Robert Pattinson as Prince Harry?

I saw this the other day over at Twilight Lexicon and I instantly thought Rupert Grint was perfect with his red hair and quirky awkwardness.

According to British on line news source The Improper, director Peter Kosminsky is out to find the perfect actor to play Prince Harry in his upcoming film “The Spare” and Robert Pattinson is on his short list of choices. Other actors he is considering include Rupert Grint of Harry Potter fame as well as Rupert Friend.

“I feel a sense of compassion for the [Prince Harry],” Kosminsky says. “His parents break up in the most spectacularly public way, his mother dies in the most tragic and, again, public way and everything is picked over.

“He’s a man born to no role. His brother’s the heir and Harry’s the spare,” he adds, hence the name of the film.

Prince Harry has led a hugely colorful life, but the film will also focus on how he must find a role and meaning in his life as third in line to the British throne behind his father Prince Charles and brother Prince William.

Rob, of course, is busy shooting the latest “Twilight” sequel “Eclipse,” in Canada, but, as TheImproper recently reported, he is interested in finding meatier roles that test his abilities as an actor.

The 23-year-old star, who shot to fame playing the stunningly handsome, physically perfect, but emotionally conflicted vampire, says it's gotten to the point that he sometimes feels “annoyed” by the roles he’s played or has been offered.

“Annoyingly, there are so few parts I feel I can add anything to, or that I want to do. Acting is the hardest thing I've ever done in my life,” he says in his latest interview with UK magazine Another Man..

"I don’t want to be an actor for the sake of it," he said.

Rupert Grint is also anxious to break out of the Harry Potter mold and move into more adult film roles.

He is set to star in a new movie, “Cherrybomb” that has won rave reviews for its sexy, dark look at drug use in Britain. It’s also Grint’s first lead in a non-"Potter" role. But the movie is having trouble finding a distributor, because of its controversial subject.

What do you think?

I believe Rupert Grint would be best - but Robert Pattinson could make a killer Prince William with some lighter hair ;) non?
