DWTS 13 - Pairings

Dancing With The Stars Season 13 "stars" were announced last week and now we have the pairings...

Dancing with the Stars' thirteenth-season professional partner cast features nine professionals who have previously competed on the show: two-time mirror ball champion Mark Ballas, two-time mirror ball champion Cheryl Burke, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, Tony Dovolani, three-time mirror ball champion Derek Hough, two-time mirror ball champion Kym Johnson, Lacey Schwimmer, Karina Smirnoff, and Anna Trebunskaya.

In addition, the cast also includes three professional dancers who will be making their debut as Dancing with the Stars partners: Val Chmerkovskiy, Tristan MacManus and Peta Murgatroyd.

Dancing with the Stars 13

MacManus and Murgatroyd were both members of the "Dancing with the Stars Troupe," the new six-member dance performance group the show introduced during last spring's twelfth season, while Val Chmerkovskiy is the younger brother of veteran professional partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

The 12 celebrity participants -- which ABC announced Monday -- competing on Dancing with the Stars' thirteenth season are actor David Arquette, NBA basketball player Ron Artest, transgender advocate Chaz Bono, model and George Clooney ex-girlfriend Elisabetta Canalis, former The Hills star Kristin Cavallari, legal commentator Nancy Grace, Keeping Up with the Kardashians sibling Rob Kardashian, fashion expert and former Queer Eye star Carson Kressley, former talk show host Ricki Lake, Iraqi war veteran and All My Children soap star J.R. Martinez, singer and actress Chynna Phillips, and American women's soccer star Hope Solo.

Ballas will be partnered with Cavallari. He previously won Dancing with the Stars' sixth season with Kristi Yamaguchi, eighth edition with Shawn Johnson, and is returning for his ninth season.

Burke will compete with Kardashian. She previously won Dancing with the Stars' second edition with Drew Lachey, third season with Emmitt Smith, and is returning for her twelfth season.

Maksim Chmerkovskiy, who is participating in his eleventh season, will be partnered with Solo.

Dovolani, who is back for his twelfth season, will dance with Phillips.

Hough -- who missed last spring's edition to film Cobu 3-D, an upcoming danced-themed movie that will represent his feature film debut -- will be partnered with Lake and participating in his eighth Dancing with the Stars edition. He previously won Dancing with the Stars' seventh season with Brooke Burke, tenth season with Nicole Scherzinger, and eleventh season with Jennifer Grey.

Johnson will be competing with Arquette and participating in her tenth season. She won Dancing with the Stars' ninth season with Donny Osmond and last spring's twelfth edition with Hines Ward.

Schwimmer, a former So You Think You Can Dance contestant, will be participating in her fifth Dancing with the Stars season and compete with Bono.

Smirnoff, who is back for her tenth season, will be partnered with Martinez.

Trebunskaya, who is participating in her eighth season, will dance with Kressley.

MacManus will be paired with Grace, while Murgatroyd will dance with Artest and Val Chmerkovskiy will be partnered with Canalis.

Dancing with the Stars' thirteenth season will premiere Monday, September 19 at 8PM ET/PT with a two-hour broadcast.

All 12 celebrities will perform a Viennese waltz or cha cha routine with their professional partner during the premiere, and the couple with the lowest combination of the judges' scores and home viewer votes will be eliminated on the following night's results show.

Kristen Stewart at Resistence 3 PS3 Game Launch in London

'Twilight' star Kristen Stewart - who is filming 'Snow White' [and the Huntsman] in London - braved her way through it and came out the other side looking suitably frightened, while Theo Hutchcraft from pop group Hurts came through looking relatively calm and collected...

VMAN features Taylor Lautner

On being part of the Twilight world:

“It was really helpful that all of us were going through the same thing at the same time,” he said. “I think if we didn’t have that sort of relationship it would have been tough. It would have felt pretty lonely. Because when you’re filming for these ‘Breaking Dawn’ movies—we were filming for seven months—and if you’re there alone the whole time, even with the cast members, like on a day off, or on weekends, you’d go nuts.”

