Divergent star, Shailene Woodley, chopped her locks for an upcoming role in 'The Fault in our Stars'.

This is something near and dear to my heart. My daughter, who is currently ten years old. Has chopped and donated her hair twice already.

It started when she came with me one day to donate blood. She asked a lot of questions about why I did it and saw drawings on thank-you cards from sick kids and asked if she could help. I explained she was too young to donate blood, but that she could when she was older if she wanted.

A few months later, she asked about donating her hair. I don't know where she learned of this opportunity, but she wante

d to do it and so we went to the hair salon and chopped her hair. It grew pretty quickly and two years later, she donated it again, cutting it even shorter to ensure there was enough length to donate.

As a mother, I couldn't be more proud of her and I am excited at the publicity currently surrounding #hairforhazel

My daughter in 2010 and 2012 when she chopped her hair to donate. It's already grown to shoulder length again now.

Help a young Twilight Fan Raise Money

I got an email from a young reader I know who has a great event going on that I wanted to share with you. Besides being a massive Twilight fan she also loves Bobby Long, Sam Bradley and Marcus Foster.

The music department at my school in New West is doing a "Bandathon" event on September 25th. It's basically a 12 hour mega rehearsal event involving students from grade 8-12. With every student doing at least 3 hours of playing.

The reason I'm emailing you is because I need to raise money so I get some help paying for my final senior band trip.

I'm not asking you to donate, though you can if you want!. I thought it would be great if you could tweet about this and blog about it? I want to raise as much as I can and you have a big audience!

45% of what I raise goes into my school account and that money goes directly towards paying for my band trip. Another 45% goes to the music department at our school, and they use that to pay for instrument repairs and to pay for new instruments. Then the last 10% goes to the New Westminster Purpose Society which is a local charity.

Hope everyone had a restful weekend.

In Canada we have our long weekend so today is a holiday Monday - yipee!

This weekend I stayed home for family time, lot's of movies, lot's of blogging and a BBQ last night.

After an earth-quake in Haiti, reached 7.0 (as well as severe after shocks) in the darkness of night - the world reached out to help.

Twitter, Celebrities, everyday people like you and I, all felt the heartache of Haiti and luckily, many decided to help.

Donations of money, food, blood, everything began to come in... Now there are many ways to help, and I encourage you to do so - the fatality numbers are devestating and we can all spare a bit of time or money to help.
