September TV Time - Fall Premieres

** UPDATED **

Well, I went to set my PVR (DVR) tonight for the week and I just about died at how many shows conflict!

What did we do before DVRs? I know I used to have a vcr tape in one room and another in the other if two shows were on at the same time. Now, I have EST c hannels and PST so if more than 2 shows are on at 8pm I can record two at 8pm EST (5pm here) then the other(s) at 8pm PST.

My DVR can only record two at once. There is one I could get that does three at once, but my husband says that is "pushing it" ha ha

Anyways, this week brings back some favourite shows as well as some new shows.

What I hate about new shows is that few last. I will record and get really into them only to have them cancelled. My new "technique" is to let several episodes build up before watching. Though I did that with Combat Hospital and I still haven't seen a single episode. Off the Map was similar I finally watched half the season a week ago! The Event... same thing!

Anyways, here is what my PVR looks like this week, don't judge!

Monday

DWTS - New season starts, I actually care less about this show each week. I really want to but it is a lot of time to watch and after a summer of non-stop SYTYCD (The obviously better dance show) I am not sure how much I can committ. I will likely start watching Tuesday only with the highlights and results. We will see. Plus, I do not see any "stars" this season - I mean really?

Hells Kitchen - Finale. I am pulling for Will at this point.

Two and a Half Men - Ashton takes over for Charlie Sheen - this will be interesting. My husband claims he won't watch now that Charlie is gone, yet asked to make sure all my "crap" didn't interupt taping it ha ha. FUNNY PHOTO.

The Sing-Off - More singing shows. I always at least give it a chance.

Hawaii Five-O - I gave up on this a while ago because I was just too busy, but I want to watch.

2 Broke Girls - This looks hilare and is short and sweet.

Playboy Club - Looks good!

Roast of Charlie Sheen - Can't wait to watch this ha ha oh Charlie Sheen you are fucking cray-cray!

Starting soon also Gossip Girl which I LOVE!

90210 - Was disappointed with the opening last week but I am loyal since the 90s so I will stick it out.

NCIS - A Show much husband and I both enjoy, often he more than me.

RINGER - SMG returns, excited about this new show.

Unforgettable - Love Poppy and this look really really good.

Body of Proof - I missed a ton last season and the series record is still up so we will see.

Glee - obviously a must-watch every week!

Camelot - Really loving this mini-series despite some criticism.

New Girl - This looks so awesome I love Zooey so hard!

Wednesday

the Kennedys - I want to watch, but I keep missing it.

Survivor - Looks like a good season with Ozzy and Coach returning as well as some interesting new characters.

X Factor - Simon and Paula are BACK YESSS!

Criminal Minds - Prentis sure didn't "die" for long eh?

CSI - Ted Danson joins the cast? Yes Please!

Reven8e - This looks super awesome, i know so little about it except a girl got screwed over and returns to the town to seek revenge - bad ass!

Animation - I watch this with my husband, Simpsons, Family guy etc. he is more into it than i am but I blog as it is on in the background usually... good laughs.

Desperate Housewives - I haven't watched the most recent series but seeing as this is the last one I want to watch, but feel like I need to catch up or something.

Pan Am - This looks awesome! Christina Ricci for the win

Survivor

Another season began and we had two familiar faces. The Dragon Slayer Coach and Ozzy return, as well as Russell Hantz nephew, though he will not reveal that, as long as his shirt stays on since his last name is tattoo's TWICE on his body (back and shoulder) This season will be good, I am already interested, which i a good sign because after so many years/seasons I tend to tune out.

Reality TV Updates - Feb 2011

Lot's starting soon, and some ending soon... here are my updates and thoughts on Everything Reality TV... My last post had details on my overall thoughts for all the shows.

The Bachelor

I still see Brad as Mr. Zero Personality... and can see him with Emily if she opens up. My fave is Chantal and I want her to NOT be chosen so she can be the next Bachelorette - she is hot, fun, emotional, quirky and would make a great Bachelorette season! Thoughts?

I was SO SO SO SO SO Glad Michelle FINALLY went home! She is insane and I have no idea how or why he kept her for so long!