On getting to see the world:

“I hadn’t explored much besides Michigan and California,” he said of his pre-”Twilight” years. Obviously, that’s changed. But he also points out that promoting the films doesn’t leave much time for local exploring: “When I’m traveling the world promoting the films, I say I am on vacation, but its not really true, I guess—because when I go to a beautiful city I spend the whole time in a hotel room and then I’m back on a plane to the next place.”

Marcus Foster Video 'I Was Broken' features Kristen Stewart

<a href='http://video.msn.com?vid=2e3fd9ff-87ef-410c-b40b-b01e5613f334&mkt=en-gb&src=FLPl:embed::uuids' target='_new' title='MSN Exclusive: Marcus Foster - I Was Broken' >Video: MSN Exclusive: Marcus Foster - I Was Broken</a>

Marcus has such a unique and captivating sound. I love it! This video is quite emotional, but Kristen Stewart looks absolutely stunning in it!

MSN has exclusively released Marcus Foster's music video for "I Was Broken" featuring Kristen Stewart. The new single will be released on September 19th from the album "Nameless Path".

Arguably this song was made famous due to a cover version online that Rob Pattinson sang - together now with Kristen's involvement, I'm sure Marcus' music will get a bit of a bump

Robert Pattinson gives homeless man a guitar

Heart Warming Story...

The FABLife’s super crush on Robert Pattinson got a little stronger today with this news of his sweet deed on the streets of LA. As R-Patz strolled down the sidewalk, he noticed a homeless street musician playing a busted up acoustic guitar. After putting some cash into the man’s collection cup, Rob, a well known music lover, ventured into a nearby music shop. A few minutes later he emerged carrying an electric guitar for himself, and a brand new six string which he handed to the street musician.

The random act of kindness was witnessed by two British tourists. “Robert quickly went back to his car and drove off,” one told Britain’s Sun newspaper. “We were gobsmacked when he handed the acoustic guitar to the tramp.” So was the musician, who couldn’t quite believe that this all was for real. “”The busker was totally shell-shocked. He had no idea who Robert was. I think he thought the guitar was stolen.” If this story of The Vamp and the Tramp doesn’t warm your heart, then check your pulse because you might be legally dead. Yes, like a vampire.

SYTYCD Canada Top 8 Results

I watched last night's performance show today, since I was at the movies last night and missed it... I didn't do a blog or power rank or anything, my faves remain Jordan, Melissa and Shane.... Tonight was results...

Tonight was emotional.... I have to go through the results as they happened so you can fully understand the rollercoaster my brain went through.....

The night opened with a Sean Cheesman choreographed routine to Madonna's "Vogue"

It was fun and sexy, I liked the voguing/tutting portion and the end with the chairs the best.

**Spoilers**

More... What was frustrating about tonight was that all the dancers did their solo's, even though Leah was clear that it wouldn't change the results as in the Top 10 it was all votes. I felt with only a half hour show it was really lame. They all came out, were sent back, did solo's, came back out for results.... Can you say time wasting?

Anyways, the results were as follows:
Denitsa
Sent home. No surprise here to be honest, I am shocked she lasted this long

Christian
Jean-Marc said he was "joining Denitsa, but not right now" lame. Needless to say he stays and was on the floor ecstatic.

Jordan
Tre asked her to "leave the stage.... to dance next week" Another lame psych-out, they really annoy me to be honest, especially poorly executed ones. Jordan was in tears!

Adam
Sent home. I wasn't too shocked, I feel he comes across too cocky - him and his abs ha ha

Matt
Jean-Marc pointed out that he had never been in the bottom 3 but there was a first time for everything.... but not tonight - utter shock.... He stays over Shane? wait... HUH?

Lindsay
Is going to finale... over Melissa? wait... WHAT?

So I am raging... literally angry at Canada that Shane and Melissa aren't in the finale when Jean-Marc announces the finale will not be Top 4..... but Top 6......

HAPPY DANCE!
I swear if Melissa and Shane had actually been sent home I would rage, boycott, freak! Besides Jordan those are my favourite two dancers!

Anyways, to make it clear....

