SYTYCD Canada - Top 20 Performance Show

I posted this originally for PURE SYTYCD

Tonight was the Top performance show and I have compiled a list of the dancers, choreographers, music and a few thoughts.

I will power rank them at the end of this post - feel free to comment with your own thoughts.

Judges Tonight: Jean-Marc, Tre Armstrong, Rex Harrington, Mary Murphy.

Rodrigo & Lauren
Hip Hip - Luther Brown
"Look at me Now" Look At Me Now (feat. Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes) - Look At Me Now (feat. Lil Wayne & Busta Rhymes) - Single - Chris Brown (ft. Lil' Wayne & Busta Rhymes)

I really enjoyed this routine. We learned Rodrigo had an injury last week, as he walked on stage to do his solo/dance for his life he actually fell and hurt his neck. He had a minor concussion. He is better now and they two danced really well. It is kind of an awkward song for dance, but Luther choreographed it well and I thought they did a fantastic job.

Christian & Lindsay
Contemporary - Blake McGrath
"1+1" 1+1 - 4 - Beyonce

This was one of my favourites of the night. It was emotional and deep. It was about the importance of touch in relationships and was very sensual. I usually love Blake's routines and this was no different.

JP & Denitsa
Jive - Danny Arbour (Past contenstent)
"Blue Suede Shoes" Blue Suede Shoes - The Essential Elvis Presley (Remastered) - Elvis Presley

This was a fast moving edurance dance. I thought they both did very well and was impressed to see Danny back choreographing for the show. It was in the middle for me tonight.

Carlena & Boneless
Dancehall - Jaeblaze
"Star Bwoy" Star Bwoy - Star Bwoy Riddim - Mavado

This was fun and had a good vibe. I am not sur ehow I feel about Carlena yet, some days I love her, others I just remember her crap-attitude and unfortunately it really puts that dark cloud over everything she does. Amazing dancer, yes, and hopefully that will continue to shine and cast away the bad attitude I remember. Overall this dance had the swagga' it needed.

Kevin & Teya
Viennese Waltz - Pierre Allaire
"Good to You" Good To You (Featuring Kate Voegele) - Masterpiece Theatre - Marianas Trench

This was my least favourite dance of the night. It was slow, dull, boring and they really did not have a strong grasp of the steps. Granted, it is supposed to be a calm dance, but they didn't glide across the dance floor - they kind of stumbled. It wasn't horrific, and I couldn't do any better, but it just didn't entertain me. I predict this will be inthe bottom 3.

Geisha & Francois
Hip Hop - Tucker Barkley
"Roman's Revenge" Roman's Revenge (feat. Lil Wayne) - Roman's Revenge (feat. Lil Wayne) - Single - Nicki Minaj (ft. Lil' Wayne)

I enjoyed this routine. The costumes were a bit strange, but the choreo was good and they delivered it well. Compared to the rest of the night, it was about middle rating, but entertaining and fun!

Adam & Yulia
Samba - Gustavo Vargas
"Samba" Samba - Beats Around The Bush - Ganga Giri

This was really really fast. I think Yulia did better than Adam, but together it seemed a little chaotic, frantic and just off. Granted, it was fast, but it went from "fast - wow!" to "fast - what?" and I predict they may end up in the bottom three.

Melissa & Shane
Contemporary - Sabrina Matthews
"This Year's Love" This Years Love - White Ladder - David Gray

This was amazing! Sabrina Matthews always choreographs such amazing pieces and this one was about a friend helping another friend through HIV AIDS. The topic was emotional, but these two dancers nailed it. THey brought raw emotion and amazing lifts, I was in tears! The judges agreed and got quite emotional connecting the dance to experiences of loved ones lost from AIDS. One of my favourites of the night!

Shelaina & Matt
Hustle - Maria Torres
"Melody of Love" (Wanna Be Loved) Melody of Love (Wanna Be Loved) - Endless Summer - Donna Summer

I usually like Maria Torres' work and was excited to see a Hustle, but was disappointed. I do not know enough about the genre to say if it was the choreo or the dancing or just the song, but it was really slow and felt almost like it had to be choreographed at half time or something. I was bored besides a few nice lifts and spins. I think it may put them in the bottom three.

