Rolling Stone: Philip Seymour Hoffman

Phillip Seymour Hoffman

At the beginning of this month, Philip Seymour Hoffman had two films in the can — Anton Corbijn's thriller A Man Wanted and the crime drama God's Pocket — and plans to appear in the next two Hunger Games films. He was preparing to star in a Showtime series, Happyish, and to direct Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal in Ezekiel Moss. He was primed to launch into the next phase of his already-brilliant career. "He wanted to be done with playing the sad-sack loser, the guy who's jerking off," his close friend, the playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis, says.

But all those plans went to dust on Sunday, February 2nd. That morning, Mimi O'Donnell, Hoffman's longtime partner and mother of their three children, texted David Bar Katz, another one of Hoffman's playwright friends, because the actor hadn't shown up to pick up their kids. Katz went to Hoffman's temporary apartment, where he'd been living for a few months after falling off the wagon, two blocks away from his family's home. That's where he found a generation's most brilliant actor — dead in the bathroom, a needle in his left arm.

Glee will deal with drug abuse during Cory Montieth's tribute episode

According to Hypable:
At their Television Critics Association panel today in Los Angeles, Fox confirmed that Glee season 5′s Cory Monteith tribute episode will focus on drug abuse.

While he did not confirm whether or not the Finn character will die due to a drug-related incident, Fox president Kevin Reilly told reporters that Glee season 5 will “deal directly with the drug abuse.”
Glee fans had speculated this would be the case for two reasons. For one, the show has never taken on the subject of drugs like they have gay marriage, school shootings, and other hot button topics. Two, Monteith died of an overdose of heroin and alcohol
Following Monteith’s death, Fox pushed the season 5 premiere of Glee back one week to Thursday, September 26. The first two episodes will be Beatles-centric tributes. Episode 3 will be the Finn/Monteith tribute.

R.I.P Cory Monteith

Cory Monteith, Vancouver actor, who played Finn on Glee, was found dead today in a Vancouver hotel. He had checked in on July 6, and was scheduled to check-out today, however, when he did not, hotel staff checked on him and called emergency vehicles who declared him deceased when they arrived on the scene. No further details have been released. All news sources have the story currently and Cory's past struggles with substance abuse starting in his early teens have been mentioned, along with his stay in rehab earlier this year. It is suggested that he O.D'd, however, this has not been confirmed. His autopsy is scheduled for Monday, with results coming back in a few weeks. I am sure it will continue to make news as his family, friends, cast mates, and fans mourn this very tragic loss.

I am feeling absolutely shocked and devastated. I met Cory in July 2010 outside a Gastown resturant. He was very friendly, kind, chatted with my friend and I for a bit after taking some photos. I remember thinking he was so nice and genuine.

He was one of those actors Canadians, like myself, were proud to call "our own" Growing up locally, working as a greeter at Walmart, then, making it big on Glee. The little Canadian boy that made it big... I can't believe he is gone.

I wish his family and friends peace in this difficult time.

Twilight Saga Wolf, Kiowa Gordon arrested on alcohol and drug related charges

I was camping when I got the tweet from a friend about Kiowa |Gordon's arrest. I wasn't entirely shocked, which is why she sent it to me, we had just had a conversation about him and Bronson a few days earlier.

Anyhow, Kiowa has been released.

August 11, 2011

Twilight actor Kiowa Gordon has been released from an Arizona jail after being arrested for having outstanding warrants.

The Arizona Republic reports the 21-year-old actor posted $1,000 bail to get out of Maricopa County jail on Wednesday. Gordon was arrested Monday after a routine license plate check turned up previous warrants for failure to appear in Phoenix area courts on a misdemeanor drunken driving and drug charge.

The Native American actor grew up in Arizona and is a member of the Hualapai tribe.

Gordon played Wolf Pack member Embry Call in the highly successful Twilight vampire movie series.

I am actually more shocked it was Kiowa in trouble than if it had been another wolf pack member, Bronson for example. Bronson seems to be the wild one, he had the bathroom incident at a convention and has been seen pretty intoxicated in the past. Kiowa, on the otherhand, less so. Though certainly not innocent!

Also, Kiowa was cast because he went to church with Stephenie Meyer correct? Maybe I am making judgements here but usally them church folk don't go up and get arrested for drug and alcohol related charges" Just Sayin'

Oceanup posted this:

Dakota Fanning, 5'3", is ecstatic that she is finally able to wear a size zero clothes without having them taken in. Dakota told V Magazine [Via Star]: 'Now that I'm getting older, I'm finally getting to the point where I can fit into those things.'

On playing a sexy wild child rocker with girl-on-girl kissing and coke snorting in The Runaways: 'I really enjoyed doing that subject matter for the first time in a biopic, because it really happened, it's not just a made-up story about a 15-year-old running wild. It's a true story of her evolution from good Valley Girl to bad rock 'n roll princess.'

On kissing Kristen Stewart for the film: 'It's passionate, they were just as close as two could get.' On the cocaine: 'It's actually crushed B vitamins. Kristen and I were, like, our hair is gonna grow a lot from these.'