Denitsa and Adam went home.

The rest go on to the Top 6 Finale, which is fine because to be honest, I didn't know they planned to narrow it to a top 4 tonight... I don't think they even know what they are doing half the time to be honest ha ha!

So... for the comments:
- Thoughts on who went home?
- Thoughts on the finale 6 vs finale 4 decisions?
- Thoughts on the Vogue routine?
- Thoughts on the "psyc-out" judges do on SYTYCD repeatedly?

Hunger Games Director Gary Ross discusses Teaser

MTV has an exclusive interview with Hunger Games director Gary Ross on location filming in North Carolina via Skype!

Katniss Vision
Suzanne Collins’ novel is a first-person tale, and it’s clear from the teaser Ross is striving to capture that same sort of immediate access into Katniss’ head. “I think one of the most important things when you adapt a book like this is to give people the experience they really had when they read it — the same kind of visceral experience they had,” he explained. “I think [the reason] everybody felt so strongly in what Suzanne did was that they were with this character, they understood her, they were in her shoes, they were in her head. It was such an intense first-person experience. My job in making a film is first and foremost to reflect that.

“How do we get inside Katniss’ head? How do we feel what she’s feeling? How do we become her?” Ross continued. “The first thing that allows you to do that is Jennifer Lawrence, because she’s such an unbelievable actor. She has so much depth and power and talent and sophistication and sensitivity and subtly that she’s become Katniss Everdeen synonymously. I hope people feel about Jen and Katniss at the end of this three-book cycle the way they feel about Daniel Radcliffe and Harry Potter — that they’ve become very, synonymous with one another.”

Gale’s Voiceover
That voiceover you hear during the trailer? That’s Katniss’ District 12 pal Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth). And Ross has a very specific idea in mind about the importance of making Gale a part of this initial footage (and not Katniss’ Hunger Games companion, Peeta Mellark).

“As everyone knows, Gale is an enormous part of Katniss’ life, but he’s not as big a part of the first book as he is the subsequent books,” the director told us. “I think he’s very, very present and he’s tremendously important, but of course we shift into the Capitol and then the arena, where Peeta ends up playing a more prominent role. But he’s in her head, he’s in her life, he’s something that echoes with her throughout the games, as any reader of the book knows, so he plays an obviously prominent role.”

The Difficulty of the Shoot
Though Ross and his team didn’t have to contend with giant fireballs in the woods, as Katniss does in the first look, the filmmaker revealed that the set in the North Carolina forest posed quite a challenge to the production. “This was like shooting in Vietnam,” he said. “I felt like I was making ‘Apocalypse Now.’ The thing was so rigorous. We spent something like six weeks outside in the jungle every day, hiking up and down mountains with cameras and in the mud and in driving rain storms. We all felt it, but nobody felt it as much as Jen did. It’s been an intense physical experience for her.”

Just Getting Started
While Ross was proud to show off this initial footage, he told us this is only the beginning and that there are a few scenes and characters in particular that he can’t wait for people to see in the future. “We’re still shooting, so unfortunately, it’s just a teaser,” he said. “We could only give you a little bit, because we’re still down here making the movie. I’ve got to leave in half an hour and shoot. But there’s a lot of things to come that I think are going to be hugely epic and very emotional and incredibly powerful. I think that we’ve done wonderful things with the mutts. I think that we’ve done a tremendous job bringing the Capitol to life, and I think that’s going to be really, really exciting for people to see. And all the performances! Wait till you see Stanley Tucci do Caesar Flickerman.”

Crazy Stupid Love

I finally saw Crazy, Stupid, Love..........

Easy review is:

-Needs more Ryan Gosling
-Needs more Emma Stone
-I predicted the twist
-Funny overall
-Steve Carrall can be cute
-Julianne Moore is still hot
-The kid is awesome

Want more? Spoilers coming.... More...

So I predicted the twist, which is that Emma Stone is Julianne Moore and Steve Carrall's daughter. I guessed because the women are both pale red heads who are hot!

I did not predict that Marisa Tomei's character was the teacher, that was a hilarious twist.