Jordan & Joey
Jazz - Sean Cheesman
"That's Life" That's Life - Nothing But the Best - The Frank Sinatra Collection (Remastered) - Frank Sinatra

By far my favourite of the night! This dance was athletic, comedic, completely in sync and absolutely fantastic! Judges called these two a power couple and I couldn't agree more. Jordan was an early favourite for me in auditions and tonight I think she quickly became Canada's favourite! The two of them nailed the facial expressions, comedic moments, dance moves and chemistry! The story was a first date at the movies and the boy wants a kiss and tries to get one... it was so funny - once I find it I will post it for those of you who don't get CTV to watch... really fantastic!

With that said here are my rankings for the night - please comment if you agree or disagree.

Top 3:

-Jordan & Joey
-Melissa & Shane
-Christian & Lindsay

Middle 4:

-Rodrigo & Lauren (almost top 3)
-JP & Denitsa
-Geisha & Francois
-Carlena & Boneless

Bottom 3:
-Adam & Yulia
-Shelaina & Matt
-Kevin & Teya

We will see if I am right, it is sad because the bottom 3 couples are not necessarily my least favourite dancers, they just didn't pull through tonight for some reason.

What do you think?
Stay Tuned for Results tomorrow, Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at 8pm Local time on CTV. I will post the results here tomorrow night.

Random Comment: Am I the only one who dislikes Leah Miller? I know I always say it, but she is way too young to have that much botox! Her outfit tonight was so strange! An orange skirt that went up her back and a purple long sleeved shirt that was tied up to show her upper torso? I wish Cat Deely could do our show here too ;)

SYTYCD (USA) All_Stars Return to dance with Top 10

As our SYTYCD Canada goes from Top 22 to Top 20, our SYTYCD USA has become Top 10 and will now pair up with All-Stars of past seasons. I love this!

Alex Wong was recently injured again and will therefore NOT be one of the All-Stars. Sad!

Here are the returning dancers:

Melody (s1)
Allison (s2)
Pasha (s3)
Twitch (s4)
Comfort (s4)
Chelsie (s4)
Brandon (s5)
Kathryn (s6)
Robert (s7)

I am so excited. I wonder who the 10th will be since Alex Wong can no longer join them?

This week will be great - I love seeing my faves return. I am especially a fan of Chelsie Hightower and of course Twitch! but Comfort, RObert, Brandon, Pasha, all of them are great!

Skating with the Stars - Celebrities Announced

Reality World reports:

ABC has announced The Real Housewives of New York City and Bethenny's Getting Married? star Bethenny Frankel, Olympic gold-medal skier Jonny Moseley, All My Children star Rebecca Budig, Disney Channel star Brandon Mychal Smith, film actress Sean Young, and rocker Vince Neil will compete on the new Dancing with the Stars-like celebrity competition the network will premiere on November 22.

Similar to Dancing with the Stars, Skating with the Stars will pair a celebrity and world-class ice skater who will perform live and receive scores from a panel of expert judges. Like Dancing with the Stars, the judges' scores will then be combined with home viewer votes and one couple will be eliminated each week during the show's six-episode run.

They then go on to explain HOW the "celebs" are "famous"

Although Frankel is the cast's only current reality star, Budig and Neil also have reality ties.

Budig is the ex-wife of former The Bachelor star Bob Guiney, whom she met while hosting ABC Family rebroadcasts of the ABC reality dating show. Neil was part of original season of The Surreal Life which aired on The WB network in 2003.

Seems it is more like DWTS than they let on - - - "has been" and "never heard of" celebs...

still, I anticipate tuning in - - - I am a glutton for punishment.

Will you?

Adechike is eliminated to the goodbye song: Black Gold‘s “Shine” – from their album Rush.

I predicted he would go home, lets be honest, everyone did.... I think its between Lauren and Kent at this point... both rock.. and I do love Robert, but he will place 3rd I think.

SYTYCD Season 7 Top 4

Tonight we see who goes into the finale... before that I wanted to respond to last night's performance show - whatta show it was!

Group number choreographed by Tyce Diorio to “The Crapshooter’s Dance” – from Guys and Dolls.

I really enjoyed this, it's really interesting having one female left - she automatically stands out.

Dancer: Lauren Froderman
All-Star: Pasha Kovalev
Style: Tango
Choreographer: Miriam and Leonardo
Song: Astor Piazolla’s “Oblivion” –

Wow! This was hot! I laughed at Lauren's "it really akes two to tango" comments. I enjoyed the chemistry between the two.

