Unforgettable

Unforgettable stars Poppy Montgomery (Without a Trace) and Dylan Walsh (Nip/Tuck) and is about a woman who can not forget anything she ever sees. She has baggage of course, it seems her sister was killed whent hey were children and she can not remember anything from that, of course. But everything else sticks, which makes her super useful when solving crimes right? Witness testemony, crime scenes, you name it she remembers it. Seems she used to be a cop... and dated a cop... and they are reunited after someone in her building is killed and she helps solve the crime. Another side plot whic is very ironic is her mother seems to have alzheimer's... strange for a woman who cannot forget anything while her mother can't remember anything, including her daughter. Anyways, this show was good, Poppy;s accent slipped out a few times, but it was endearing. I really loved her in Without a Trace and think this is a similar style television show that will suit her well. More Fall TV

Mike Boogie Malin being sued for embezzlement

Mike Boogie and Dr. Will were Season 2 Big Brother stars and returned for All-Stars as well. They have gone on to many company's together including tattoor emoval services, Will's medical career and of course Mike's resturants. It seems now Mike "Boogie" Malin is being sued for being naughty....

A partner in one of the biggest restaurant groups in Hollywood claims two of her fellow partners -- both reality stars -- stole the business blind ... but one of the guys is coming right back at her and alleging extortion.

Shereene Arazm claims former "Big Brother" winner Mike "Boogie" Malin (pictured left) and his business partner, VH1 reality star Lonnie Moore (pictured right) "illegally siphoned away [money]" from the Geisha House, LLC restaurant group for years in order to "support their lavish party-boy lifestyles."

In her suit, Arazm claims, "They gambled away hundreds of thousands of dollars that never belonged to them, they used some of the stolen monies to pay for sex, and they traveled the world at Arazm's and the restaurant group's expense."

Summit Identifies Alleged 'Breaking Dawn' Pirate... Thoughts?

Summit Entertainment has identified and taken legal action against at least one fan, in a group, who released the unfinished, illegally obtained, Breaking Dawn footage/stills that were circulating a few months back.

Summit Entertainment isn't kidding around in its anti-piracy efforts on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn. The studio today took the unorthodox step of sending out a press release identifying the alleged culprit in a March hacking incident that ended with images of the highly-anticipated vampire romance film circulating on the Internet.

Summit's release ID's Daiana Santia of Argentina as having been involved in a group that stole photos, unfinished images and video of Breaking Dawn, which will be released in two parts beginning in November. Summit's four-continent crusade involved the services of investigation firm Kroll Inc. and law firm Keats McFarland & Wilson, which located Santia and others in the northern Argentina town of Posadas. Civil actions have been filed in the U.S. and Argentina, along with a criminal action in Santia's home country.

“While we very much appreciate the legions of committed fans of the franchise and encourage them to create community online, we cannot ignore that property was stolen,” says David Friedman, Summit's executive vp and general counsel. “It is not fair to the majority of fans that want to see the final chapter of the Twilight Saga film franchise fully realized by the filmmaker and dedicated cast and crew to have these images out and available on the Internet.”

As a fan I think part of the 'online community' is sharing behind the scenes details we can find. I don't think breaking the law is acceptable for the fandom, even when they were filming here in Vancouver I was always careful to stay on public propoerty and obey the rules, as tempting as it was to try and hike through the woods past the gate to the "forbidden meadow" I never have, and never will.

But, even still, I can't believe that studio's with mega-bucks, waste all their time and money to ruin the lives of some fans who took it too far. I do not know this South American gal, but I have met fans from Argentina and Brazil and all over the world and the one thing I know it - they are passionate. Does that mean they should be allowed to break the law?

NO -

But, I think the punishments do not always fit the crime.

I know during filming Summit did not like me much, because I would post photos of sets - before filming, after filming, even sometimes during filming if I could get close enough safely and legally... they said I was "ruining it for everyone"

I DISAGREE!

I think that I was in a position to share cool details of the film making process, which only excited fans further about the film. I think those who did not want to see the photos - did not look...

and those who wanted to see the photos... looked, and got even more xcited about the film.

The whole angle of "ruining it for others" is B.S.

If you do not wish to see, you do not look.

The real reason is, Summit doesn't want anything out there that may take money from their pockets - - - which is B.S.

Fans who see these photos get excited, they keep talking about the film, they get more hyped up to see it... it opens dialouge, communication, sharing, discussion...

It keeps the movie from fading into a less prominent position in our minds.

So what does Summit do to people who cross the line in sharing and promoting and hyping up their film?

Spend money on legal team to find and prosecute the fan.

This wasn't some hacker who got the photos and sold them - or did anything malicious at heart.... this was a fan who crossed the line for the love of a film and a fandom she is part of.

I think it's crap.

Given that last year Summit Entertainment prosecuted the person who broke into their set photographer’s server and stole all the still images from Eclipse (six leaked online), fans shouldn’t find this latest action too surprising. In the Eclipse case Summit spent several months building a case and tracking the IP addresses attached to the leak. The trail eventually lead to Sweden where the person responsible was found and prosecuted with the full help of that country’s authorities.

Whereas a studio may occasionally turn a blind-eye to limited footage from an event like Comic Con or a pre-screening going online because that was finished product meant for public consumption, they will always go after material that is stolen from what amounts to online breaking and entering.

Other studios have taken similar measures and jail time has resulted from such cases such as the Hugh Jackman Wolverine movie.

So this has happened before, with different studios and circumstances. It wouldbe interesting to compare all the past "crimes" of this nature and the outcomes...