I thought the kid was amazing. He was a great actor and fully pulled the movie along in all the right moments.

The babysitter was a whore ha ha

The story is this, for those who are under a rock...

Wife and Husband divorce, wife slept with co-worker, husband is depressed, husband meets stud, stud helps husband get girls, babysitter crushes on husband, kid crushes on babysitter, older daughter has random subplot of becoming a lawyer with a loser boyfriend and getting hit on by stud, loser boyfriend acts like more of a loser so she leaves him for stud, stud falls in love with her and goes to meet her parents which are... husband and wife. Meanwhile babysitters parents discover her nude photos for husband, husband is trying to fix relationship with wife and wife's co-worker whos he slept with shows up - - - all in the same yard, boys wrestling fight begins, cops come, funny moment.

In the end the kid's hopeless romantic side brings everyone back together and they all live happily ever after - the end

make sense?

go see it - Ryan is hot!

My Review on One Day

Let me start by saying, for once, I did not read the novel first.

I wish I had.

My preception of what this story was about - were all wrong, or perhaps the movie got the novel all wrong? But either way, I am not a huge fan of this movie and I will tell you why... but in doing so there may be spoilers so read on only if you are ok with spoilers.... You have been warned.

So, the movie jumps to July 15 every year over the course of several years to show the relationship between Emma and Dex (Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess)

I liked the actors and characters. I thought Anne's accent was fine, and the friend I was with is FROM London and made no comments on it, though I didn't ask her either.

The idea is good, and I hope to read the novel as I hear it portrays the story much better.... but the two meet at the end of university and almost hook-up.... but become life-long friends anyways.

We jump through the years, via text on the screen informing us of the year, and learn of how they have grown, changed, and so on. Emma has some odd jobs and struggles to discover who she wants to be, eventually becoming a teacher and children's writer. Dex does some cheap tv party show (think MTV TRL or worse) and then gets lost in drugs and alcohol. Both go through moments of wanting each other, then not, as well as entertaining other relationships, all which are unsuccessful to varying degrees.

They share some special moments and are clearly connected and destined to be together, despite the twists and turns life throws at them.

Here is the big spoiler....

They finally get together, and are happy... except can't seem to have a baby..... then she goes swimming and while riding her bike home

BAM

Gets killed.

So here I am in the theatre, waiting for a make-up session and discovery they CAN have babies or adopt but instead I get her dying!

Traumatized.Bawling.Horrific.

But it doesn't end!

Dex goes on to fight and ruin his life further and it all ends unresolved.

There is a flashback to what we missed in the early years, which makes me sadder.

I hate this movie.

I am still bawling as the credits role and I have no clue what to make of this whole thing.

I wish I read the book first.

I wish I knew what to expect.

Maybe, though not likely because I heard it's a poor adaptation of the novel, I may have enjoyed it more.... meh!

Hunger Games Teaser Trailer from MTV VMAs

Jennifer Lawrence introduced the clip and while I was disappointed we did not get more, it IS still filming, it IS just a teaser, and it WAS more than we would get from other production studios this early on *ahem*

Director Gary Ross told MTV:

The teaser comes to a close as Katniss indeed shows how good she is: arrow meeting flaming target. But all this is just a taste of what’s to come, as director Gary Ross told MTV News earlier this week. “We’re still shooting, so unfortunately it’s just a teaser. We could only give you a little bit because we’re still down here making the movie,” he said. “But there’s a lot of things to come that I think are going to be hugely epic and very emotional and incredibly powerful.”

Here is the clip:

I loved the landscape, I loved seeing Katniss' emotion as well as her amazing archery skills. The voice (of Gale?) was nice too, though seeing him and Peeta would have made it better (obviously) There is speculation that Rue's 4 note song is heard at the end (about 1 minute mark) though some complained it was X-filesy and not part of the trailer just MTV's thing - I guess we will soon find out. I like it as Rue's tune...

I want more... but I will be patient, well, as patient as possible...

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEee

Thoughts?