As I said last time Michelle is crazy, Shawntal is pretty rad, Emily is sweet but Chantal is my fave.


Jersey Shore

Finally, no more Sammi & Ronnie... I HATE them together.. it was awesome seeing Sammi out with Deena and Ronnie and Pauly walk by and Sammi is all "he's with a girl" (not even close) so she goes all ho-bag... Those two are dangerously volatile and I hope they stay apart.

American Idol

I skipped a bumnch of auditions (they are still on PVR but I simply don't have time to watch them all) but I did watch Hollywood episode one and was sad to see a few faves go home already, but relieved to see a few annoying singers go home. Honestly - before the live shows I don't care much if I miss a few shows.

Amazing Race

I haven't watched in a few seasons, partly due to time/day and partly due to lack of interest... but all of the "past favourites" return this season and so I am excited to check it out.

DWTS & SYTYCD

THey need to plan it so we are never with out a dance show... and the new one with Paula Abdul doesn't count!

Other Gossip:

Will Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul work together again? THey have talked about it, but who knows if/when it will happen.

Jersey Shore's Ronnie not on 4th season? Because of assault charges (during filming of first season) he may not be able to get a VISA to go to Italy for filming of the 4th season. His pre-trial is scheduled for March 7th but "Any person applying for a Visa to Italy must have their case fully adjudicated." Honestly, I'd rather have him there than Sammi.... but as long as they aren't BOTH there I will be happy.

Reality TV Updates - Jan 2011

It has been a while since I did some reality tv updates. It seems pretty slow right now anyways...

The Bachelor

Brad has zero personality. He agrees with the ladies or repeats what they say in the form of a question and it drives me nuts. I don't get why he is back. I mean YES he brought a therapist to remind everyone he was "damaged" and is now "working on being fixed" and that is not my issue - my issue is that he is boring, albeit pretty to look at, he has very little going on upstairs it seems.

I really like Emily and at first wanted to see her as the next Bachelorette. But then I realized she is kind of dull... sweet, but boring. So I would like to see boring Brad and boring Emily live happily ever after.

Next Bachelorette - - - Chantal O - - - I really like her and she has so much more to her than Emily and would be more fun to see as a Bachelorette. Non?

Shawntel is also interesting. As his choice or as a Bachelorette. Thought to be honest, I wouldn't be upset if she left. And why is Ashley H still there? gah she annoys me...

I would like to see Crazy Michelle admitted into a crazy home... she is scary nuts... like TMZ should be following her because that's a tabloid waiting to explode right there!

Jersey Shore

Well, same old same old, drinking, clubbing, GTL, fights, drunks, blah blah, a train wreck but I can't stop myself from watching. I hate Sammi... I am so glad Ronnie and her are done (again) she is just - blah!

I think it is HILARIOUS that they are planning to go to Italy for the next season. Even funnier is that Italy is pissed they are coming ha ha

American Idol

New Season, New hosts. I am loving the chemistry and the change up with Steven Tyler, J Lo and Randy. I am NOT loving the emotional rollercoaster they take me on every episode. The sad stories make me bawl... I am liking that (at least it seems that) they are showing less crappy singers and focussing more on good singers and their sad stories ha! I am behind a couple episodes but during auditions I tend to wait and then watch a few at a time.

Apparently AI is apologizing for Steven Tyler's behaviour Not sure if it is a joke or if he has done something outrageous in the past couple episodes. I know he is a big flirt, busts out in song and is charasmatic... for me that is enough to keep him around ;)

Survivor - Redemption Island

Russell Hantz & Boston Rob Mariano return AGAIN to Survivor. Redemption Island will have those voted off by their tribe go to isolation until the next castaway is voted there. Then the 2 will fight in some challenge sending one home and one left... untilt he next castawa is voted off and so on. At some point who ever is on redemption island having beat other castaways in challenges, gets to return to the main island... oooh! Nice Twist. Furthermore, you will have arch nemisis' Rob vs. Russell. CAN NOT WAIT!

I am a massive Russell Fan.... I loved Rob too but I am rooting for Russell all the way! Feb 16th baby!

