Sony has confirmed Jonah Hill (Get Him to the Greek) and Channing Tatum (Dear John) will star in the upcoming adaptation of 21 Jump Street. Phil Lord and Chris Miller (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs) will be directing the film, which will be written by Michael Bacall (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World). Hill came up with the story with Bacall and has described it as being “a John Hughes movie with ‘Bad Boys’ style action.” Emma Stone was attached to star in the film, but recently had to drop out due to her commitment with the upcoming Spider-Man reboot. 21 Jump Street is currently set to for a March 16, 2012 release date
21 Jump Street was a great 80s television show about young cops. It kick started Johnny Depp's career. I was an extra in the show as a young girl and met THE Johnny Depp before he was THE Johnny Depp - in fact, Richard Frieco was "the man" back then.
Anyways, the telelvision show was filmed in Vancouver and I think that they should film the movie here too - mainly because I have a HUGE crush on Channing Tatum and have never met him - yet!
The only thing disappointing about this is that Emma Stone isn't doing it anymore, which is too bad because she is amazing also!
