Friday Night Q & A with Peter Facinelli at Seattle Twilight Convention

Friday Evening Peter Facinelli did a Q & A at the Seattle Twilight Convention.

There is a brief video clip here.

After having to change his schedule slightly, he went on stage quite late, but offered to do a 2nd Q & A Saturday morning for those unable to stay late Friday.

I have put up a few photos and summarized the session. Please be respectful and link back to anything you wish to you use anywhere the is not this blog. Thank-you~

Here is a summary of somethings he talked about:

  • Directors set the tone of the movie so all 3 movies so far had a different tone or energy. Catherine was passionate, energetic, excited, like she had drank 5 cans of red bull all the time. Chris was like Carlisle, calm and then he started wearing scarves, "stealing my characte" Peter joked. Eclipse is his favourite book so it was exciting to work on with David Slade.

  • When asked to invent an animal he said it would be a cross between a duck and aunicorn and it would be named Seymour.

  • A young girl named Mimi had submitted the next question and was shy, so Peter invited her up on stage. Her question was "would he rather be a vampire or a werewolf" he said a vampire and asked her what she would be and she said a werewolf. He joked that he'd outlive her and she would smell bad.

  • When asked who is his gratest influence he said Paul Newman or Robert Redford after much thought. He likes the longevity of their careers. He hasn't met Paul but Peter's stunt double in Fast Lane was the son of Paul's stunt double.

  • His favourite scene in Twilight was the baseball scene because he grew up playing baseball and liked that it showed the vampires capabilities. In New moon he liked the stitching scene. He explained how he used to practice stitchine chicken breasts and he was worried if anyone saw his fridge of sewn up chickens they'd think he was psycho or a serial killer. He brought one to set and said "Hey kristen, check out my chicken" feeling very proud and Kristen jokingly said "Nah, I'd never let you stitch me up." In Eclipse his fave scene is all the battle stuff. Lot's of action, hard training, going to the gym, fight trainers and an unspoken competition on set. He explains a day where he worked extra hard with fight training and yoga and the gym and he was in the elevator feeling great and the doors opened and there was Kellan doing push ups - while he waited for the elevator... and he said "ok you beat me"

  • He said even fighting vampires he keeps Carlisle's compassion.... "After beating them up I say sorry in my head" ha ha.

  • His family visits him sometimes on set, but they are usually really busy with school... "my kids, not my wife" he adds ha ha. He told the crowd about a time his 12 year old daughter was there during fight choreography and she gave it a try. She would barely push a stunt guy who would fly across the room.

  • He told the story of how his daughter would go to school and be asked "What does your daddy do?" and she would tell them "he's a mountain climber" then "he wrestles" then "he's a police officer" and he is glad they finally can see what he does and wonders how they react to "my dad's a vampire"

  • He wants to go to Forks, but hasn't though he HAS heard there is a parking spot reserved for Dr. Cullen. He jokes he wants to go park there, or bring an rv and stay a few days.

  • He won't reveal his vacation spot but says he likes sunny beaches.

  • His fave food is his mom's cooking.

  • He really has wanted to be an actor since he was a little boy, but was very shy. He shared a very sad story of how he was too shy to wait in the lunch line so he'd go to the pretzel lady and get pretzels for lunch to avoid the crowds. Says his daughter used to want to be a donut maker.... so she could eat all the donuts.

  • He commented on the posters in the room. On one side was his giant "Carlisle" poster and on the other side was the volturi and wolf pack posters... he said they were all eyeing Carlise.

  • When aske dhow he met his wife he joked "web dating?!" Then shared it was during a 1995 tv movie, the only job he had that he didn't enjoy, but did anyways. It was called "Unfinished Affair" (he joked the affair was still going strong after 15 years)

  • He led the crowd in a wave and joked "let's get our moneys worth"

  • When asked the last time he cried he told us about a time when filming Nurse Jackie Season 2 (episode 1 he believes which will air soon) and he had been up for a long time after filming in Vancouver (running through a forest all day) for Eclipse then flying red-eye to Nurse Jackie in NYC. It was a scene where he is venting about Jackie and he was already feeling "emotionally vulnerable" and startd bawling on set. he couldn't talk he was crying so hard and it was funny because after everyone calle dhim brilliant, genius, raw, real acting... they actually kept the scene in.

  • He said he would rather be Dr Cullen than Dr Cooper, "Coop has it rough" plus he likes the eternal life of vampires.

  • He would love to work with Sean Penn.

  • Favourite of the Saga is Eclipse because he's a guy and likes action.

  • He would like to say the whole cast is close, and not clique, they all try to hang out together but sometimes someone won't come if they are tired or something.

  • He talked about during Twilight going out as a group to a bar and Rob would do open mic. Mentioned New Moon it was a bit harder to go out, but Eclipse was impossible because a bunch of L.A. Paparazzi flew into Vancouver so they had to sneak out to dinner or each other's rooms to hang out, Jackson would play guitar or one night Peter, Ashley, Kellan and Xavier played the Twilight Game. He said Xavier was new so they invited "the new kid" to come play "our game" Peter added how he was the wikipedia of Twilight on set so he thought he'd do a lot better than he did. The human questions were hard. He joked Ashley won but it was cheating because she could read the future. ha ha

  • When asked when he realized the phenomena Twilight would become he said he was on vacation (in his secret sunny beach spot) and everyone on the beach was reading the saga. Then a little girl swam out to the floating dock he was laying on and said "you play Carlisle don't you?" Finally, at the Twilight Premier it was def. clear.

  • He goes on to discuss how there was 4 blocks of screaming fans at the Twilight premier and all he could think was "please like the movie" because all those happy, excited fans could quickly become an angry mob. Ha Ha.

  • If he could have dinner with anyone who would it be? Paul Newman, again... he jokes that he has his own salad dressing so it would be perfect.

  • He joked his fave band was Paul New Moon and the funky bunch (after so much talk about Paul Newman) then admited he liked 60s and 70s rock such as The Doors, The Beatles, and after a fan shouted 100 Monkeys he said them too.

  • He hasn't read fanfiction but wants to read the Carlisle Chronicals (Waning Moon?!)

  • When asked what character he'd like to play besides Carlisle, he said Edward, if he was younger...but the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

  • During Open Questions he was asked if there was competition between him and his wife over roles, he said no they were supportive and excited for each other. He recently wrote something for Hallmark with Jennie Garth in mind.

  • He talks about 1st meeting Rob and he had these caveman extensions in that kept hanging in his face and clearly irritated Rob. Then when he met Rob again without extensions he didn't recognize him but thought "Now this guy should play Edward" ha ha

  • He has some cousins in the audience who asked when he'd come visit. He joked with them a bit saying they only got to see him at these conventions.

  • When asked to dance he said he wouldn't but to search "Peter Facinelli Irish Jig" online.

    Which I did - - - Here you go:

Here are a few photos from the Friday Evening Session.

Please be resectful of these phtoos. Please leave the tag on photos and link back to here if you choose to use anything from my page.

All cast who appeared signed the banners. One was auctioned for $400. Also, there were banners of individual cast which were auctioned and the winners got to take the banner to be signed by the actor themself. Very Cool.

As he left he walked right by where we were sitting.

He then went to do the photo opportunities. Those who purchased tickets would be able to get professional photos with him. After that he did autographs. Then he and Chaske introduced Candace Charee' who was performing.

Since we were her "back up dancers" we got to be backstage and actually had a great conversation with Chaske and also Peter once he returned from the autographs.

I will blog more about Twi Con Seattle Tomorrow.

    Cheers.
