Conan O'Brien for the win

The early numbers are in, and all signs point to Conan O’Brien handily beating both David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel.

Preliminary Nielsen ratings indicate that O’Brien crushed the competition in his final hour hosting “The Tonight Show,” having nabbed a 7.0 rating compared to a 2.5 rating for “Late Show with David Letterman” and a (2.8 for “Nightline” and) 1.3 for “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Granted, this is all TV mumbo jumbo and the final numbers won’t be in until later this week, but trust Gossip Cop, O’Brien went out BIG.

In other O’Brien news, Perez Hilton recently reported, “sources reveal exclusively to us that O’Brien has hired a crisis management company in Los Angeles,” an agency named Sitrick and Company, to thwart “the bad publicity affecting his career.” Perez snarkily added, “Good luck with that.”

You are NEVER going to believe this: Perez is wrong.

O’Brien never hired a crisis management team. The carrot-topped comedian still has one PR agency handling ALL of his publicity.

To sum up this post: O’Brien — big winner, Perez – loser.

Late Night Talk Show Drama

ABC News reports:

NBC confirmed it will yank the comic's 10 p.m. nightly hour once the Winter Olympics begin, and it hopes he will accept a half-hour version of his show at his old time -- 11:35 p.m. -- instead.

NBC has spoken to Leno, Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Fallon about moving their shows to later start times, Gaspin said. Under the proposal, O'Brien, the man who replaced Leno as host of "The Tonight Show," would move to 12:05 a.m., and Fallon to 1:05 a.m.

"My goal right now is to keep Jay, Conan and Jimmy as part of our late-night lineup," Gaspin said. "As much as I would like to tell you we have a done deal, we know that's not true. The talks are still ongoing."

NBC said its stars were given the weekend to think about it. The network doesn't know whether O'Brien will accept a half-hour demotion or bolt to another network.

"What we're hearing from inside the Conan camp is they're kind of 50-50 right now with what they're going to do," said Mike Schneider, TV editor for Variety. "I mean, this obviously is a big smack in the face."

Last week, amid a firestorm of speculation that NBC might can O'Brien altogether, the network released a statement this week declaring its loyalty to the late-night comic.

"We remain committed to keeping Conan O'Brien on NBC," the network said in a statement Thursday evening. "He is a valued part of our late-night lineup, as he has been for more than 16 years, and is one of the most respected entertainers on television."

It remains to be seen if O'Brien will stay with the network that made him a star of if he'll fly the coop. He could potentially move his schtick to a competing network or leave the late-night game altogether. According to The Wall Street Journal, O'Brien is exploring his options with Fox.

Of course all the jokes on the talkshows surrounded this issue and it was quite amusing to see them all poke fun at the situation.

I really enjoyed this interview. It was lengthier and although it did have some similarities to the zillion interviews he's done over the past few weeks, there was some new, funny, stuff that made it enjoyable. I loved the video o fhim as a kid and the grapes and the twi-mom's and the Brazillian girls ha ha ha.... Enjoy!

I had PVR'd it so before I watched it I heard the buzz about how great it was, and it was great, though from the buzz I was expecting more, still, it was one of her better interviews, she looked stunning and came across very likable and endearing.... way to go Kristen.... totally adorable!

Seriously, Kristen has improved with interviews so much. Obviously with practice comes perfection but I love that her dad addresses her not finishing sentences (like we can read her mind and know what she is thinking about saying?!?!) and that she says she can relate to fans stuttering over what to say..... and her lil stick figure on her hand.... she looks fab, she addresses questions well and it just lovabale.... good job girl!
