursday

If you missed my Tuesday & Wednesday Comic-Con Journal READ HERE

Thursday we were up bright and early to prepare for Breaking Dawn Part 1 panel. We packed everything up and they condensed the line at about 8am. There was a buzz of excitement in the air as we all moved in closer together awaiting entry into the giant Hall H.

There was a lot of media there, as there had been over the past day or two and I did a few interviews wearing my giant shades in hopes of not being easily identified by co-workers back home, ha ha!

When it was time to move, we were reminded to walk slowly, not run and let me tell you, I have never walked so quickly. We got fairly close to the front, the whole weekend is a blur, but I seem to think row7 or so... regardless, it was my first time in Hall H and I was thrilled with my seats.

We had our 3D glasses and got to watch some trailers of upcoming movies.

The rules of Hall H are that you can not take photos or video tape footage on screens. So trailers, clips, etc are not supposed to be taped. I know some people do anyways, but security seemed pretty on top of this and I didn't risk trying to capture any of the clips or trailers.

The Breaking Dawn Panel was pretty awesome. Paul McDonald, Nikki Reed's husband and American Idol alum was sitting right behind me ;)

**will update on BD2 panel content in different post later today**

The panel itself was great with a huge table of guests:

From the left: Taylor Lautner, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Mackenzie Foy, Stephenie Meyer, Peter Facinelli, Liz Reaser, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone.

I have more photos on Facebook (Search and add me: Mandy S Mind) but here is a sample:

The "new vampires" also came out at the end in what was one of the most awkwawrd moments ever... they all were introduced and came out, but then, that was it.. like no questions or anything, the moderater was like.... um... there you have them... LMAO... ah well.. Erik Odom got the largest applause, it was awesome! He is so sweet and deserves it!

after all that excitement I wanted to get to another panel, however, by the time I got there it was completely full (I think Teen Wolf was the one) so I went and joined TJ and Funmbie for Ballroom 20 pilots and panels.

It was pretty awesome we got to see Beauty & the Beast pilot and panel, Elementary pilot and panel and then I stayed for Dexter pilot and panel by myself (which was nice because as a single seat I moved right up front)

here are a few shots from Ballroom 20 that afternoon, more on facebook:

After a very long day a few of us went out for dinner and/or meetups....

That was my crazy Thursday... and with Twilight out of the way, things should have calmed down... but they didn't... us Twigals actually enjoy a lot of other shows and combined with nerd boys and geek girls from all over, the rest of Comic-Con was just as exciting, if not more....

My Comic-Con Journal: Tuesday & Wednesday

Tuesday I left my place early, forgetting only a few items. I was excited for my first ever Comic-Con, but saddened by the news of TwiFanG's passing.

When I arrived at SeaTac airport I learned my flight was fully booked and I had to wait until the next flight three hours later. At least there was free wi-fi ;)

When i finally arrived to Long Beach, my friend Amy (@OhMyCarlisle) picked me up and we were off to San Diego. Once we were arrived and settled at our Hotel (Hard Rock) we went to the Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 panel line up at the Convention Centre. Our other roomies (@Funmbie and @misstejota) were there along with @LuvsmeSumEdward and her sister.

Unfortunately, most fans were asleep or gone to their hotels for the night, but I did pass out pink glow sticks to those who were awake. It was a warm night compared to most I have experienced on camp outs (WFENYC, BD1, THG)

Wednesday, I was up early and back to the hotel after only a couple hours sleep. I showered and we went for some subway breakfast. I had planned to take advantage of the 24 hours subway, but this was the only time I ate there actually.

Back in line, most of my group went to explore, I hung out in the line and walked around to meet friends and fans in other areas of the line. It was so awesome to meet new people, put faces to twitter names and of course, see old friends again!

I have to say one of my most favourite moments of these trips, are the time I get to spend with my girlies! I never feel like I have enough time to do so.

Preview night meant getting checked in. Everyone got a giant swags bag, I got the Big Bang Theory, which was the one I wanted. I had planned to go to see the pilots preview night, but instead explored the GIANT exhibit floor. This things was so big, I mean, I knew it would be huge, but it was even larger than i ever imagined.

Here is me with my swag bag:

We went for some eats with Jen (@TwiredJen) who is very pregnant and adorable. She had made a shirt that said "Lil Nudger" which she wore ;ater that evening for our "surprise guests" in line.