Dancer: Adechike Torbert
All-Star: Lauren Gottlieb
Style: African jazz
Choreographer: Sean Cheesman
Song: Ralph MacDonald’s “The Pain,”

Adechike is starting to shine for me, it's too little too late, but I am glad now that he made Top 4 (Last week I thought Billy should have, even Jose but whatever) I love Sean Cheesman - period! So this piece was really entertaining. I agreed with most of the judges, though I felt they were trying to FORCE America to get rid of Ade ha.

Dancer: Robert Roldan
All-Star: Anya Garnis
Style: Viennese Waltz
Choreographer: Jonathan Roberts
Song: Anouk’s “Lost” –

RObert ROcks, that is all there is to it!

Dance: Kent Boyd
All-Star: Courtney Galliano
Style: Disco
Choreographer: Doreana Sanchez (of course)
Song: David Guetta and Kelly Rowland’s “When Love Takes Over” –

Kent is so amazing, I love Robert and Lauren but I think Kent will win. Courtney and disco just works, I remember her doing it in her season and she just has that bounce.... her fist rolls were spot on (not that I know ANYTHING about technical dancing, t just LOOKED great!) Kent wasn't fantastic, but disco is tough

Dancer: Lauren Froderman
All-Star: Ade Obayami
Style: Jazz
Choreographer: Sean Cheesman
Song: Kosheen’s “Hide U” –

Ade is so stunning, his movements are just perfect. I was never a huge fan of him in his season but I know a few of my friends were and I am finally seeing why - stunning! Lauren was fantastic and again, I adore Sean Cheesman so this was just great for me.

Dancer: Adechike Torbert
All-Star: Kathryn McCormick
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Desmond Richardson and Dwight Rhoden
Song: Melissa Etheridge’s “Fearless Love” –

This for me was good but again, I feel like he is definately NOT in the top 2 and kind of glazed over it and watched from the kitchen as I made a sandwich ha

Dancer: Robert Roldan
All-Star: Dominic Sandoval
Style: Hip hop
Choreographer: Nappytabs
Song: Basement Jazz ft. Kelis, Meleka and Chipmunk’s “Scars” –

SO NOT normal hip hop - very deranged, but enjoyable, pure entertainment! Loved how Dominic kind of got added to the tour LoL Robert is so stunning, I think he will be successful regardless

Dancer: Kent Boyd
All-Star: Neil Haskell
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Travis Wall
Song: DeVotchka’s “How It Ends” –

Kent and Neil - together, goosebumps, even remembering last night! Their baseball routine was fantastic, and last night's routine - even better! Travis Wall is truly amazing, a genius, and the routine was choreographed beautifully and performed wonderfully - it was amazing! It felt almost like a gay love story - especially with Prop 8 being overturned. ha ha! Either wa - beautiful!

It's really been a rollercoaster of a season. With so many injuries and up's and down's.

My guess is Ade will go home, then Robert. Lauren and Kent will be final two with Kent winning.

Thoughts?

Loving Kent.

Dancer: Robert Roldan
All-Star: Kathryn McCormick

Choreographer: Contemporary
Song: Katie Thompson’s “Heaven Is a Place on Earth”

Love the song, Love Robert, so emotional

Jose’s solo: Rjd2’s “Giant Squid”

He is getting so amazing

Dancer: Adechike Torbert
All-Star: Courtney Galliano
Style: Jazz
Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
Song: Gizzy Gillespe’s “Manteca”

I love Courtney as an all-star.

Lauren’s solo: Aretha Franklin’s “You Make Me Feel Like a Natural Woman”

Lauren is amazing! Great song choice!

Dancer: Jose Ruiz
All-Star: Comfort Fedoke
Style: Hip-hop
Choreographer: Marty Kudelka and Dana Wilson
Song: Otis Redding “Try a Little Tenderness” –

I thought he had swagga - Mia is way too harsh on Jose, he is adorable!

Billy’s solo: Telepathe’s “Lights Go Down”

He was fighting for it - as he should every week!

Kent’s solo: Elliot Yamin’s cover of “A Song for You”

Kent is just too adorable, I think he needs to win... if not Lauren

Dancer: Lauren Froderman
All-Star: Allison Holker
Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Tyce Diorio
Song: “Who’s Got the Pain” from “Damn Yankees”

LOVED the GIRL POWER!

