WE DAY in VANCOUVER

Today is WE DAY

We Day, a Free The Children initiative, returns in 2009 stopping in three cities this time around. Today it is in Vancouver and I know a lot of kids in my neighbourhood who were chosen to go.

Their website states:

We Day is a one-of-a-kind event featuring inspirational and motivational speeches and performances by leading activists, speakers and entertainers. It is an annual celebration of the power of young people to change the world. It’s also the official kick-off to youth-led world-changing actions.

Students are encouraged to take action throughout 2009-2010 through Free The Children’s campaigns to raise awareness and funds for local and international initiatives. Donations will build schools and provide clean water and alternative income streams for some of the most impoverished people in the world.

I am all about these positive initiatives for youth. I have always believed youth are our future and will run the world soon enough so we need to give them all the tools and possibilities now for a bright future.

We Day will be hosted by etalk’s Tanya Kim and Ben Mulroney, and will include powerful speeches and performances from the following social issues speakers and entertainers