Anyways, we all got in line and Summit reps came to hand out light up necklaces that said Breaking Dawn as well as glow sticks (which I also brought... ah well!) and posters. Soon we saw 30+ people walk by and we got excited. They went to the start of the line and worked their way down the lines. I assumed that with as many people as there were, the cast may split up and each take a line so we would all meet 5 or so cast... I was wrong! Almost all the cast went through and did almost every line... it was amazing and went on for over an hour!!!

I have so many photos of this. I have posted them all on facebook (Search for me: Mandy S Mind) under my comic-con album. All the new vampire covens were there, all the Cullens, Stephenie Meyer, I mean pretty much everyone except Rob, Kristen, Taylor, wolf pack and volturi!!!

Here are a few (don't mind my big red eyes, my contacts were dried out - I ended up in my glasses the rest of the weekend because of this)

Wednesday evening was Breaking Dawn Party at Hard Rock. It was awesome to see them setting up during the day. Our balcony had a great view of FLOAT the rooftop bar where many parties were hosted throughout Comic-Con.

Here is the view during set-up:

While I was not on the guestlist, many of my friends who run fansites were and had a great time. I very much enjoyed their drunk antics when they came back to our room after the party. They had a great time and I was happy for them, especially some of the awesome photos they got.

Some party highlights: Butterfingers everywhere (sponsor), Peter and Liz walking through a fire pit, drunk celebs, new vampires being flirty, great laughs, a photobooth and more.

After a crazy fun long day, it was time for a few short hours sleep before Thursday... Breaking Dawn panel to kick-off my Official comic-Con experience...

More to come!

My Comic-Con Schedule

There is so much going on at SDCC. Being my first year, I am unsure how it will all work, I have a plan and a back up plan. Sometimes I have conflicting plans, but overall I have mentally prioritized where I need to be and when.

There are also a lot of parties and events I hope to attend. To be honest, I am not sure WHEN I will sleep....

My SDCC Schedule.

I used that, along with parties and off-site events I am hoping to attend to make a spreadsheet that is colour-coded.... Yes, I am insanely over organized.

When I went to Vegas I sectioned off the map so that I could hit everything I wanted when i was in that section of the strip to avoid back-tracking or repeating sections on any given day.... mind you once I got to Vegas I drank and turned 30 and the map went out the window as we wandered aimlessly from bar to bar ha ha!

I just like to plan. I have learned (and remind my self) that I can't change, predict, or control... the things that I cannot control... but I sure as hell plan around everything I can and for anything I can't LOL

Looking forward to SDCC. I will post as much, as often, as I can.

My First Comic-Con - Plans for Wednesday & Thursday

Wednesday and Thursday Schedule came out and as a SDCC virgin, I am super psyched and a bit overwhelmed.

Wednesday Night I want to go to the screenings of some CW/WB Pilots:

-666 Park Ave
-Arrow
-The Following
-Revolution
-Cult

Then Thursday is crazy busy. The Breaking Dawn Part 2 panel doesn`t start until later in the day, so for those of you (us?) camping or waiting, it will be a long one.

I have heard rumours of things t keep line-waiters entertained, and from past practice I am sure there will be things going on.

I am learning that SDCC is all about prioritizing and having back up plans. (Thanks T.J. for the advice!)

Since I can't clone myself in the next week here, I have to make sacrifices and be happy I get to do anything....

Here are my goals Thursday:

-Breaking Dawn Part 2
-Dexter
-Disney (Oz, Frankenweenie, Wreck It) - Mainly for OZ

Then if possible / backups:

-Nikita (same time as Dexter, which is my preference, though I'd die to meet Shane West)
-Teen Wolf (same time as Disney, but only care about part of Disney's panel so may opt for Teen Wold instead)
-Expendables 2 (for my hubby)

There are tons of other things I am interested in but I am not sure how much time between and time in lines I will need or have....

Breaking Dawn Part 2 at Comic-Con - It's official!

This just arrived in my inbox *squee* We knew (guessed) as much, but official confirmation always brightens up my day....

Greetings,

We are happy to announce that THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN – PART 2 will be the opening panel in Hall H at ComicCon® International in San Diego on Thursday, July 12, 2012. Summit Entertainment will present a sneak peek at the highly anticipated conclusion of The Twilight Saga films. This is a must-see for fans interested in the story’s final chapter, who will be shown exclusive footage from THE TWILIGHT SAGA BREAKING DAWN – PART 2 and treated to a cast and filmmaker Q&A session providing details on the epic finale.