Robert’s solo: Jason Mraz’s “A Beautiful Mess” (from a Raining Jane Session)

Oh Robert I love you!

Dancer: Billy Bell
All-Star: Ade Obayami
Style: Contemporary
Choreographer: Stacey Tookey
Song: Michael Andrews ft. Gary Jules’s “Mad World” –

Breathtakingly amazing, the song alone captivated me and the storyline and the dancing - stunning!

Adechike’s solo: Maxwell’s “Pretty Wings”

He is growing finally, but I think he will go home tomorrow night.

Dancers: Kent Boyd and Jose Ruiz
Style: Broadway
Choreographer: Spencer Liff
Song: “From This Moment On” from “Kiss Me Kate”

Um, I LOVED THIS! Jose rose to the occasion and Kent stole the show!

Dancers: Lauren Froderman and Adechike Torbert
Style: Foxtrot
Choreographer: Jean-Marc and France Genereux
Song: Beyonce’s cover of “Fever”

Jean-Marc drives me nuts, so much so that I dislike SYTYCD Canada .... because he is HEAD JUDGE GAH!!! Laruen and Adechike did well though.

Dancers: Billy Bell and Robert Roldan
Style: Bollywood
Choreographer: Nakul dev Mahajan
Song: “Ganesh” – from “Bombay Dreams” (by AR Rahman who did Slumdog Millionaire, fyi)

I love Bollywood routines.... they are just so exotic - Robert and Billy are both amazing... I don't want either to win because I think they are fabulous and will be successful on their own...

Overall a great episode - I choose Kent to Win, Lauren 2nd... Billy and Robert to go on and be successful world-wide while Kent goes on to be successful on boradway...

Jose and Adechike go home tomorrow I think, though Robert has ended up on the bottom far too often...

Time will tell

What do you think? Predictions?

DWTS - Dancing with the Stars Pairs

When the season kicks off on March 22, these will be the eleven pairs:

Aiden Turner and Edyta Sliwinska

Buzz Aldrin and Ashley Costa

Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke

Erin Andrews and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya

Jake Pavelka and Chelsie Hightower

Kate Gosselin and Tony Dovolani

Nicole Scherzinger and Derek Hough

Niecy Nash and Louis Van Amstel

Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood

Shannen Doherty and Mark Ballas

Mandy's Mind - I am thrilled to see Chelsie Hightower on the show as I ADORED her on SYTYCD. I am also a Jake fan so it's a great match I will thouroughly enjoy watching. I am still thinking Evan for the win... but we shall see.

Dancing with the Stars

The 11 dancers have been announced:

Former “Baywatch” hottie Pamela Anderson; Cincinatti Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco; soap star Aiden Turner; ESPN sports reporter Erin Andrews (the one of the peephole scandal); former “Beverly Hills 90210” star Shannen Doherty; astronaut Buzz “The Original Moonwalker” Aldrin; Niecy Nash of “Reno 911!”; Nicole Scherzinger, founder of the Pussycat Dolls; newly minted Olympic gold-medal figure skater Evan Lysacek and – drum roll please – the "Bachelor" himself, Jake Pavelka.

And, the 11th and most controversial name of all: Kate Gosselin. Fans of the show are really struggling with that choice.

First Kate Gosselin was on Jimmy Kimmel tonight and just like her photos for the DWTS promo, I didn't even recognize her... sure she no longer has douchey, Ed Hardy sporting, Jon of a husband and yes she got rid of that dead dog of a hair cut.... but seriously, was there surgery too? She almost looked.... dare I say it... hot!

My prediction is that Pam A is going to be a train wreck to observe, Shannen Doherty and her are both drama queens and Shannen's reputationis to be a straight up bitch so let's see how THAT goes... Pussycat Doll Chick will be a good dancer I am sure but I just think people will not care for her much.... Hope Jake sticks around, he's a cutie but I can't see him being THAT co-ordinated, he still seems kind of awkward to me at times ... though he danced well with Gillian in Bachelorette and also this season with all the ladies... we shall see. I'd bet Evan Lysacek wins or close to it... atheltic, artistic, take away the ice skates and I am certain he can still pull it off...

Who's excited?

I've never watched an ENTIRE season of this show.... but hope to this time.
