#MagicMike Review - Advanced Screening

Where to start.... Magic Mike...
The Good:
-Channing Tatum
-The dancing and stripping
-The relationships that develop
-most the dialogue and jokes
-Channing Tatum
-Joe Manganiello
-Alex Pettyfer
-Kevin Nash
-Matthew McConaghey
-Channing Tatum
The Bad:
-too much talking and plot and clothes on scenes
-the lead girl was horrible. She mastered the bitch face but her dialogue was stiff and her laugh annoying and forced.
-some storylines / goals weren't achieved and I would have liked to see them wrap up more successfully - maybe a sequel? ha ha!
Overall it is amazing....,
The group dances and Channing Tatum aka Magic Mike's dance routines are so good. Of course he WAS a stripper and IS a dancer and so it is to be expected. The others were good and Alex pettyfer made me LOL as he was the new "kid" learning.
Some favourite scenes:
-Matthew McConaghey training Alex Pettyfer to grind, and rotate and then STICK IT
-Channing's moves - not just because I am me and he is he, but legit - some awesome moves!
-The themed dances. From safari to medical to combat to rain gear, to individual costumes such as Tarzan and firemen, I seriously couldn't get enough of it. I am not usually one of THOSE girls, but good lawrd I was tonight! Those men are mmmm mmmm mmmm
-the amusement park. Everything about that scene slayed me. Alex interupting his sister and Channing, the two guys grinding the bench and umbrella as the sister walks away - seriously funny shit!
-initiation of Alex Pettyfer's character. Kevin Nash gets him working fast ha ha "massage it in"
-hurricaine party
-Breakfast Food Lover scene (Channing comes in and says to Alex's sister "so i hear you like breakfast food" and she gets all bitchy "he must be drunk, I don't fucing cook" or something like that, to which Channing's character says "we were going to go to IHOP but you just stay here breakfast hater" or something like that - it becomes their "thing" the whole movie ha ha)
-"my wife has great breasts, touch em" "I love you man"
Some uncomfortable scenes:
-drugs
-barf
-the sister's scenes, when she had to talk
-Joanna
Gah, I am still taking it in... I will add more... I had a few too many at the premiere party after the movie - we all got free appies and drinks and Magic Mike swag... so fun!
There is another screening on Wednesday and a midnight release Thursday then my "Girls and Gays Night" Friday (we are doing cocktails and then going to see Magic Mike.
Man, I COULD see it 4 times this week... maybe... heh heh

Magic Mike Premiere Details
June 29 I will be at my local theatre to see Magic Mike starring the very sexy Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer, Matthew McConaughey and more, get down and dirty as male strippers.
This movie is based loosely on Chan's real life before he was an actor, and all I can say is "DAMN, WHY DIDN'T I GO SEE MALE STRIPPERS IN FLORIDA!?!??!"
Good golly, I remember when the video of Channing came out from his previous career....
Anyways, my friends, who are awesome and know of my
Magic Mike‘, which the Playlist says “is a big crowd-pleaser — for the ladies and dudes”, will have its world premiere as the closing-night film at the Los Angeles Film Festival on June 24th. Individual tickets will go on sale on May 29th, but you can CLICK HERE to buy a pass to the festival.
So if you want to go either fork out money for the LAFF pass, or wait for the individual ticket sale May 29.
If you go I insist you tell ALL tell him Mandy in Vancouver says hi, he won't remember me, but I don't care, I met him 5 times in 3 glorious days in March and he held my hand and said my name and *sigh*
Let me know if you go!!!

Channing Tatum.... SNL, The Vow Premiere

Love Channing Tatum.... and his wife Jenna Dewan, though I am incredibly jealous of her....
Heading to NYC for the Feb, 4 weekend to try and see Channing Tatum at SNL.
I may or may not stop in LA on my way home to try and go to 'The Vow' premiere... that movie is going to be amazing.
Why the sudden "fly around the world for Channing?"
I am glad you ask, besides being crazy.... clearly.... I realized I travel SO MUCH for Twilight, and to be honest, Channing is "my Rob"
Yes, I love Channing more than Rob, he is #1 on my list... followed by Ryan Gosling, in case you care... my Freebie list - the list of men I can freely adore ad obsess over without criticism from my husband... well... he criticizes, but ya....
So, with Channing's big year - I decided to try to meet him - finally
If I fail at SNL and possibly The Vow Premiere, I still have GI Joe, Magic Mike, 21 Jump Street (so far) this year... he wasn't at the AFI screening of Haywire in November (sad) but this is the year of Channing - I will meet that man... *sigh* Wish me Luck ;)

Channing Tatum in 2012
Channing Tatum....
I adore that man on so many levels, though mostly physically... rawr!
I have never met him.... I hae always wanted to... and this has become my mission... I have heard he is so sweet, fan-friendly and I really want to just MEET him!!!
Who wouldn't... hello?!?!
Anyways, he has a number of movies coming up this year and so even if I do not get to meet him in the flesh, at least I will have plenty of him on the big screen...
January 20 is Haywire
I saw this at the surprise screening in L.A. for the AFI Festival. Loved the action, Gina Carano is awesome, Michael Arangano is hilarious, Ewan McGregor is perfect and Channing is hot hot hot...
Feb. 10 is The Vow.
‘The Vow‘ is based on the real-life love story of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter who were married in 1993. Two months after their marriage, the couple’s car was hit from behind by a truck, leaving Krickitt in a coma and with amnesia after coming out of the coma. They later chronicled their story in a book called “The Vow: The Kim and Krickitt Carpenter Story‘.
The trailer makes me cry....
The poster I do not love, Chan looks way to femm.

I loved this show in the 80s... I mean, I was a kid, but FUN FACT I was IN 21 Jump Street... as an extra... I m et Johnny Depp before he was "the Johnny Depp" in fact, back then it was Richard Greico that was all the buzz ha ha.... anyhow, I really almost flew down to Louisiana to try and meet Channing during filming... but didn't... sigh
June 29 is GI Joe 2
Originally scheduled for an August release it is now moved to June 2012. This frustrates me because it means comic-con will not have a panel on it.... I am hopeful, however, that Channing will have more projects coming out post-comic-con that force him to be there for some kind of panel... I need to meet this man....
Also upcoming projects he is tied to that are in various stages (from rumoured to pre-production to post-production) include:
December 2011 Ten Year
Love and Honor
June 2012 Magic Mike
2013 Foxcatcher
Also his production company is connected to projects ‘Ion‘, ‘The Contortionists Handbook‘, ‘What’s Left of Us‘ and ‘11 Minutes’
Time will tell - but there better be a movie that makes him go do a panel at Comic-Con... and/or come out for dinner and drinks with me ;)