Taylor Lautner at VMAs

Taylor Lautner looked great tonight at the MTV VMAs. He was there promoting his new movie Abduction which looks absolutely amaze!

Here is a recent still from the movie:

On the carpet:

A Very Potter Threequel from Star Kid INCLUDING Darren Criss

As busy as Darren Criss is, he still has time to get back to his roots. Star Kid Cast is planning A Very Potter Threequel, much to fans delight!
When asked about a third musical at San Diego Comic-Con one month ago, Joey Richter told fans that they had an “amazing” script but were waiting to see if Darren Criss would be available for it.

In the past month it seems Criss was able to find time in between Glee and How To Succeed to reunite with the StarKid cast.

Hunger Games Trailer at MTV Awards Tonight

On show night, Jennifer Lawrence will be introducing the first look. Afterward, we’ll be bringing you an exclusive online-video commentary from “Hunger Games” director Gary Ross, who will lend insight into the footage and answer some burning questions we have about the adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ best-selling young adult novel.

I can't view this because MTV hates Canada but if you can see it - enjoy:

The Help Movie vs Book

I recently read The Help by Kathryn Stockett and on Thursday I saw the movie. Like every novel turned book there are differences, but overall the movie stuck to the story. There are a few changes that upset me and some areas that I was really excited to see on the big screen.

Since this comparison and review may contain spoilers... do not read on unless you want to be spoiled, or have read/seen The Help..

I really liked most of the casting.

I am a huge Emma Stone fan and thought she did a decent job at playing Skeeter Phelan. I feel Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis were amazing as Minnie and Aibilenn. While Jessica Chastain's Ceilia Foote was not exactly how I pictured, she played the role so well and it worked. Little Mae Mobley (played by twins) was adorable and brought tears to my eyes. Cicely Tyson was NOT my version of Constatine but by the end of the movie I was pleased with her. Sissy Spacek was a hilarious Missus Walters. A shocker was Henry the Waiter played by True Blood's Nelsan Ellis. Other minor characters I enjoyed were Leslie Jordan as Mr. Blackly the news editor and Mary Steenburgen as Ms. Stein.

Some changes from novel to movie:

-Constantine's daughter Rachel was black in the movie. In the novel she is white and the whole scandal and what happened to Constantine was changed and to me less effective. It seemed rushed and in the novel it was drawn out and quite the kept-secret.

-Skeeter's mom, while cast well, was not portrayed well. The novel has her hiding her illness at first (though it doesn't bother me that the movie has her sick from the start) what bothers me is that she wasn't nearly as prim, perfect and hard on Skeeter as in the novel. I didn't mind the major change that had her stand up for Skeeter to Hilly, but it just wasn't a realistic adaptation.

-Mae Mobley was adorable! In the novel her mom is far worse than in the movie, and during potty training Aibileen "shows her" how to use the potty, by going out to her bathroom. Then Mae Mobley learns, by using Aibileen's bathroom. This is an important part in the plot I think. Using Aibileen's potty and the significance of that act was important and not used in the movie. On the other hand, Mae Mobley does take a tee-tee on one of the toilets left in Hilly's yard ha ha. A funny touch.

-Speaking of the toilets, the movie didn't show who brought all the toilets, perhaps we are to assume the general public actually donated that many toilets? Either way.

-In the movie the book is scandalous, it doesn't show just how dangerous it is and the consequences if the maids were discovered. There wasn't nearly enough "firing" and other "consquences" in the movie as in the book.

-Treelore is not described as much, nor his death's influence on Aibileen, though it is touched on a bit.

-In the novel Treelore's friend gets beaten and goes blind. This was not included in the movie at all, another example of how the severity and dangers from that era were not fully shown in the movie.

-Bryce Dallas Howard was amazing as Hilly. She captivated the mean-girl persona to a tee, but the movie did not allow her to show another side of HIlly's character. She was a good friend and a very good mom. I think this was a script flaw not an actresses. Bryce was perfect!

-The ending seemed to wrap up nicely. The novel was very much left open... no telling what was next...

So what did you think? Any other changes I missed? What worked? What didn't? Leave your thoughts below!
