Based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series, first published in 1941, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” features an outstanding supporting cast that includes Sebastian Stan (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Black Swan”) as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie (“The Hurt Locker,” “Million Dollar Baby”) as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Cobie Smulders (“Marvel’s The Avengers,” “How I Met Your Mother”) as Agent Maria Hill, Frank Grillo (“Zero Dark Thirty”) as Brock Rumlow and Georges St-Pierre (“Death Warrior”) as Georges Batroc. The film, which shattered both domestic and international box office records, is Disney’s highest-grossing global and domestic release of all time and marks the studio’s fifth film to gross more than $1 billion worldwide.
In the summer of 2011, Marvel successfully launched two new franchises with “Thor,” starring Chris Hemsworth, and “Captain America: The First Avenger,” starring Chris Evans. Both films opened #1 at the box office and have grossed over $800 million worldwide combined. In 2010 “Iron Man 2,” starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury took the #1 spot in its first weekend with a domestic box office gross of $128.1 million.
In the summer of 2008, Marvel produced the summer blockbuster movies “Iron Man” and “The Incredible Hulk.” “Iron Man,” in which Robert Downey Jr. originally dons the Super Hero’s powerful armor and stars alongside co-stars Terrence Howard, Jeff Bridges, Shaun Toub and Gwyneth Paltrow, was released May 2, 2008, and was an immediate box office success. Garnering the number one position for two weeks in a row, the film brought in over $100 million in its opening weekend. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Casting Rumours

If you’ve seen the Swedish thriller “The Girl Who Played with Fire,” then you know why Stieg Larsson’s best-selling trilogy is a global phenomenon. His first book, “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” started the stampede, and introduced the pierced, tattooed, hacker heroine Lisbeth Salander.

The Swedish film version of “Tattoo” (starring Noomi Rapace) is now on DVD, released to coincide with “Fire” on the big screen and the U.S. hardcover publication of the concluding novel, “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest.”

Speculation is rampant on who will play Salander in the imminent Hollywood version directed by David Fincher (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Panic Room”).

Here are our odds for the actresses rumored in the running to star opposite Daniel Craig.

Kristen Stewart: 100 to 1. The “Twilight” star would top any poll of fan favorites but she recently told David Letterman she’s taken herself out of contention.

Iron Man 2 - My Review

I saw this Friday (opening night) with a group of friends in IMAX. It was a great night, Eclipse posters up, Eclipse IMAX Trailer on the big screen, then Iron Man 2 - which I did a review for here.

I Loved Robert Downey Jr !! He reprised his role as Tony Stark and had the perfect charisma, attitude, sexiness. Something about his as Tony Stark is friggin' hot!

I am not a huge fan of Gwyneth Paltrow, though she used to be awesome in recent years she hasn't impressed me much. In the first Iron Man I really enjoyed the banter between her character, Pepper Potts and RDJ's Tony Stark and this movie it was even better. She had more of a role in this movie and I didn't hate her.

Scarlett Johansson was looking hot. She was a bit random and I was confused on if she was really an important role or not but she was pretty to look at. She had a few great lines but mostly just filled the "hot girl" quota for the flick (Because let's face it, that will never be Gwenyth Paltrow's job)

Mickey Rourke was absolutely AMAZING as Ivan Vanko in this movie. I was thoroughly impressed, he exuded the perfect amount of evil, malice and confidence to completely creep me out in a good way. He was haunting and it was fantastic!

Sam Rockwell as Mr. Justin Hammer was an annoying, but entertaining character. I think he is supposed to be annoying, so mission accomplished. The same goes for Garry Shandling as Senator Stern - though there is a great court scene thwt I enjoyed and laughed fairly hard at, that was entirely Robret Downey Jr.

Samuel L Jackson is always kick-ass and I enjoyed him as Nick Fury, though the story didn't feel developed enough and since I don't follow comic books I was wanting a bit more explanation on him and Natalie Rushman / Natasha Romanoff.

Seeing Don Cheadle instead of Terrence Howard was an adjustment, I tend to get attached to actors as characters in series and HATE casting changes, but I adapted quickly. Loved seeing "War Machine" especially when Iron Man & him have a lover's spat.

Even as a non-comic book geek/follower I could see the potential of upcoming movies (Avengers - 2012) it was exciting. I advise those who haven't seen it to wait until after the credits, like with the first movie, for a brief but telling clip.

So to summarize:

Good - RDJ, overall Casting, chemistry of characters, action sequences, dialouge

Bad - too many subplots that non-comic book fans may not fully appreciate, random time wasters that could be better used, flow (middle was a bit slow at times)

Overall - GO SEE IT IN IMAX