America's Next Top Model

New season starts it's 16th season Feb. 23. I predict a ghetto black teen who perpetuates the bad image of black women (though every season I wonder how and why Tyra Banks allows it), the tom boy skinny girl who thinks she is ugly and goes far in the competition, the rich girl who gets by on her looks, and of course at least three girls who bicker and fight non-stop... let's not forget the ones that bawl when they have to cut their hair *sigh*

Here is the cast list. Lot's of unemployed girls and/or students, or waitresses... awesome. Yet I am sure I will watch.. especially now that I got a PVR expander... ha!

DWTS

Rumour is that Derek Hough will skip next season since he will be filming Cobu 3-D. That is great for him, and honestly, probably good for the other dancers and contestents since he tends to dominate the wins ;)

SYTYCD Auditions

Next season's auditions have started and continue this month. Also Mary Murphy will be back to judge. I always love this show... can't wait to meet the dancers.

Other Gossip:

Bachelor(ette) contestents Peyton and Chris are dating. I like Peyton and I LOVE Chris (was so happy Ali rejected him, I am not an Ali fan and thought he'd be better off without her). I had hoped he would be the Bachelor, but he turned it down and it's a good thing. He has been dating Peyton since last Fall (she was on Bachelor Pad and Baldwin's season) I think they are adorable and hope to hear they make it!! Chris is amazing!!!

Reality TV Update December 2

It has been a while since I did this - real life has had me caught up.

DWTS:

I know it is over but I was glad that Jennifer won and not Bristol. I was also glad Brandy went home. I would have liked Kyle to win, but really Jennifer was the best and deserved it.

ANTM:

Last Night's finale was good. I liked them both but was hoping Ann would win, she was the ugly duckling who blossomed...

Survivor:

It's had it's ups and downs for me this season. I was upset Brenda was sent home last elimination, I liked her and the "team" she had going. She was pretty awesome from the get go. I am so sick of Naonka running her mouth constantly. She is a PE Teacher? Where? I was not upset to see her go and Kelly quitting as well? WTF? Good Riddance you wimpy quitters! I would never go on Survivor, I know I couldn't handle it, but these guys wanted to go on, they got on and they QUIT???

Holly often gets on my nerves but she showed she is a class act last night.

As for a fave....

I love Chase but Sash has potential too. Benry is the prettiest boy left in my opinion. I don't know just yet...

Skating with the Stars:

I have not watched, even though I planned on it. Real Life has just been too hectic

The Apprentice:

I had been rooting for the Canadian but was glad to see her go. I really want Lisa to go. She always says things in the boardroom and private interviews but as a group during tasks she is silent. It is ridiculous! I love Brandy and Clint is awesome too. I will be happy to see them in the finale. I liked Steuart also but he was too immature at times.

Hells Kitchen:

Last Night no one went home. At this point (and for a few weeks) I have been thinking Nona should win. I am still clueless how Trev is still there. Russell is just a dink. One of the ladies should win. I really was rooting for Jillian but then she started to get crappy... then she improved again! It was awesome seeing their families!

Reality TV RULES!

Survivor Opening

Another season of Survivor started tonight. The two tribes are young vs old.... I think young will last longer, but this will examine a few things in Survivor... wise knowledge vs young lack there of.... young strong bucks vs old fading bodies... of course there are weak youngsters and strong older players.... but we will soon see which traits are better... will the youngsters fight amongst themselves?

Tonight's episode was a good start...

Love first impressions. I do it also. Judge on looks, first words... it`s always interesting.

Jimmy JOhnson is an NFL coach and besides that I think it's just random people...

Medallion of power was interesting. I would have taken fire and gear only because I am incapable of camping without the basic functions and tools.

The one - legged girl is awesome but it sucks they all wanted to get rid of her from get go because of "sympathy vote"

I don't know if there is anything that exciting to draw me in this season except some cute boys and the fact that I am addicted to everything reality tv, even the terrible.