In addition to the panel, BREAKING DAWN – PART 2 will also be present at the Summit Entertainment booth on the convention floor. Those who stop by will have the chance to attend autograph signings, participate in contests and collect free giveaways all weekend long.

Twilight Comic-Con Line-Up

Comic-Con kicks off this week, and if you are one of the majority of people who are not attending, never fear, live coverage, tweets, streaming video, blogs, photos, videos and more.... will be here!

Besides the hundreds of media outlets, fan sites, fans and others who are attending, there is the massive take over of social media that will allow us to feel like we are there, while staying in our PJs watching from home.

Sure, it may not be as glorious as being there, seeing certain people in the flesh, but it's alot cheaper than hotel, airfare and trying to get tickets from the Comic-Con (EPIC FAIL THIS YEAR! - Trust, I tried... but more on that later)

Here is news on what and where to see and hear all the SDCC news as it happens....

First, who is there - - - Twilight Fans

Laura from Twilight Lexicon posted a video of the Comic-Con line so far - Tuesday evening... two days before the panel in Hall H.

Also, Twilight Lexicon, Twifans and others in line have shared some important information for anyone who is planning to "camp-out" for #TWISDCC

Important info for people looking to line up:

Chairs only! No tents allowed.
The lines have been moves under shaded party-type tents
Line is very peaceable and orderly.
Make sure you bring water, temp is good but easy to dehydrate out here.
Be nice to security and they will be nice to you.
Comic Con staff has been very nice and welcoming.

Man, I had planned to go as those who read regularily know, but had an epic fail as far as obtaining tickets... [we are talking website failures, waiting in queue for hours of resales, you name it - i tried it... and still came out empty - boo hiss]

But, there is good news - - - I still have stitches in my mouth from wisdom teeth surgery, and would NOT have planned to arrive until Wednesday afternoon, so I guess it worked out that I am not there this year, since I would be in pain and unable to camp TWO DAYS BEFORE HAND!!!

However, I do hope to attend next year, not just if Twilight has a panel (though it seems they would for Part 2 of Breaking Dawn non?) but for True Blood and numerous other "geeky" things I enjoy. Who is joining me and how can we get tickets ASAP?

I will say, this "camping" looks so much better than #WFENYC I mean, my first "camp out" for anything (other than concert tickets, back in the day before internet purchasing and such ha ha man I am dating myself) was such a horrible experience. I think FOX Films did a horrific job. The rain, the lightning, the lack of coverage, the lack of organization, the lies... the only good thing was the pizza. Even the end result was b.s. - a wristband to be caged in across the street... my girlfriend showed up an hour before the red carpet, got to meet Rob before he came over to the "cage" and even ended up with tickets to go inside - which none of the "caged" fans got, even though the FOX Rep said we would... gah! Yes I am still bitter - but at least I can laugh at the whole ordeal and shun FOX everytime I see a trailer for a new movie or show from them! BOO FOX!

Anyhow, moving on, I am thrilled at the set-up for Comic-Con "campers" especially because I know so many friends who are there or will be there.... it feels good to know they will be taken care of :)

Can't wait for tweets, photos, videos and more from SDCC this year!

SO excited for all my girls who are there - wishing them the very best of luck and success in the whole experience.... wooooo!!!

But, if youa re like me and NOT THERE - Don't fear... we will get all the goodness, albeit second hand. With twitter and live blogs and streaming video, I am thrilled that we won't even have to WAIT long to see everything the friends we are envious of for attending get to see...

MTV will have us covered (as will all the fansites and fans who are campingout and attending)

That’s right, Twilighters. MTV News is taking over Comic-Con and we’re starting with your favorite vampire romance. This Thursday at 6 p.m. ET/3 p.m. PT, we’ll kick-off our three-day “MTV News: Comic-Con Takeover” with a “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1″ livestream extravaganza, featuring a full hour of interviews and a Q&A with the cast. And, of course, we want your input! Tweet your questions to @MTVNews using the hashtag #MTVSDCC, and a bloodsucker may just chew on your query!

SEE MORE HERE

Also EW will have a similar live stream:

EW will have live streaming video from their Comic Con 2011 lounge at The neighboring Hard Rock Hotel.

They will also be covering footage backstage, in the panels, and you can tweet them your questions. Find out how by watching the video on the EW site.

Then there are the usual fansites and fans... I suggest checking twitter #sdcc #twisdcc #twilight #breakingdawn as well as @twifans @twilightlexicon @twicrackaddict @robpattznews @twilightish and the major media outlets too.

BUt next year you can check @mandysmind and here because I MUST GO!!!!
