Twilight Fans help Haiti

After an earth-quake in Haiti, reached 7.0 (as well as severe after shocks) in the darkness of night - the world reached out to help.

Twitter, Celebrities, everyday people like you and I, all felt the heartache of Haiti and luckily, many decided to help.

Donations of money, food, blood, everything began to come in... Now there are many ways to help, and I encourage you to do so - the fatality numbers are devestating and we can all spare a bit of time or money to help.

Our own Lainey Gossip as well as Twilight Bloggers Thinking Of Rob were mentioned in The LA Times blog for their commitment to the efforts:

Various tweeple and bloggers in the gossip and "Twilight" fan communities (@ThinkingofRob is on fire with updates) are urging donations to the Canadian Red Cross and elsewhere.

Here are some ways to donate:

The Red Cross has set up a system where you can send donations via text, you can donate 10$ by texting “HAITI” to 90999 (see info below) Wyclef Jean has also set up way to send donations via text (5$) - text YELE to 510 510

If you are searching for loved ones there are various websites and phone #s that may help:

  • Facebook Group - http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=249868383276

  • For Americans searching for loved ones (State Department) 1–888-407‑4747

There are more ways to help ToR has listed numerous other websites if you want information on how to help.

Lainey Tweets: Care Canada www.care.ca has a country office in Haiti ALREADY and is set up for donations.

It doesn't matter what you do, just do something. If everyone on my twitter donated just $1 that would be over $2500, imagine what $5 of $10 could do?

Please pass it on - every cent helps.

It is so easy to donate by text! Thanks Mandy for giving us all the information we need so we can donate to the Haitian people who are suffering so much.

In the US, we complain about the recession, and so many in the Detroit area, where I live, have lost jobs (including my husband). But the devestation in Haiti puts it all into perspective.