If you did not watch, you did not miss much but the young won immunity and the old tribe went to tribal council and argued about leadership and first impressions... ultimately they voted to send home Wendy Jo the chatter box goat girl ha ha

I am kind of dreading watching this each week but I am sure (hopeful) it will get more interesting...

Reality TV Updates & Finale Updates for other great shows.

It's been a few weeks and a few finale's so allow me to update.

Survivor

First of all, I have been Team Russell since last season. He should have won it last season and he or Pavarti should have won it thise season, preferably him. The people playing the "All-Stars" should have been more willing to recognize and vote for Russel because o fhis mad-skillz. I am tired of the "boo-hoo play nice" speeches - Survivor people - SURVIVOR! He always wins America's choice - he would fair better in a show where American votes - but as mentioned on the reunion show, that is not how Survivor is based. Sandra was the only one I did NOT want to win and she did and it sucks. I really have no interest in Survivor anymore. 20 seasons and I am fed up with seeing great players lose.

America's Next Top Model

I wasn't happy with the finalists but by the finale it was clear Kristen would win. She was winning all the top photos and all the competitions and although I think she is way too skinny, she did look good with her extensions / slick back and I think she will do well in the business.

American Idol

Finale this week. I am Team Lee DeWyze. Originally I was torn between Casey and Crystal with Mike as 3rd place but at some point, and I am not even sure when, Lee took the lead. Now between him and Crystal I would much rather see him win - he has what "idol" needs. Crystal is a great artist but she isn't an "idol" she will be the kind of idol that you never reall yhear about because she goes indie with her very uniqe sound. Lee has what it takes to make it big and has the sound the world craves.

DWTS

I wasn't surprised to See Ochocinco go home, in fact I was surprised he was still around. I want Evan to win and if not, Erin. NOT NICOLE! She is a pussycat doll, she has been dancing with other girls, chairs and poles for years. She is a dancer. Not a contestent. Just my opinion but I'd hate to see her win. YES she is good - but not what this show is about - I would rather see growth!

Celebrity Apprentice

Finale tonight - I think Holly will win but I'd rather see Bret win. No comment until I watch it then I will edit this post to reflect the results. I was too hooked on Lost Finale to watch Celebrity Apprentice yet.

Amazing Race

I was happy with results though I barely kept track after Jeff & Jordan went home. I still think I'd love to go on that show with my friend - her and I would rock - we are both judgemental, innovative, creative, sweet talkers who would be everyone's archnemisis. People would love to hate us and we'd manipulate our way to win... or get drunk and laugh trying.

Fresh Meat II

I have three episodes on my PVR, it's an MTV Show no one really watches but it was filmed locally and is based off of a Road Rules Challenge kind of idea. Lot's of drama - I am still anti-Wes though I don't like Kenny either and they are the "two leaders" from what I last saw - again - I am pretty far behind so we shall see what's progressed when I catch up this week.

OTHER SHOW FINALES

Grey's Anatomy

I was so tired from going out with some girlfriends to see the late showing of "Letters to Juliet" and when I got home my PVR didn't tape Grey's *gasp* my long time friend and ex-roomie hooked me up with a website to see streaming video and tv and I was able to watch Grey's *phew* I immediately woke up and was alert the entire adrenaline pumping episode. The first 5 minutes had me hooked and my heart was racing with anticipation the entire 2 hours. I bawled the last half hour at least and feared the worst the entire viewing. I am anxious for next season and although I think I bawled more last season and also more Private Practive Finale last week - this one was definately a cry-fest.

Private Practice

Dell is my favourite character, and he just got into Med School and Betsy, his daughter just lost her crack-whore momma. When he had his talk with Betsy about "bad things" I was bawling and hoping it was just a precautionary measure and he would be fine. When he wasn't - I lost it - for long after the show was over. Even now I am sad just remembering.

Lost

After years of confusion tonight's episode left me still confused. Although when I explained it to someone else, somehow it made sense.

Reality TV Updates - March 21-26, 2010

Here are my thoughts on this week's reality television shows that I follow...