Lexicon also brings up the fact that Hector Santia was not listed in the Summit Press Release. This may be Daiana's husband who the internet is registered under (speculating here) and is therefore listed in the document. John Doe's in the past have been listed because of their involvement in a crime but with internet crimes, often usernames are discovered before the real identities, so legal documents will put "John Doe" until real identities are discovered. This has happened with previous cases, including the Eclipse leaked photo case. Lexicon also points out that Judge Otis D. Wright II is the same judge from Jordan Scott v Stephenie Meyer. So two Eclipse Stills emerge. They go viral. They are pretty much the same thing that we saw several weeks ago, except in a different position. Everyone goes nuts... I too am excited, though I'd have prefered a different scene.... Since these stills have leaked, Twilight Lexicon has said:

It’s not quite the the leak of X-Men Wolverine proportions, but Summit is starting to show less humor about its intellectual property being used in that as of today there are not only one but two lawsuits that specifically are related to the Twilight Saga movies.

I think Summit and VANOC are besties... or should be... agreed?

MSN apologizes to Quileute Tribe for Video

LAPUSH -- MSN.com is set to offer a public apology to the Quileute tribe today for a video shot on Stephenie Meyer Weekend in September that showed unapproved filming on the reservation -- including scenes of the cemetery and graves, said tribal spokeswoman Jackie Jacobs.

Jacobs said she was first alerted to the video on Nov. 12 -- just two days before she and tribal council members left for the Los Angeles premiere of "The Twilight Saga: New Moon."

"It was such a bittersweet trip because I found out just two days before, and I knew I would be going to this huge celebration and would have to sit down and tell the council about it," Jacobs said.

"I couldn't really reiterate verbally or adequately convey what those images were like."

The film crew shot images of the Tribal Council building, totem poles, First Beach, the Senior Center and the Quileute Cemetery.

The film was set to dark music -- described by Jacobs as "macabre" -- and was filmed in an amateur documentary style.


Grave of chief

Repeatedly zooming in and out on a grave of a Quileute tribal chief -- who Jacobs did not name -- also added to the dark, suspenseful nature of the short film.

"As a native woman, I was astounded and sick to my stomach -- especially knowing I was the person who would have to tell the family about this," Jacobs said.

When Jacobs spoke with MSN on Nov. 12, it took the video down within minutes, she said.

Jacobs said the filmmakers had contacted the Forks Chamber of Commerce for permission to film points of interest for a virtual Twilight tour.

Meyer is the author of the Twilight series; she was not associated with the MSN project.

She said no one at the tribe was contacted for permission to film on the reservation.

"Anyone who is conducting business on our sovereign nation should go through the proper channels," she said.

Pain and suffering

"This situation has caused an enormous amount of pain and suffering to the Quileute Nation as a whole, but especially to the descendants of the Quileute chief," she said.

"An apology will never erase that hurt.

"Besides heartbreak, I was in shock and perplexed that an organization that presents itself as culturally sensitive and aware to indigenous people's plights all over the world could make such an egregious choice in their own backyards."

Jacobs said the tribe plans to work with MSN, which will produce a series of educational videos that the tribe can use to teach about its culture.

"We need to use the situation as an educational opportunity to teach the world how to conduct themselves when visiting a sovereign nation," said Carol Hatch, Quileute tribal chairwoman.

Among the etiquette guidelines the tribe posted on its site http://www.quileutenation.org/indian-country-etiquette is: "Burial grounds and religious ceremonies are sacred and are not to be entered."

"You can't really erase these situations," Jacobs said.

"But you can utilize it as an educational platform."

Chris Weitz wants to help Fan jailed for alleged piracy of New Moon

A fan got arrested last week and held in a cell for 2 days for allegedly trying to videotape 'New Moon'. She contends that she was only videotaping a party that was being held at the movie theater for her sister. A surprise party being held and that she was not trying to videotape the movie to distribute the film.

The fan is clearly talking and videotaping birthday songs and things to remember the event with narration. Not holding still and capturing the movie. The fan, 22-year-old Tumpach, if convicted could be facing 3 years in jail. I think they are trying to make an example of this fan and Chris Weitz agrees.

“Needless to say, the case seems to me terribly unfair and I would like to do what I can to address this,” Weitz wrote in an e-mail.

Weitz questioned whether her arrest was justified.

“There is, needless to say, a difference between trying to protect the copyright of a film and making an unfair example of someone who clearly seems not to have any intentions towards video piracy,” Weitz wrote.

He said he had contacted the studio that released the film, Summit Entertainment, to express his concern about her arrest, but he acknowledged there’s probably little he can do to influence the outcome of her case.

“I am not sure what effect I would have on the case,” he wrote, noting “the film is, after all, not my property.”

For the fan's sake I hope Chris Weitz's plee to the studio helps. I will let you know if I hear anything else about this. But let's keep our fingers crossed that a fan JUST like us gets set free.

Twilight Crime Spree Happening in a town near you

There's a "Twilight" crime wave sweeping the nation -- particularly at Burger King restaurants -- and all the suspects seem to be the most fearless creatures on the planet ... teenage girls with a crush.

TMZ has learned multiple Burger King restaurants across the country are reporting life-size promotional posters of Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson are being ripped right off the BK windows in broad daylight ... horrible time for a vampire.

So far, the interstate theft has affected BKs in Maine, Delaware and Montana. One Burger King rep tell us, "The girls just walk up in the middle of the day ... rip off the posters and run ... we've had to replace them over and over."


Um-I may or may not have considered this.... and I may or may not have a friend who attempted this at a local bookstore.... ha!