Amazing Race

I still haven't watched the episode. I was spoiled on twitter that Jeff & Jordan go home and honestly, I have no intereste to watch it anytime soon.... in fact, I almost don't want to watch at all. I grew very little attachment to anyone but them. In fact, I hadn't watched the past couple seasons as I felt burned out from the whole show, the big brother pair were the only reason I decided to tune in again and give it a try. I am sure I will get to it, we shall see, my Sunday line-up is pretty full, I may cut it out all together til the finale.

Dancing with the Stars

I have never watched a whole season of this. This will be my first. My first impression... they use the term "stars" very loosely....

Though I caught a few episodes here and there of paste seasons, for some reason I never stayed hooked. Like Amazing Race took Big Brother fan faves and put them on the show, DWTS took Jake, the most recent Bachelor and made him a dancing contestent... way to cross-over reality tv with reality tv eh?

I love Jake's dancer Chelsie from SYTYCD and I am also interested to see how Octo-mom Kate Gosselin does, she irritates me beyond belief. No elimination til next week, but I predict Chad Ochocinco and/or Buzz Aldrin would be first to go due to poor dancing.. then again, the show is based on votes right? So really, it doesn't matter how you dance if you have fans ha ha

I really like Evan Lysacek and predict he will do well because he has athleticism and also because he is a USA fave after bringing home a gold medal at the recent Vancouver Winter Olympics. Niecy Nash is annoying but I LOVE her outlook for big women and hope she sticks around long enough to keep spreading that message!

Time will tell, one dance can't convince me either way on any dancer.

American Idol

Finally, Paige went home! If she hadn't I would have stopped watching otherwise.... she should have gone home 2 weeks ago in my opinion!

There are a few more who need to be weeded out so we can get to the winners. My opinions have changed from auditions, to first few weeks to now.

A few greats have gone and a few not.so.rgeats remain.... Lee and Didi hadn't stood out early on but do now to me. Andrew Garcia was a fave in auditions and is less so now.

I still love Casey... and Siobhan is surprising me.

It's still hard to call... after seeing who America sent home too soon it's impossible to call a winner, but I love Casey and Siobhan at this stage.... Katie to go next.... then maybe Tim... or vice versa.

America's Next Top Model

This show is so annoying. Ren was the only half-decent, non-drama girl and she is gone... sucks she succumbed to the house drama.... those girls are ANNOYING! Next week look interesting.... I feel like I did the first weeks of American Idol, let's fast forward a few weeks and weed out the crap.

Alasia has GOT to go OMG and Angelea and Brenda - - - kick them out.... from who is left I do like Simone though I find her awkwardly pagenty and Raina I keep changing my mind on.... it's too early still, and the editing on this show makes me mad.... for example, I loved Naduah - then, in one episode they made her go from nice, disadcantaged, trauma girl to total pathological liar.... *sigh* impossible to judge these "characters" when editing only shows us pieces and all at once....

Survivor

Russell vs Boston Rob... wow! That was intense, I loved how Rob had a plan (get Russell to flush out idol), then Russell guessed how it could go and counter-acted (get Tyson out), then Rob thought of what he would do if he were Russell and counter-acted (try to get Rob's allie out since Rob had idol), then Russell counter-acted even THAT (convincing Tyson to vote differently so it wasn't a three-vote tie)!

Russell is the MAN! He GAVE away his idol (which will impress "moral-ridden" Coach as well as Pavarti who was saved by the idol) and because of Tyson's vote for Pavarti instead of Russell, Russell was saved and Tyson left... GENIUS!

Russell really is the best ever! He should have won last season and he should win this season, though I don't think he will as everyone will be out to get him!

This season is tough... all my faves from past seasons (Colby, Rupert, Russell, Boston Rob, JT etc) are back and I am seeing different sides of them (Angry Rupert, Lazy Colby, Snakey JT, etc) it's strange.

I am deffo rooting for Russell #1... though I still adore JT, he did win already so - whateva.... and Rob... well... meh.. Amber got it before, he also got Amber, 'nuff of a win right?

I am so thrilled to see this blog, I agree wholeheartedly, and also felt that the jury was simply bitter. Russell should have won and will forever go down as the best player in history!!!! Be sure to check out Season 20 Heroes vs. Villains with returning castaways. (See my prediction here)

Okay, now that the show is officially over I’m going to take off my hosting and producing hat and just give you my personal reaction to what went down last night.

I think Russell was the victim of a jury of bitter people. I am not taking anything away from Natalie, she clearly did a great job of reading the group dynamic of the jury and as a result she deserves the money.

Oftentimes on Survivor, the vote does come down to a choice where a determining factor is “how nice someone is” but that’s usually when all other criteria being considered is equal. That doesn’t hold up this season. This season was so lopsided in terms of one person (Russell) completely dominating the game that to not give him the money and the title is a bit silly.

If I were playing Survivor, no matter how much I despised someone, if they kicked my ass in the game I would give it to them. Period. Outwit. Outplay. Nobody outwitted or outplayed Russell. Not even close.
I was a bit surprised at Erik’s nod to Natalie during the final tribal council. I think he certainly helped Natalie and definitely hurt Russell. I also think that when Erik watches this season again in a few years he will regret not giving his vote to Russell. Erik is the kind of guy who I thought would respect a player like Russell. I think Erik was still smarting from the whole Galu disaster.

I do not believe the jury voted for Natalie, I believe the jury voted against Russell.

Russell was clearly upset last night and I think a lot of people understand why that would be. He played a very risky and creative game and he wanted to be acknowledged. As for the audience, they spoke quite loudly when they awarded him the $100,000 from Sprint by an overwhelming 46% Russell to 10% Shambo… and 7% Natalie. Not even close. I put myself in that same group. Again, I’m speaking as a fan, not as a host or a producer.

But hey this is how it goes, it’s why Survivor is so fun to watch, you can never predict the outcome. So…

A FEW QUESTIONS…
Q. Can you be considered the greatest player ever if you don’t win? Hmmm. It’s a tough question for me. On one hand, it’s a no-brainer, absolutely not. Survivor is a social game and to win you have to vote people out in a way that compels them to return and vote for you to win the game. It’s extremely complicated and Russell did not achieve it, therefore he cannot be considered the greatest player to ever play. On the other hand, I can’t think of anybody who has ever played a game like Russell played. It was so dominating that I am still shaking my head that he didn’t win. The only guy I could even see having the talent and guts to do something equally dominating would be Boston Rob. So I am on the fence on this one. But this much I am certain of – Russell is without any question ONE of the greats. No doubt about it.

Q. Did Natalie play a better game than Russell? For me, that’s a bit easier to answer. I do not think that Natalie played a better game, but rather was the right person in the right position who made one very good strategic move and that was to stay out of Russell’s way, and as a result she ended up with the money. But to be fair – a very good counter argument is that Natalie used her strengths, avoided her weaknesses and by taking this active approach to the game, she put herself in position to win the money and it paid off. It’s a counter argument, but not one that I’m that fond of supporting.

Q. Was this a great season or a lame season? For me, this is another easy question. Survivor: Samoa will rank as one of my favorite seasons and for one reason: Russell Hantz. He single handedly kept this show interesting week after week after week. But I know some will argue that because it was “The Russell Season” it lacked having more big characters and therefore does not rank as high. This is one that will be debated by Survivor fans for years to come.

LIFE GOES ON AND SO DOES SURVIVOR
I hope you’re all jazzed about Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains. I think you are going to really enjoy it! We have an all-star cast returning. A lot of people you will expect and want to see and a couple of surprise choices that may leave you scratching your head, which we love, by the way.

Survivor Finale Season 19

I was randomly assigned to Russell a week before Survivor began. At work we have a Survivor Pool and if Russell won I would be $100 richer...

He was THE BEST player this season EVER !!!!

Natalie should NOT have won.... I am VERY disappointed but, it IS just a game.

I am thrilled Russell won fan favourite, to me that is more meaningful than the results of a bunch of bitter losers on the jury.

I am even more thrilled about the preview for Season 20.

February 11, 2010, Survivor Season 20 will premier. It will be HEROES vs. VILLAINS and feature returning castaways separated onto 2 teams.

Here are 10 past castaways I predict (or hope) will be on Season 20:
